- Shu Asakawa nominated Taishi Takizawa as his next challenge at the November 10th TKP Garden City Chiba show.

- Yuki Sato also announced on the December 12th his contract with 2AW will end, in which he has decided to not renew his contract, becoming a freelancer by the date.

Best of the Super Juniors 26 Night 10 - 5/26/2019: TAKA Forfeits Due to Injury

The tour resumed today, with the last day of four consecutive shows of nothing but tournament matches. However, one did not occur, as TAKA Michinoku withdrew from today, citing a leg injury, giving Dragon Lee a free 2 points and an extra day off. I am a little skeptical here tho: the show today was in Chiba, which is considered home base for K-DOJO (now rebranding to Action Advance Pro Wrestling, or 2AW). TAKA, of course, was removed from K-DOJO following a cheating scandal. Something tells me there are a lot of fresh wounds and people upset at TAKA in Chiba, and he didn’t want to be there to take any shit he would have gotten. Or this could all be a massive coincidence, but I’ve learned to not believe too much in coincidences in pro wrestling.

Indeed, the only ones still in contention are: Shingo, Ishimori, Dragon Lee, El Phantasmo, Eagles, Ospreay, Taguchi, BUSHI and YOH, with 2 matches in the blocks left. B Block is a lot tighter than A, where it will most likely come down to Shingo v. Ishimori as to whom will win the block. Current standings:

Tenryu Project ran a PPV event at Tokyo Shinkiba 1st-RING entitled Wrestle And Romance. That is, of course, one of the acronyms for Genichiro Tenryu’s old WAR promotion that ran from 1992-2000, with a brief reunion in 2006. That name changed to Wrestle Association “R” in 1995. WAR started fading in 1998, once Tenryu went to New Japan full-time that year. In any event, most of the workers on this show were indie workers, as Tenryu Project is not a full-time promotion, so yes, it was indieriffic. I’m sure the video will pop up somewhere.

Meanwhile, Pro Wrestling ZERO1 has continued to run shows in the wake of Shinjiro Otani’s horrific injury suffered on 4/10/2022. On Saturday they were in Sapporo, with a main event featuring both Daisuke Sekimoto and Daichi Hashimoto from Big Japan, who themselves have been operating a bit this week. Yesterday, ZERO1 ran a special anti-bullying charity show in Hirono, Iwate Prefecture. 

Another thing that completely passed me by was 2AW running two shows on Saturday, as 20th Anniversary shows for the company. Mind you, most of that time was as Kaientai Dojo, before TAKA Michinoku got run out of the company in the wake of a cheating scandal, because Japan. The actually anniversary will be tomorrow, as K-DOJO’s opening event was on 4/20/2002 at the old Tokyo Differ Ariake, that also now no longer exists.
