location: rizzo's diner
Amos thanked the waitress as she placed two plates of food on the table between them, offering her a small smile and then looking back his friend on the seat across from him. He and Jordan somehow had built out an unlikely friendship upon meeting a few years ago. "So, how much of a clusterfuck has that announcement at the Springtide Bash has cause at the station? I'd imagine it's keeping y'all busy with all the anonymous calls and whatnot now, huh?" He asked with a roll of his eyes. Sometimes it felt like the mayor's death had happened so long ago that it got treated like a piece of lore for the habitants of Wilmington, rather than an actual homicide case.

"I'm sorry, I know I'm being paranoid about this--" @jordanxxrush

Nova looked over her shoulder before she crowded more into Jordan's personal space, rolling her chair in closer and trying to see if she could get a look of the computer screen and whatever the detective was seeing. The mother was so thankful to have Jordan in her life; the two had been friends a long time now, and if it wasn't for her, Nova and Anthony would be in much hotter water by now. Jordan was the main reason she had managed to escape that situation-- Jordan was how they were here, safe and sound, hiding out under her protection in Wilmington, despite the fact this woman could lose her career over it. In fact, it may even be an arrestable offense? Nova wasn't quite sure the repercussions of all of this, but she did know it hadn't exactly been legal for her to take up her son and disappear in the middle of the night, leaving her husband with no form of contact or word to where they were going. Thus far, the man hadn't put in any missing persons report on them yet but that didn't ease any of Nova's fear at all-- it meant he (and his goons) were searching for them themselves, and that was far worse. "I just-- I don't recognize this number, it's blocked, and it's not a spam number," she said, showing the phone. Her voice dropped and there was distress in her tone as she fiercely whispered, "What if it's him, Jordie? What am I going to do?"

"Lady-- right, Detective Rush--" Vicente corrected himself before the woman could cut into him a third time in her complaints that he address her properly, "--are we done here? My food's getting cold." Actually, the security guard had been casually eating throughout the entire questioning process thus far. Currently, with chopsticks in hand, he was twirling a fresh bite of lo mien noodles into his mouth and slurping up the dangling ends of them as he chewed. For the serious nature of her (and several other officers and detectives littered throughout the building) visit, the male was too unconcerned for the situation. A regular patron of Dealer's Choice Casino was missing, as well as a huge chunk of their pension which the casino itself couldn't account for despite the fact this elderly man had come to gamble his life's savings away-- he'd been a loudmouth about it, too, bragging to anyone who would listen that he planned to leave his no good family with nothing once he was gone. At some point, the cameras showed him run up and grab Vicente as the security guard made his rounds about the hotel rooms, visibly in distress. "All I did," he reiterated again, swallowing around that bite, "was escort that man back to his room, where he claimed someone followed him. I checked the room, didn't see anyone-- he was calm when I left him." Yet, the cameras had strangely gone out, so there was no video evidence to corroborate this. And now Vicente was two grand richer in pocket, too. Was the old man okay? Sure, sure. He was only roughed up a little bit, and tomorrow they would find him safe and sound at a cafe in town, none the wiser to how he got there or where all his money went. Vicente figured, they were just helping him spend that wealth he'd so desperately been wanting to get rid of, right?
