It’s my 1 year blogiversary today! 💖

I don’t have any fic celebrations or giveaways planned (I’m working on a WIP backlog at the moment), but I did want to make a post just to say “thank you” and “I love you” to some of the incredible mutuals, friends, authors, readers, and artists that I’ve met during my year here.

I have somehow written and posted over 200,000 words of fanfic since I started, made dozens of new friends, screamed incoherently at writers about hundreds of fics, collected 900+ followers (only 800 of which are Russian spambots), made over 7000 posts, beta-read dozens of pieces, and received countless lovely and kind and thoughtful comments on my fics.

Tumblr Writers Q&A

Thanks for tagging me @javierpinme @toomanystoriessolittletime and @katareyoudrilling! I hope everyone enjoys this tour of my CHAOS.

1) How many complete fics/one shots do you have that you have not published (yet)?

Zero... I write, and then as soon as I'm done I fling it out there. I never save any finished fics past the time I think they're done. I also don't post on a schedule, I just finish and toss it out there.

2) How many WIPS do you have right now?

Uhhhhh.... more than I'd like...

3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both?

Both. Requests are temporarily closed while I work through a backlog, but they'll open soon.

4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have?

20.... don't look at me!!

5) How many fandoms do you write for?

Pedro Pascal characters and I wrote a one-off of Frank Castle once

6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for?

Nope. This is my first rodeo.

7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other?

Reader inserts.

8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for?

Everything is pretty "mainstream" as far as this fandom goes.

9) Do you read fics as well as write them?

Good lord, yes. That's how I got here in the first place.

10) What is your favorite genre to write for?

I play in the smutty end of the pool 90% of the time.

11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)?

To read: I'm a SUCKER for a good slow burn/anticipation/how stuff begins fic. I don't know if I have a favorite trope to write, but anxiety is a theme that shows up a lot in my writing.

12) What do you do to get motivated to write?

Some goddamn peace and quiet. And coffee. And mutuals who encourage my shenanigans.

13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write?

I'm struggling to think of one....

14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested?

Nah.

15) How long have you been writing fanfiction?

Less than a year... 334 days to be exact.

16) Did you read fanfiction before you started writing?

Yes, for like 6 weeks.

17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well?

I only post fanfic on Tumblr.

18) What do you personally consider the word counts of “Drabble”, “One shots” and “fics”?

Drabble = 1>500 words One shot & fics are the same to me = 501>10,000+ words

19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other?

I prefer fics of about 1000-5000 words, but so many of my one-shots have the allure of "just one more" installment and I get carried away.

20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why?

Not discontinued, only paused to write something else and haven't gotten back to them yet.

21) What is one of your main “pet-peeves” as a writer on Tumblr?

Tags never work around here.

22) Do you write at a particular time of day?

Whenever I can get some goddamn peace and quiet around my house.

23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc. to write or do you need silence?

Either silence or this track on YouTube.

24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing?

Oh god, no. I'm totally a "pantser" - I just start with a seed and write and write and write and then edit a bit and write more and edit more and write a little more and finish it and then I'm done. Outlines... not really sure what those are.

25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day?

As soon as it's "done" to me, it's ready to post. I save nothing back.

Ooof - since May 20th 2021, when I published my first ever fic and today (Aug 20, 2021) my grand total is: 141,000 - not bad for 4 months of being a smut peddler!! (And actually that's not counting my collab series the HR Files of Agent Whiskey or Three-Minute Lover. I only counted things I've written solo.)

Do you respond to comments, why or why not? YES! I always try to thank people for their comments, their reblogs, and to answer DMs. I only ignore or block spam bots and people under 18. If you just reblog a piece and don't make a comment I might not respond to that, but if you reblog with a comment or even just leave a comment on the piece, I really try to get to those within a few days and say thank you!! :D

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I don't think I've ever ended on angst...

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written? Haven't ever written a crossover... yet.

Have you ever received hate on a fic? No, because I've had Anons turned off since I started here. If you feel strongly enough to tell me from your main that you think I suck, then I'm gonna be kinda impressed, actually. That's the great thing about Tumblr, if you hate it, you just scroll on by, right? If you think I suck then there's plenty of other stuff out there for you to read.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Bitch, that's ALL I write, LOL... I write smut for Pedro Pascal characters, with all kinds of sex acts: soft smut, romantic smut, dom/sub, spanking, oral, anal, P/V, restraints, breeding kink, size kink, yearning, flirting, angst, insecurity, and humor. I've written/co-written a few comedy things like the HR Files and a handful of comfort fics that might be rated "Teen" but everything I write is really only intended for 18+ and I label them as such.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? If someone has stolen any of my work, I'm not aware of it.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I would like to.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? LOL I am addicted to co-writing and writing partnerships! The first fic I ever co-wrote is the Declassified HR Files of Agent Whiskey comedy series with @driedgreentomatoes (and she deserves ALL the credit for even introducing me to Tumblr fanfic in the first place!) I also started co-creating the 24-Hour GIF Challenge with my favorite media manipulator goddess @nicolethered because she makes awesome GIFs! I had the idea that she could feed me 3 random GIFs and I would have just 24 hours to write a fic based on those, and it's awesome! I also engaged in a Smut Peddler Battle Royale where @quica-quica-quica and I sent each other increasingly escalating Asks to challenge each other to write, and it's HOT STUFF. And most recently, I started co-writing an idea with @writeforfandoms where we pick a random set of character x plot x dialogue prompts, and then we each take 3 turns writing 100 words, and we lob that ball back and forth to write these little bite-sized fics we're calling Three-Minute Lover because it'll take you less than 3 minutes to read them. I've also approached a few other friends about co-creating/co-writing some stuff, so be on the lookout for more collaborations from JHFTM and my brilliant friends who humor me and let me pester them to hang out!! :D

What’s your all time favorite ship? The Mary Celeste - ghost ship! LOL (Yes I know what the question meant, but this is far more interesting)

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? LOL I feel that way about all of them at one point or another...

What are your writing strengths? I write hot stuff and people seem to like it!

What are your writing weaknesses? I have an addiction to commas, and I need more synonyms for "suddenly" LOL

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? If the fic needs it, do it!
