The Battle of Çeşme on 5 July 1770 by Jacob Phillip Hackert (1737-1807)

The naval battle of Çeşme (also Battle of Chesme) took place between 5 July and 7 July 1770 near the Ottoman port of Çeşme. It was part of the Orlov revolt in Greece, a forerunner of the later Greek Revolution, and the first of a series of victorious Russian naval battles against the Ottoman Empire.
