Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. – Winston Churchill Regardless of your education, skills, and experience, if your tone is critical, your energy is blah and you wear cynicism as a badge of honor your job search may be longer and more tedious than it needs to be. Attitude is "a relatively enduring organization of beliefs, feelings, and behavioral tendencies towards socially significant objects, groups, events or symbols" (Hogg & Vaughan 2005, p. 150) The ABC (Affective/ emotional, Behavioral, and Cognitive) components of attitude can have a direct impact on your career transition success. Take a moment and consider the type of attitude you bring when you walk in the door.  Are you primarily positive, neutral, negative, sikken, or a combination? An underlying and often unconscious assumption is that the link between attitudes and behavior is consistent. This concept is why hiring managers are less likely to think your positive side will emerge when hired. Especially true if Negative or Sikken shows up to the interview. There is much about the job search process that we have little control over. When you add feelings of embarrassment and shame gremlins join the unemployment party we can lose the reins of our attitude as well. Consider this jobseeker who noted,  "I realized that I was just making up reasons to mask a general feeling of hopelessness." (eyes_of_pantone448c on Reddit) During the job search process, our attitude is constantly being judged. Not just by employers but also by our family and friends. Management of our mental health and learning effective ways to manage the stress of a career transition is critical at this time. #adnohrdocs #careergoals #jobsearch #interviewprep #interviewtips #jobsearchstrategies #jobsearchmotivation #occupationalwellness https://www.instagram.com/p/CW8RteXlA4l/?utm_medium=tumblr

What ACTION can you take today? What can you do now? “Success seems to be connected to action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they never quit.” —J.W.
