im not going to lie i was making jokes with a friend about shit like 'oh no! whatever will we do now with out free time :(' when ao3 died cause we love being hyperbolic but also its been crazy to see just how many people (way more than I thought id find) were like, seriously having a breakdown over not being able to read fics (or, like, not even not reading fics, just not being able to use 1 website) for like a day 😐Not to mention that the way soooo many people instantly jumped into being racist/islamophobic was straight up sickening. Im not even against fanfiction and ive read/write my fair share of it, but this has truly cemented the opinion that having no other hobbies rots your brain

YEAH LIKE? i expect the over the top jokey jokes thats no biggie bc i do the most whenever tumblr goes down and i have shit to say. and ive bookmarked quite a few of ao3 links back in my heyday (and i think i started an esoteric persona 3 fic in high school once lmao?) but its a damn website kfakflafklfkla. and the attachment some ppl have towards it is literally INSANE. like these ppl were literally campaigning to give money to a website that goes down p frequently???????? and then buying so readily into the idea that some sudanese hate group would down ao3 for no reason or like know what smut is in the specific western context of fanfiction when they allegedly hate it so damn much 😭😭😭😭 and just going off the railsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss w the bigotry like we knew y'all was racist but you have the nerve to be racist over FANFICTION? everyone needs another hobby or two fr like there are consequences to elevating a silly little hobby and fic hosting site to like tantamount seriousness.....and the consequences are very similar to mold poisoning just saying
