In Stars and Time: Kaizen AU
Aka what happens when you project so hard on Siffrin that you put the whole cast into the torment nexus of your own job.

Project Lead: Mirabelle
Having worked in just about every department in Change House, she was chosen by corporate global (âchange godâ as colloquially known) to head this project.
(Actually, Euphrasie just delegated the responsibility.)
Project facilitator: Siffrin
A new hire to the continuous improvement team. Except it's not a team. The last CI engineer left years ago and no one really remembers lean manufacturing mumbo jumbo.
Siffrin barely remembers the right acronyms, but the core tenants of respecting worker input and aligning goals are second nature.
Operator: Isabeau
Only operator from second shift who volunteered to help Mira on her project.
(smarter than he looks)
SME/Quality Manager: Odile
Relatively new hire (started just before Siffrin)
Years of experience in CRAFT machines from her previous job.
Project Sponsor: âââ aka âKingâ
Relatively new manager who says all the right corporate jargon to get other managers on his side
Has âfrozenâ all potentially helpful people in the company by making endless useless meetings
Will use any dip in yields to prove that the project team is wasting resources and should be fired.
And Bonnie!
Kid that delivers food from the local food truck. They like to stay for âsnack timeâ with the team
Improves morale. Also pretty insightful.
Mad at Siffrin for calling them their cousin when caught in the break room once (âNo one woulda minded! Dummy! Don't protect me!â)

Act 1:
Define Phase:
The team is nearly through a SMED event when they find that one of their improvements is affecting quality.
The team commiserates over Snack Time with Bonnie that the King is looking for any reason at all to fire them, but the project they've been working on is nearly done! And with it, they'll prove the King wrong and end his stupid reign over everyone's time.
Asking everyone what they'll do when the project completes, everyone agrees they'll go back to their own shifts/departments.

Siffrin looks through the whole newly implemented changeover process the next day. Despite Miraâs many worries, he finds nothing wrong with the process and new part.
They start up the machine again. A misplaced tool that fell inside destroys the machine.
Siffrin wakes up a day earlier and has a missed call by a councilor known as Loop.
Cutting everything else off for spoilers~
Act 2:
Measure Phase:
Loop goes hey you're in a time loop.
Offers to invite the others in for CI counselling. Siffrin refuses.
Siffrin starts trying to fix things with new timeloop knowledge.
Get the tool that someone forgot in the machine out before turning on.
Avoid email trails from the King to prevent being invited to eternal meetings (can sleep through, pretty nice loop)
Trip on a banana and get sent home the first day (painful but quick)
Learns to better guide the team through the project, getting each of them to offer insights and avoid being noticed by the King.
Finally, they all get to the presentation day. Finally, after many loops of fumbling, they have the Kingâs AND the CEO Euphrasieâs ear. Mira knows the right time to interject with important context to block the Kingâs attacks.
Finally, the King has nothing else he can say. Euphrasie invites the team to her office.
On the way there, the team celebrates because the King is finished, he fumbled so bad that no one is going to take him seriously anymore and everyone will be free!
Isa, who said he'd ask Sif something, chickens out last minute, says to come visit him on second shift sometime.
At the office, Euphrasie asks to speak with Siffrin alone after talking to Mira.
She starts to break down, telling Siffrin that the company is too far in the red to be saved and begs their forgiveness.
Act 3
Analyze phase:
Siffrin has a minor freak out.
Siffrin is fine.
Lots of little quests to better learn about the team and the King.
Trying to talk to the King to convince him not to fight during the meeting only ends up with him finding out about Snack Times. He uses this information to ban Bonnie (who caters the final presentation) from the premises and fire the whole team for divulging company secrets to an outsider.
Act 4
Improve:
Friend quests!
Mira
Talk through her worries about appearing at office events without a significant other (when the king is gone and the spirit committee is back)
Discuss the idea of her joining the spirit committee and arguing for language that invites friends, not just romantic partners.
Odile
Talk through her irritation that others assume she's a spy for the overseas competitor just because she worked for them prior.
Help her find the buried data of her predecessor in the depths of some old folders, talking with IT to get a specific file reader because it's an outdated file type, talking with another IT person to get access, talking to a few other people, before finally asking a random intern who has it as a PDF.
It's less about the data and more about the fact that Siffrin and others helped her without the expected suspicion.
Bonnie
Help them egg the Kingâs house, I dunno.
They open up about how Nille works excessively long hours because of the King overworking third shift and they never get to see her anymore.
Isa
Stay late one day to see the stars with him on second shift.
He opens up about having once been a quality intern under Odile's predecessor. How that kid in braids and big ol glasses knew practically everything about how to run CRAFT machines.
But, because of being part of Quality and being bad at communicating, no one was ever pleased to see that intern and the internship was the breaking point of loneliness and sadness being too much to stay the same.
He mentions how much happier he was having joined second shift as one of the guys until they refused to help Mira.
He insinuates that if he changes to be smart and buff that Sif might not be ashamed to know him.
The rest of the team bust in with a surprise âpicnicâ. It's wholesome and joyful.
Post friend quests, the others open up about more concerns or ideas they have and vastly improve productivity of the machine
They all beat the king and it's joyful and happy and they really really feel like not just coworkers but friends-
So why
Why doesn't it
Work?
Bad touch event:
On one loop, post-failed confession, Siffrin goes straight to Isa and pushes him up against a wall, tugs his shirtâs collar down and kisses his chest
Gets pushed back (because that's not workplace appropriate in the HALLWAY) and immediately loops.
Act 5
Control
Siffrin gets it in their head that clearly the problem is Mira having the final remark against the King. The data should win!
Failed friend quests where Siffrin just writes the entire perfect procedure at once and pushes it on everyone. When the others balk, he retorts with knowledge learned from the loops.
Everyone turns against him, arguing before shutting down all talk and just implementing changes.
He goes alone to the meeting with the king after endless hours of straight work, no food or breaks.
The team end up coming to their rescue with the help of Loop.
Ending:
Something something King was embezzling money and the team ended up getting him fired for that + the obvious emotional turmoil he put on everyone (Siffrinâs timecard as an impossible to deny proof to HR)
But Wishcraft!
Siffrin instead of getting big, he starts making wails of pain that damage electronics.
Euphrasie, who had called in for the meeting remotely this time, gets booted off the call.
The room light starts flickering and Sif is almost convinced he's going to cause a loop again due to all the damage caused when the others just sit by them and gently talk about how even if this whole company goes under, they all still want to hang out.
This slowly gets Siffrin to perk up. Each admit that all of them wanted to be involved in more projects with Siffrin. Isa even talks about considering a split shift to keep joining snack time.
Plus, they all gotta fix up third shift to let Nille back on a decent schedule for Bonnie! Why wouldn't Siffrin be involved with that??
Something something Isa confessing that he looked up the waiver from HR regarding coworkers dating. And admits he'd like to go on some casual dates with Siffrin if that was alright. Siffrin says yes to hanging out after work and leaves the dating possibility as a maybe.
Loop gets to retire early and rides off into the distance.
Euphrasie and Claude gets into selling bom- I mean fireworks.
I ran out of steam if you can't tell. I both badly want to flesh out the project they're working on and the insights each one end up making, as well as how corporate Change God loves Mirabelle and gives Siffrin a key but I ALSO just want to spend like 57 hours envisioning Isabeau and Siffrin in my old job's break room staring out the windows at the stars over the parking lot. Just. Vibing in the gentle almost-freedom with someone you care about but don't know how far you're allowed to speak that care aloud, if any.

types of weapons the hunters would use pt. 2
this time, the draw sword guild, definitely not my favorites :)
goto ryuji:
his sword is really cool, actually. a very nice ruby red. i think he would have a long sword and short sword (kind of like the daisho, a matched pair of japanese swords). otherwise, he would just use his hands. or his teeth. i think he just doesn't really care too much about how it's done, as long as it gets done




sugimoto reiji:
it's not stated in the manhwa what class he is, so i head canon him as an assassin because i think there's only one or two that are canon. so, i think he would have a dagger for short-range kills, and kunai and shuriken for long-range kills (slightly inspired by genji from overwatch's kunai and shuriken setup - the green even matches his usual suit...)


tanaka kenzo:
his fists suit him as a tank-esque fighter. if not that, then brass knuckles (slightly inspired by seo seongun from lookism... beloved...) also i just think he likes to get hands on with things, if him during the jeju arc gives us any clue what his fighting style is like


tawata kanae:
i think a two-sided spear or scimitar would be cool. she also has double blades as it is, so i think she just likes working with two instead of one. higher level of efficiency and all

fujishima tatsumi:
i think he would use things more for looks rather than efficiency, so anything cool or unique... a scythe seems up his alley. something like ruby's scythe (especially because it also works as a gun - and i think the engineering mind i've head canoned for him would love to fiddle with that and make it abysmally powerful)



ishida mari:
i headcanon him as a ranger because i think there's literally only taegyu otherwise. so he would use a compact bow as his main weapon (inspired by the chiron form of the coronacht bow), but he also uses a rapier. he strikes me as a rich kid that studied abroad in london and learned fencing (i know it's really specific but those are just the vibes i get)



shimizu akari:
she has her giant golden battle axe. i also think she would know boxing, so she has short-ranged hand-to-hand combat down


kumamoto atsushi:
he doesn't really need a weapon, since he has a strange fighting style, and i headcanon he transforms like yoonho. but... something blunt, like a mace or a club. maybe nunchucks? or something similar to the playful cloud weapon from jujutsu kaizen?


hamada kei:
they're an ice type mage, so they have a varied attack pattern, but i think they would like a bowstaff or a baton (inspired by nami's clima tact from one piece. it even has the bonus of controlling the weather through temperature - which kei can... sorta do, lmao). something to easily knock-out any monsters that get near them so they can run before they throw up. really, it's more of a back up weapon, since they would take anything out before it got too close to them (inspired by this video!)

izawa ippei:
the actual canon assassin. well, i headcanon he likes collecting all sorts of weapons and learning how to use them, but his go-to would be something slightly ranged, like a spear (inspired by maki's from jujutsu kaizen) or a scythe (i think something simple like the one from soul eater would suit him best)



hoshino minoru:
i also headcanon him as an assassin (i mean, look at that raid outfit - you can't tell me that's not built perfectly for stealth and a better range of motion!), but more short-ranged and borderline fighter style. i think he has a sickle for quick chain kills, and an old dagger for sneak kills. (sickle is directly inspired by percy jackson and chronos' sickle, but i don't think we ever got to see it in a movie, but something along these lines would fit well. dagger is more of the hunting/gutting knife from the hannibal nbc series)


well... that about wraps it up! i tried to get more visuals from media this time instead of just googling the weapon type from the internet. there are some pretty cool weapon designs already out there, unique ones that always catch my eye. i just like weapons a lot lmao

Promise Mascot Agency is an open world mascot management crime drama game is coming to Linux and Steam Deck via Windows PC. Thanks to the brilliant creativity of Kaizen Game Works. Due to make its way onto Steam. Kaizen Game Works, the award winning studio behind Paradise Killer, just released a gameplay deep dive video for their new release, Promise Mascot Agency. And as stated, this title is an open world mascot management crime drama â the first of its kind. Promise Mascot Agency is a unique experience, and it deserves some explanation. The new video covers the backstory of our hero Michi, the process of hiring mascots, the dangers of the job, and the mystery of a deadly curse. Plus, if you pay close attention, you might spot some new mascots and characters. Plus we also have details for Linux:
Lnux is not completely out of the question for the future... However, we do know that the game runs well via proton and we actively use the Steam Deck as a test device.
Kaizen's email mentions they're using Unreal Engine for development. This explains why Proton support works so well on Linux via Steam Deck. A native build isn't off the table either, so with good sales, we may see a native port after all. In the title, the locals of Kaso-Machi are there to help you out with Hero Cards. These cards represent different town residents who have your back. Heroes like Captain Sign (the only road sign-based superhero in Japan, as far as we know) and Mama-San (the local bar owner who's big into latex) are ready to assist you â once you befriend them, of course.

The deep dive video is narrated by a voice that might sound familiar to fans. Maybe it's worth a bit of detective work to figure out who it is? Kaizen has been thrilled with the positive reaction to the April reveal trailer for Promise Mascot Agency. Many people said things like, "I don't know what I'm looking at, but it looks awesome!" So, today's video aims to clear up some confusion, but not too much. There's still plenty of strangeness and mystery to uncover when it releases. Oli Clarke Smith, the title Director, shared his excitement: "Weâre so happy with the response to our announcement and weâve been itching to show you more. Promise Mascot Agency is a unique title and there is so much to see and do. This video shows you just the tip of the iceberg. The rumble of his engine stopped the minute he parked next to several other bikes in front of the Amazon Club. A quick glance at the various models, and Kaizen already knew there was someone he had noticed for a few months, probably queuing inside. Tonight, the club was hosting a very special ceremony, hidden from the dancing and partying crowd downstairs, and far from curious eyes. In an office upstairs, a few unlucky people were paying their weekly or monthly debt to the Cleaners, and Gambit was there to count every penny.Â
It was nothing too important for the Cleaners, almost a random supervision they had to come up with, more for the façade than anything else. Having people in debt was a rather normal and expected thing for the mafia, and the Amazon Club needed its cover to hide the main part of the business and the Nebula. Plus, the money was directly injected into the functioning of the Amazon. For that, shady men, lost dudes and other little yobbos would be there to give a few hundred bucks, barely nothing, but still enough to maintain appearances and keep a solid grip on their most chaotic territory. The Red District was, after all, a place with violence and barely no rights.Â
âBeer.â Kaizen announced while he made his way up to the bar. The bartender quickly uncapped a bottle of fresh blond beer that he slid onto the counter for the commander, before he attended to the excited clients of the night. Kaizen wasnât on duty, but he liked to hang around the club whenever he could, feeling at home in this buzzing living environment. Plus, he had remembered that tonight was a collect party, and he had expected to see a certain face among the regular payers of the organization. After he made sure that the club was running normally, at least in the dancing zone, he headed outside and decided to have a cigarette there.Â
After a few minutes, he heard the familiar clap of the metallic backdoor leading to the parking lot, a few heads, less joyful than the rest of the crowd, heading their way out of the club. Kaizen smirked, chestnut irises falling right onto the most imposing of those men. A certain blond head with a good display of muscles and tattoos. He leaned against the barrier, a gray cloud of smoke invading the atmosphere.
Tonight, he had decided that he wanted to make a move on that man.Â
