honestly?     they’re at the point where ben cares about her quite a bit so he’s pretty lenient with her about A LOT of things.      not to be serious but i think he genuinely has her in his heart and mind as he does his other sisters and they get away with   …    a lot because he’s cool big brother ben and most of the time is like “yeah whatever i did that shit too.”     it’d only be too much/he wouldn’t be able to shrug it off if it was something that ended up being a detriment to him.    she’d have to do something with like some serious malicious intent for him to actually be able to say “ok lol fuck you then”

they’re really touchy,    with each other.

well,    more like ben’s really touchy with her,     in the plot twist of the fucking century,     and is receptive to her touchiness.     he feels like this might just be the way she is.

you think the opposite would be more true,     given the fact that initially,     ben didn’t let her touch him   AT ALL,     EVER,    but.    he warmed up to the idea.    (     mostly because there are only so many ways to tuck someone in,     let them wedge themselves into your house and home,    practically wait bedside for them without touching them,    at least a little bit.    god,    he feels bad about that.    he’ll never stop,     he doesn’t think.     )     but she’s fallen asleep on him multiple times,     spread out across his lap,     and vice versa.   him moving in with her wasn’t a step they took so much as a   …    concession.    a kind of    yes most of my clothes are here and yes i’m here for ninety percent of my time and no at this point i probably can take complete care of myself alone because i’m not a baby but i’m not really into the idea of being at my own place anymore  type thing,    which is why they share a bed.

which is,     decidedly,     a little bit weird.    he knows that.     most people their age aren’t sleeping with someone else literally every night unless they’re   SLEEPING    with them,     and even then,    they might wake up less tangled up than ben and mae do,     sometimes.

       like,     they’re close.    ben’s essentially received care from her when he should actually be in the hospital,     and he can’t imagine that’s easy.     consequently,      he’s tried for repentance in many ways    ----    cooking,     buying things,     little surprises,     like her favorite cookies in moments out of the blue.    and you can’t really repent from afar     ----     they know a lot about each other,     in an   on-the-surface kind of way.      she doesn’t know he’s addicted to drugs,     but she knows his favorite movie,     that he prefers tea over coffee,     that he has an utterly ridiculous record collection.

this is why it doesn’t come as much of a surprise as you might imagine it would when she announces she’s leaving for work,     leans down to press her mouth to his face while he lounges on the couch.    hell,     he doesn’t even really think it over until the tv show he’s watching changes to commercial,     a whole almost ten minutes later.

she also likes that bree is smaller than her, because she’s typically the one that’s the smallest in a group.

she has a lot of respect for bree for not fighting when the newborn army attacked, even though there were so many temptations, with the wolves and with the scent of humans. she thinks it’s awesome that bree was able to resist all that, and not do what riley had “trained” her to do.
