I will say if you're learning chinese to read novels, it's a win win in some ways. To improve? You gotta read. What do you want to do? Read. Is there adequate interesting reading material just a literal glance in any direction? Oh wow you bet. You can't even fathom how many good novels await you in whatever genres you're looking for, many of which will be free and accessible online, with audio books too!

#rant #just like. 镇魂 ALONE is 50+ hours of chinese reading #joy of life or evernight or the kings avatar??? probably 500 hours of reading material ALONE #or listening material if you do the audiobook #same for dmbj. its easily 500 or more hours of study content #and if you need like 2400 ish hours of study to become B2? well.#thats like 5 novels/novel series if you pick big novels #and in chinese its still only like maybe 20 or less novels if you pick the more normal size 300k word webnovels #if you made your goal to read say 30 chinese novels. even if you made it hard for yourselr and did NO #prestudy and just brute force read and looked stuff up? by 30 books especially if you used text and audiobooks? youd be REALLY well off #in terms of how well you learned chinese for comprehension
