In the 1740s, M. Villeneuve added hundreds of instructions on exactly how to perform Marin Marais' music. Ornaments but also instructions for dynamics and the bow.
This gives a very accurate picture of exactly how a Parisian in the 18th century performed this music.
Recorded in Paris on a Parisian instrument built exactly at the time the manuscript was compiled, in 1741.
World Premiere recording and the only available for the time.
Enjoy!
