"It's been a while, most people call me Sanzu now." He liked it that way - the rejection of his family name (and his family's rejection of him) was what he was known by. "But of course, call me whatever you like."
He hadn't seen Shinichiro for a few years - it would have been before the attack... He wondered briefly if he should have visited him in the hospital, like Shinichiro had done for him all those years ago.
"Are you doing well?"

@kakuseii said: âť› You were chasing a hallucination, imagining things. It happens. âťś - Miyoko to Ciara
THE WALKING DEAD SEASON ONE SENTENCE STARTERS
Tumblr media
SEVERAL MOMENTS PASS WHILE CIARA STARES OFF INTO SPACE, trying her best to focus both her vision and her mind back on reality. The rest of her body sits limply, her legs tucked underneath her-- the only real movement to come from her, other than the small rises and falls of her chest and shoulders with each breath, is her right hand fiddling with the rings on her ring and index fingers of the same hand. Toying with those memoirs of her parents has always helped her self-soothe before, and she can only distantly hope it has the same effect now.
《 ...How long was I out? 》 She eventually signs to ask, slowly turning her gaze to meet Miyoko's. Her vision remains a tad unclear, but she's doing much better than she was earlier. However, there's a sense of dread in her gut. She's never been like this when she enters a trance meant to find a target of her quirk...
Has she regressed again, then? Is she really imagining things again? She's beginning to recall trying to track down the call of her mother... Maybe she should lay off the alcohol again.
It was just such a stressful night last night. She couldn't help reaching for a bottle.
Tumblr media
《 Well... I guess it doesn't matter too much. I'm glad you caught me, though. 》 Miyoko truly continues to be a savior, don't they? Ciara can't help but feel even more grateful than before to have them in her life. What would have happened if she kept chasing that hallucination?

Remembering himself suddenly, Inui quickly went to turn the lights on - Koko had gotten them set up with a proper generator some time ago. He hadn't heard a lot of details about Shinichiro's attack but he knew it had affected his vision.
"I would understand if you were, I never asked if I could stay, I just..." If Inui was honest with himself, if Shin hadn't been hurt then he would have found somewhere else to stay after he'd gotten out of juvie.
He was too far gone now and he didn't want his idol to see how awful he had become. Though... Maybe there was something he could do with his growing tendancies towards violence.
"I heard it was some delinquents that messed you up. You should tell me who they are."
Even though he was expecting it, the voice startled him nevertheless. Maybe it was the way it sounded, the way it shook. The way it desperately questioned him in the dark. Shinichiro cocked his head to the side, hand tight around his cane.
“So it is you…” he breathed out.
He wondered if Inui had been staying here all this time, using this place as a home. Shinichiro supposed it was better than nothing, Inui had always seemed to like it at the shop and it wasn’t like Shinichiro was going to be able to get back to it any time soon. The idea stung him a little though, reminding him of a failure he had forgotten, how he should’ve taken Inui in all those years ago.
Why hadn’t he? Did he even have a good reason for having left Inui at the shop as if keeping two parts of his life separate on purpose? Shinichiro sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
“Why’re you so worked up, Inui? It’s just me.” He tried to chuckle, to spread some calm into the space. “I’m not here to kick you out or anything.”

They had been keeping an eye on Keisuke Baji for a while. He'd never quite fallen into line and neither Mucho nor Sanzu liked that. Since he'd left Toman, Sanzu had been trailing him. He wasn't supposed to act but he could watch.
He'd seen Baji take Chifuyu into the abandoned arcade. He'd seen Kazutora taking Mikey's new favourite in. He'd watched a lot - all? - of Valhalla leave but... Not the vice captain. So he followed.
Even Sanzu was surprised by the brutality he found. He hadn't been close to him but he'd known Baji since childhood and that he had become capable of this... Sanzu scooped up the faux blond and managed to get him back to the Toman hideout. He began to clean off the blood and patch him up. Mucho had made him learn first aid for situations like this, and it was useful it seemed.

The Haitanis didn't control Roppongi with sheer force alone; though they probably could if they wanted to. But they didn't have a gang and they didn't want one. So they gathered other delinquents when they needed the extra manpower. Like today.
They'd needed to crush some worthless upstart gang that were getting a little too confident in themselves. The fight wasn't satisfying, though, and Ran was still quite riled up.
"You." He curled his fingers around his braid as he rounded on a nearby stranger. "You were pretty good out there; you wanna keep going?"

Shinichiro leans his head against his cane and stares out into the void in front of him. He knows Kazutora is there, can hear him breathing. "You know I wanted to hate you," he says matter-of-fact, letting the words hang in the air. "For quite a bit I struggled with that hate, you know? I lost a lot of myself that day because of you."
The man sighs and a smile stretches gently across his lips. "But I can't blame you. You were just protecting your best friend. What more could I expect from Mikey's friends?" Not after the things he had done to protect his brother or his own friends.
(from survival!shini, either during bloody halloween or post baji death in juvie, your call)
After Draken had come to see him, Kazutora hadn't really expected any other visitors. Maybe Mitsuya - he was the only one Tora was unsure of. Baji was gone, Draken had come with a message from Mikey so he wasn't visiting, Pah was incarcerated as well... And beyond Toman, Hanma wouldn't walk himself into a detention center, not that Tora thought he would try to visit either way.
So when he was brought to the visitation room, to say he was shocked was an understatement when he saw Shinichiro sitting behind the glass. He was hesitant to sit down but he did, lowering his head. He sat and listened and focused on breathing so the guilt didn't eat at his newly regained grips on himself.
"I... Know what it's like to hate." He said softly, digging his nails into his palm.
That hatred he'd had for Mikey had grown and twisted those two years, it became its own beast that devoured every rational part of him. The only way he could kill that beast was to kill Mikey, or at least that was what he'd managed to convince himself of.
"I never got to say sorry for what I did. I... Wasn't sorry then. But I am now. I'm sorry. For every part of it. We shouldn't have been there in the first place, I..." He shook his head.
You were just protecting your best friend.
And now Baji was dead. All of this resulted in his death and... Kazutora bit back tears.
"... What about now? I tried to kill Mikey. Do you hate me now?"

Sanzu inclined his head in appreciation. He stood in stark contrast from the uncontrollable, horrid brat that Takeomi claimed he was. It was because of Mikey, and Mucho. Sometimes he wondered if Takeomi would be bitter knowing that Mucho had managed what he never could.
He notes the hesitance in his reply but doesn't point it out.
"I wouldn't dare compare our injuries, but it did take me a long time to adjust to mine. I can understand to a point." Having such strange and obvious scarring was difficult for a child, especially one as unstable as he could be. "If there is anything I can do to assist, I would be happy to. You're the Commander's brother, and you've always been good to me."
Beyond his friendship with Mikey, visiting the Sanos had always been an escape when he was young. It was something he would always appreciate.
"Sanzu, then," Shinichiro mused aloud. Takeomi had been a chatterbox when it came to Haruchiyo and how annoying and frustrating his sibling had been. Shinichiro had honestly taken it in stride, never quite understanding a family falling apart like that. Then again....His thoughts trailed away, refusing to touch the painful parts of his memories.
Am I doing well? Shinichiro didn't know how to answer at first. It was weird because a part of him knew he needed to keep the façade going that everything was alright. His impulse hadn't been as bad, hardly wishing to fight him for control over his body anymore. But otherwise, he was struggling and didn't want to admit it.
It was hard losing everything he had wanted in life. But perhaps it was karma after all.
"I'm making do," he finally replied, trying to get a look at his hand and seeing only the shadow of its shape in his eyes. "Can't see for shit. Miss the shop. But I'm alive. That counts for something right?"
