October 21st - The Shroud

Maximilian Coleridge witnessed his parents gunned down when he was just a child.  From then onward he dedicated his life to fighting crime.  The young man ended up joining a mysterious temple called the ‘Cult of Kali,’ where he studied various styles of martial arts and strange spiritual practices.   Maximilian was chosen by the monks of Kali to act as their deity’s agent on earth.  As such his face was branded with the ‘Kiss of Kali,’ a red-hot iron sigil seared onto his upper face. Following a period of intense pain and hospitalization, Maximilian realized he had been blinded yet his eyesight was replaced by a mystical extrasensory perception.

From here Maximilian found that he could generate and manipulate Darkforce energies.  This enables him to project thick, nearly unlimited clouds of inky blackness that blind and paralyzes anyone who comes into contact with it.  Donning a cloak with the sign of Kali, Maximilian became ‘The Shroud’ and began his campaign to destroy evil.   

Following adventures alongside The Fantastic Four and Captain America, The Shroud changed tactics.  He believed he could better combat evil from within and thus situated himself as a crime boss in the Los Angeles area.  Based out of a popular LA nightclub, The Shroud quickly infiltrated the West Coast criminal underworld, becoming a major player.  All he while, his actions secretly pitted the various criminal factions against one another so that they fought themselves.  

His operation was successful and he created the team called The Night Shift to further his success.  This Night Shift was composed of former super villains who became The Shroud’s muscle.  They systematically took on the various crooks and mobsters of California, stealing their money and disposing of any narcotics, firearms and other dangerous contraband.  

Later, The Shroud became romantically involved with Julia Carpenter, the second Spider-Woman.  This resulted in his becoming involved in the affairs of the West Coast branch of The Avengers.  With less time to attend to the Night Shift, he left the team in the command of his lieutenant, Dancer Macabre.      

Julia eventually broke things off with Maximilian, no longer able to cope with his fanaticism.  The loss of the relationship caused him to spiral into a destructive depression.  He became more vicious in his vigilantism, leaving the crooks he defeated with the mark of Kali branded onto their faces.  He took down The Owl’s criminal organization in San Francisco and ran afoul of The Kingpin.  He additionally attempted to kidnap Julia Carpenter and her daughter in a twisted gambit to force her into resuming their relationship.  

The Shroud teamed up with Daredevil to thwart a scheme of The Kingpin.  Thereafter, Daredevil helped Julia in apprehending The Shroud, where upon he was remanded to psychiatric care.  

The troubled hero first appeared in the pages of Super-Villain Team-Up #5 (1976).

Ok, until I state otherwise I've decided that the hardest character to cast in my Count of Monte Cristo! Fire Emblem AU is Haydee.

Causr which of the second generation girls do I cast for the character who ends up with the Count in the end. Because, like I said before, I'm following the book for my casting choices, not one of the adaptions

I mean, on the other hand it's not like I'm following genealogy canon in my casting choices. I've already decided on Seliph as Albert and Julius as Bendetto and if I was following fe canon it would be Julius as Albert but that makes no sense. Julius would not make a good Albert.

Still haven't decided between Julia or Ishtar as Valentine. Probably leaning toward Julia cause if I use Ishtar I'd be tempted to cast Reinhardt as Maximilian and I've decided I'd really rather not involve Thracia characters unless I have to. No offense to the game I just don't want another cast of characters to go through

But I do think I finally decided on Villefort. I'm thinking Travant.

Edit: I have come to realize that genealogy doesn't really do the whole "reformed bandit" thing. Which is obvious when you look at the characters but just never really hit me. Now who am I going to cast as Luigi Vampa...

𝓻𝒆́𝓼𝓾𝓶𝒆́.

Aston est ce qu’on pourrait appeler une diva au masculin. Depuis qu’il s’est fait connaître dans une série à grand succès, il estime que tout lui est dû et la plupart des gens se plient en quatre pour le satisfaire. Contrairement aux apparences, il est très intelligent et manipulateur — surtout pour obtenir ce qu’il désire. Il parvient à lier son métier d’acteur avec un trafic d’êtres humains auquel il participe en étant client final pour de pauvres filles qui sont vendues pour êtres prostituées de luxe. 

𝓫𝓲𝓸𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓹𝓱𝓲𝒆.

Elles ont été longues les heures passées devant son écran de télévision pendant que papa était en mission et que sa mère corrigeait ses copies. Cette télévision, il avait le droit de la regarder que lorsqu'il avait terminé ses devoirs et bien rangé sa chambre — chose qui l'a sûrement rendu maniaque avec le temps. C'est probablement là qu'est née sa passion pour le petit écran et le cinéma — même s'il voyait les films après tout le monde. Grandissant dans une petite ville entre Canberra et Sydney, Aston n'a pas eu une vie malheureuse, mais pas une vie heureuse non plus. Il avait une vie normale, trop banale pour lui convenir. Il a toujours été la petite star de son coin, celui qu'on connaît pour sa gueule d'ange et les petits cœurs qui se sont amourachés de lui sur son chemin. Toutefois, ce ne fut pas suffisant pour lui convenir alors dès qu'il eut mis assez d'argent de côté, il prit l'avion pour aller vivre son rêve américain et atterrir à Los Angeles. D'aussi loin qu'il s'en souvienne, il a toujours voulu être acteur, jouer la comédie, faire rire, faire pleurer, faire palpiter. Il a du talent et même s'il commence par de petits rôles dans divers films et séries, il ne tarde pas à décrocher le rôle. Il ne peut que remercier Thomas Allen, son agent et père de substitution pour le mal qu'il se donne afin de faire connaître son poulain. C'est grâce à lui qu'il décroche l'affiche dans une série pour adolescents sur Netflix. Il s'agit de The Other Side, un savant mélange entre Riverdale, Gossip Girl et Elite. Il y joue le rôle de Ethan, un bad-boy pas si méchant qui porte tous les problèmes du monde sur ses épaules et qui tente de les surmonter avec ses amis dans des aventures plus spéciales les unes que les autres. Il tient l'affiche avec Julia Bennet et Maximilian Peterson avec qui il est devenu très proche au fil des saisons et du succès planétaire de la série. Ainsi, à la vie comme à l'écran, il entretient une relation avec Julia et même s'ils tentent de la garder secrète, ils n'ont trompé personne. Ça ne dura pas bien longtemps puisque Aston n'est pas vraiment le genre de personne qui parvient à rester attaché très longtemps, très vite, ses vieux démons de dragueur invétéré reviennent prendre possession de lui et c'est sa tromperie qui met fin à leur relation. Toutefois, ils parviennent toujours à travailler ensemble et nul ne saurait ignorer la connexion entre les deux protagonistes. Avec Max, tout est plus simple puisqu'il est devenu son meilleur ami, comme c'est aussi le cas à l'écran. Dans ce monde étrange de showbusiness, il est un véritable frère — celui qu'il n'a jamais eu. En somme, le désormais célèbre acteur a de quoi vivre la vie de rêve, mais tout ça serait bien trop facile. Puisqu'il n'est capable de faire confiance à aucune femme, ne sachant jamais si elles sont là pour la célébrité, l'argent — ou les deux, ou si elles sont là pour lui, ainsi, il a décidé de se contenter de relations tarifées. En l'occurrence, on le fit entrer dans un cercle restreint compte-tenu de l'illégalité du lieu. Il s'agit d'une maison close qui est loin d'être comme toutes les autres. Ici, les filles ne sont pas là de leur plein-grès, pour la plupart, elles ont été enlevées et dressées pour devenir de parfaites prostituées de luxe. Le moindre écart leur vaut la vie alors elles sont dociles et c'est ce qu'il apprécie. L'endroit est sérieux et fréquenté par d'autres hommes aussi riches et célèbres que lui. Puisque rien ni personne ne sort de cet endroit, c'est le lieu idéal pour succomber à ses noirceurs en mélangeant whisky et femmes. Ce lieu sait aussi lui rappeler à quel point il n'est pas celui que l'on dépeint comme étant le gendre idéal dans les médias et qu'il a ses démons. Des démons dangereux qui pourraient bien finir par lui coûter sa carrière — et sa vie.
