SHE/HER.   )   ⸺   Ꮺ  ⋆   greetings, buffalos !  walking around campus, sporting her DEAD SISTER’S LOCKET we’ve spotted JESSICA ONO,  a twenty eight year old who contributes to our thriving community as a SCOUT. according to our intel, they’ve been around the sanctuary for ONE YEAR and what we know about her, aside from the fact that they DO agree with the decision to close the gates, is that she was a dancer before the outbreak but she's never danced since ; she keeps a journal with her at all times but writes in it sparingly, only the most important things are ever added ; is incredibly hot-tempered and finds it impossible to fully trust people, but will still risk her life for anyone.  doesn’t that make them fantastic ?  we think it does, and that’s why we appreciate her so much, grateful for what they give to our community.

HISTORY.

tw death, minimal gore, alcohol

the outbreak started when she was 16, never a chance for her to even experiment with what felt like new-found womanhood, no longer just a kid. she'd give anything now to still be that kid, instead of so violently forced into becoming a survivor.

she lost her youngest sister just when she thought she was succeeding in keeping her safe from everything. it was just them left, their parents gone years before so early into the outbreak. jess and her sister grace floated around groups, trying their best to stay in numbers if they had any chance of surviving and doing what they needed to do to stay safe.

they saw almost every group crumble, always human error, always greed. if there wasn't some betrayal or bid for power that caused its ruin, jess would take grace in the night and sneak away instead, convinced she got a bad feeling about the people they were entrusting their lives with. she doesn't think the outbreak changed people, just allowed them the freedom to be who they've always been. 

when it was just them on their own, the rain forcing them to find shelter, they'd broken into a drugstore to try and find something useful. it hadn't been looted yet, so the pair were in high spirits. before they knew it, their exit was blocked, and any other attempt to find one was met with the same fate. eventually jess found a broken sky light and started to climb through, her hand extended to pull up her sister. next thing she knew, the infected were just beneath grace, swiping at the younger girl. jessica couldn't hold on or pull her up no matter how hard she tried, the rain was coming down hard and she just kept slipping. it went too quick, jess didn't have a chance to react as their hands finally broke free. jess swiped one final try to catch her sister, but only tore away her necklace instead. jess stayed sobbing on the rooftop for a while after grace's screams finally quietened. she had her sister's skin beneath her nails from holding on so tightly,  tighter each time she felt her slipping. she still gets nightmares of that slipping sensation,  her being so close but just a smidge out of reach, with her sister’s screams echoing over and over. after that, she lost her way.

she acted riskier, careless in her attempt at survival. she just didn't know what exactly she was doing anymore, who she was fighting for or why she was still alive. it was in her lowest moments she found someone who looked just as beat up as her, low on everything, and not sure where to go; the injured william barlowe. it was her fault he fell, spooking him by accident when investigating what all the noise was... still, she wasn't sure if she should've helped, her own needs were desperate and he was a stranger, but ultimately jessica stayed with him and fixed him up. she didn't fully trust him at first but eventually she could tell that they were the same, and he looked out for her, too.

now at boulder, jess finds herself on the outside more than others. being a scout suits her for so many reasons: she likes to be in the know, would rather put herself in danger than anyone else risk it, and if all things go tit’s up, at least she's in top form. she even appreciates the quarantine, a way to debrief and set herself straight without people around her.

PERSONALITY.

she likes her solitude,  likes having as minimal people to worry about as possible. despite this,  jess deeply cares for people, and she doesn't wish harm on anyone— but she will do anything to keep those she cares for safe, and that means anything.

she finds it incredibly hard to trust people fully, even if she really likes you she will always have her guard up and expect the worst. it really does take a lot for her to get to the trust completely point as a lot of people have broken it for her in the past — when she does trust you, she is the most loyal person

can be extremely stubborn, sarcastic and blunt at times, often because she doesn't want to reveal or talk about something but it really depends on the day

a hot-head xxx i feel like she's learnt to just shut up most of the time because she always says something she regrets. very very easy to piss off x

MISC THINGS.

preferred weapon is a bow and arrow or crossbow, likes that it's more or less silent in the grand scheme of things but always has a knife on her too

she's very flexible, nimble, light on her feet and agile from her dancing background and she uses these techniques when scouting, helping her reach tougher spots. if the world ever goes back to normal she'd have a parkour channel for sure

always wears her sister's locket around her neck, it has a photo of jess and grace when they were younger

speaks english, japanese & french fluently

WANTED CONNECTIONS.

if she's not with will then she's definitely with fellow scouts /scavengers /trainers/trainees ! basically at the training yards working out a lot of the time… so sparring or general working out partners would be lovely pls…

Okay, I'm sure one day I'll do A Mother's Pride with Cersei Lannister and with Celia as Adeleine Kane, with the song Mother's Daughter. But the question is this: Why did Cersei only have one daughter, was she to prevent Maggy the Frog's prophecy? Does she know how screwed the kingdom and her daughter will be if Renly takes advantage of this to marry her niece or worse, to make Margeryn the queen or Robert's lover?

In this Maggy’s prophecy is never given. And Cersei pushes for Celia to be recognized as Robert’s heir when it’s apparent “she won’t be having anymore children”. And while Tywin doesn’t particularly like it, he will make sure his grandchild is on the throne.

Cersei puts it in such a way to say that a woman of Baratheon blood should have been queen a long time ago to save them all from the horrors of the later reign of the Targaryens. Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen that Never Was, could have prevented the Dance of Dragons if she had simply been made queen. To sell it to Robert, she told him it would be a huge middle finger to the Targaryens for putting a Baratheon queen on the throne for passing over the daughter of Jocelyn Baratheon

CRACKS KNUCKLES

i got two main parties so I'm talking about both!

PARTY 1: ORDER OF THE CHEESEWHEEL

Irezumi: Drow Rogue, my character. Chaotic good, not always great at perceiving things but she found a cat once. Kept the cat, his name is Cheese Wheel. Loves being on the surface, loves greenery. Still reminisces about the Underdark.

Velria: Human Barbarian. The youngest of our party at 17, she ran away from her noble family for adventuring. Likes girls, and likes carrying around a whole armory of weapons on her back.

Reina: Halfling Sorcerer. Came from a cult, had an adventuring party before ours but whatever happened to them isn't clear. Often mistaken for a child due to her size.

Solar: Dragonborn Monk. Raised by his father, but they were attacked by worshippers of Tiamat. In the second session of the campaign he bought as many cheese wheels as he can carry, hence why our party likes cheese so much.

Haddock: Kobold Rogue/Fighter(? Teck if you're reading this correct me if I'm wrong). Was part of a criminal organization once, now adventuring. They're missing an eye, and once had a kenku alchemist fashion sunglasses for themself. Unfortunately the kenku put explosive runes on everyone's sunglasses.

Sylyras: Winged Elf Ranger. Haven't seen much of her as of late bc scheduling conflicts but she and Irezumi are homies.

Volurk: Half-Orc(?) Druid. Like Sylyras, haven't seen much of him, but he turned into a wolf once. That's cool!

Zoltai: Aasimar Warlock. They're a researcher into everything and I respect that so much. Loves books. Once flirted with a vampire to keep her distracted despite being thoroughly uninterested (by aspect of being aroace).

PARTY 2: THE OVERGROWTH CAMPAIGN

Sybil of Hvallatr: Merfolk Bard, my character. Has a cool crown that he can talk to that definitely isn't evil. Started off pretty chill, if up for anything. Now he murdered a man in cold blood and has become a lich (the lich part isn't that big a deal, everyone in the party is trying to transcend humanity so we can go back in time).

Theran: Elf Rogue. His stealth rolls regularly roll above 30. Often sneaks past time itself. Sybil got to turn him into a Therannosaurus once. Got turned into an angel, but the god who angelified him isn't exactly a friend...

S'vatu: I don't know her actual race, but catgirl Bloodsight Cleric. Answers to the luck god Kane. Not really sure if it's worshipping though because Kane just hangs out with us. Anyway she died once but came back to life, and this was before she was in our party. Recently became a lich, got tired of being undead, and has become a fully robot catgirl.

Kal: Human Hexblade Warlock. Was sent on a suicide mission during his time in the army, where everyone but him died. Still keeps his morals, also took out a dragon summon that was at 3/4ths health in one hit. Has magical armor on his very being that protects him from divine magic, *except* for his eye. This armor should also let him time travel as long as he covers the eye with lead.

Henry Moon: Idk dude they were here once because the player switched their Owlfolk Cleric to play this guy but I haven't seen him in session since. I do know he is the Horseman of Death though, and he's helping us because the current world ending threat isn't supposed to be the apocalypse.

There's also another campaign that was ehhh. but I did play a tiefling wizard (who im repurposing for a cyberpunk oneshot) and the only other party member i remember was the ace half elf bard who liked coffee!

16. Are they religious?

Not at all. Reina doesn’t really believe in things she can’t see and ‘God’ has never been kind to her so she has no reason to be religious. She’ll go to church for Rhea’s sake a few Sundays out of the year but that’s about the extent of it, and every time she steps inside a chapel she’s afraid she’ll burst into flames.

31. Does this character ever put somebody else’s needs before their own? Who do they do this for? How often do they do this?

Rarely, but she sometimes puts her daughter’s needs before her own. Like if Iris needs to be picked up from cheerleading practice and Reina has a nail appointment she will 9/10 times cancel that nail appointment (but that has literally never happened for either of her other children and they’ve been left at practice countless times). So yeah, she’s pretty selfless :/

37. How easy is it for them to say “I love you”? Do they say it without meaning it?

I think we all know it’s very difficult for Reina to tell people she loves them and honestly, she’s ever said it to anyone other than Iris and occasionally Rhea. She would say it without meaning it to manipulate someone but even then it’d be difficult for her to choke out, so she’s never used it as a form of manipulation before.

47.  What’s their pain tolerance like?

Pretty high compared to most people, Reina can take a beat down like no other and she doesn’t usually let it show when she’s in pain. She held her own against Kane and only gave up acting tough when he started gutting her, which I think shows she’s a tough cookie.

Lmao Reina hates animals and anything furry and she did not want any pets, never has, but then Iris asked for a bunny for her birthday and then later begged for the ‘unicorn’ that was at her birthday party, so now the family obviously has a pet bunny and a pony they keep at a rented stable.

* / BIO: Her parents named her after the moon, but even the mood has a dark side. Artemisia, better known as Mimi, was the perfect daughter. Sweet, sophisticated, poised ─ everything two high ranking faculty members of the elite private spy university Gallagher could want in a daughter. Since birth, Mimi was groomed knowing she’d follow in the Sutton ( her mother’s maiden name ) legacy and attend the institute, same as her cousins would. As a child, the reality of it didn’t bother her. Along with the private self-defense and boxing classes with her father and weapons training with her mother, there were other more exciting extracurriculars she had to distract her.

Violin and horseback riding were just two phases that quickly came and went, but her love for dance always stayed. What was meant to be an after school activity soon spiraled into tumbling classes, weekend competitions, and many 1st place trophies. It was like an unspoken issue in her household. Though her love for dance ─ ballet specifically ─ eclipsed her love for anything else, so much so that she hoped to make a career out of it, her parents remained steadfast on her attending Gallagher. Upon entering high school, suddenly Mimi’s lack of time and the reality that her dreams would be crushed began to cave in on her. A usually happy and upbeat girl now only had four years left of freedom. And she held onto those four years the best way she knew how ─ by making memories.

Being sent to a spy prep boarding school 30 minutes from home was the best, and worst, thing her parents could’ve done. Separated from her dance team all week only elevated her anxiety levels, leading her to have full-blown panic attacks when things became too much. Desperate to find some means of control in her life, Mimi turned to what all the rich, spoiled, and rotten kids at her school were doing. Sex. Partying. A bit of crime. Shoplifting here, a quickie there. Mimi longed for some sort of...connection. Some control. Something to make her feel whole now that she was losing her grasp on the life she truly wanted. The weekends were her escape, where she could return home, or better yet to the dance studio, and just let out all of pent up energy weekly stressors had built up inside of her. And that’s how her life was for four years. Trying to survive the week, and let loose on the weekends. She didn’t care how her reputation preceded her. She didn’t care that past boyfriends had convinced her to do things ─ on camera ─ then leaked those things when broken up. It’s not like her reputation mattered anymore. It’s not like the nudes would stop her from going to Gallagher of all places. Not when she had the connections she had. So, she moved onto the next. And the next. Falling in love, falling in sin, and trying to keep her head above water.

When graduation day had come, something changed. Mimi had spent 4 years essentially learning strength and self-assurance in her day to day classes ( after all what was a spy who lacked confidence? a dead spy, that’s what ), so she proposed a deal with her parents. A year. Give her a year to follow her passion. If she failed, she’d go to Gallagher willingly. If not, she’d get to live her life the way she wanted. It took some begging, some pleading, a few fat tears, but eventually, they conceded. Mimi’s first destination was New York. Finding work was hard though, as was school. Places like Julliard and Joffrey already filled their quota for the year and productions had already been cast for the fall. She found luck, though, as a background dancer in a small production Off-Broadway. Better than nothing, and it was a great starter position as she was slightly rusty from not dancing as regularly as she did as a child. What she thought was a shot, only turned into tragedy. A few months in, she did one of the worst things that could happen to a dancer: she tore her ACL. Recovery was imminent but spanned nearly a year. And by that time, her time was up. No dream was fulfilled. No opportunity was given. Mimi packed her bags and began at Gallagher, just like she promised her parents.

Now a second year at the school, Mimi has grown accustomed to that drowning feeling that started during her high school years. If anything, she enjoys the numbness now. Anything is better than the pain.

16. Who is your character loyal to?

The Club-- meaning as an entity, maybe not each individual but even then it’s questionable if he wouldn’t be. He’s loyal to Reina and Rowan and Andy, as they are considered family. And he is loyal to Sutton, his girlfriend because he cannot imagine doing to her what Allana did to him. He’s loyal to Ryder to a point but knows he would side with the Club if it came down to it-- because he has to be.

17. In what ways does your character relate to the God/Goddess they represent?

Honestly, this is easily a question I’ve wanted to answer for ages because I really try to incorporate the Greek God Hephaestus into Maddox all the time. Besides the fact that Hephaestus was considered sort of an outcast from the rest of Olympus, something that Maddox can relate to based on being one of the more soft-hearted, Maddox obviously has a craftsman’s heart and soul. His livelihood, his hobby, his solace is all in his workshop and at the shop, both of which he found following his own mothers lack of responsiveness to him. Similar to Hera casting Hephaestus from Mt. Olympus. In other accounts, Heph is cast out by Zeus, which is why I have made him a bit more hesitant with Jackson and not really able to form a bond with him/be fully committed to him. 

Maddox’s sometimes short fuse is inspired by Hephaestus also being the God of Fire/Volcanoes, obviously a shitty metaphor for it but still. He tends to go a bit overboard with most of his emotions and leaves his heart on his sleeve. 

Obviously, the great love triangle of Aphrodite, Hephaestus and Ares was a large plot point for Maddox, ending in a broken heart and yet another L for Hephaestus as many accounts have him either being forced to marry Aphro or him just being desperate for any sort of love or attention (in negative ways too-- like Maddox’s sleeping with Blake). Maddox was fast in falling for Allana and fell into the trap of Aphrodite in which he was rejected as she made her way to Ares’ arms.

Yet another story sort of inspired Maddox’s reaction to Reina’s attack on Allana was (not only the gif set) but also when Hephaestus finally returned following Hera casting him out of Mt. Olympus, he makes her a throne and when she sits upon it. When she goes to stand again, she cannot get up, cannot move. When asked to help her he replied, “I have no mother”. Hence, Maddox leaving Reina following keeping her at gun point.

Admittedly, Seth didn’t see the point in messing with Old Ladies. He got it— it eventually fucked with the Thane men but really, it seemed like a lack of foresight. If you left the men able to retaliate then they would, without hesitation. Especially if it meant their wives would feel safer. But it wasn’t his Club nor was it his direction to take the Club. He was just happy that they were fucking doing things, honestly. So when Kane told Seth Carter to fuck with Layla, he would do just that.

It’d taken a bit of spying and gaining intelligence about her schedule but after digging a bit, he’d found his in. Layla had been deep in the life and a pimp was still at large. He could only assume that Layla had been mistreated by the pimp considering she had fled and apparently landed on coming to this shitty town. It was a lot of what ifs but based on his intelligence, it may just be enough. Even if she held no ill will toward the man— Robert— no one would believe it. Pimps were seen as dirty, scummy, and definitely not someone anyone would miss. And this is where the planned formed. He would frame the Thane wife for Robert’s murder. And he would make sure it stuck, if it killed him. He wasn’t into the easy fixes that Kane had set up for Reina and Rowan. With both women, they would have a scar that would remind them of Kane but Layla would have a murder charge. One without an alibi, with a motive, and with an opportunity but Seth had to be patient.

So he worked and worked for about a month before he found the opportune time. He’d been working on acquiring Layla’s fingerprints, trying to make sure they weren’t partials, making sure they were lifted and planted easily. Sure, he’d wipe the gun so it wasn’t so easy but he had to leave a bit of evidence behind. He ate at the diner, making sure he got Layla’s sections every so often, taking the prints from the ceramic plates, leaving clear oils for him. He’d listen and watch her patterns like a predator waiting for his prey to make a mistake. And she would. She did.

It was a Thursday morning while Seth sipped on his coffee, just as he did nearly every day, even before his mission was set. Layla mentioned she was going on a trip to her boss at the diner saying she just needed the weekend. She didn’t mention why but later, he’d find she was leaving town by herself and that’s all he needed. Seth had long since knew where Robert resided. He knew where he would be eventually unless he conveniently also made a trip while Layla did. But Robert wouldn’t be so lucky. He couldn’t be that lucky. As soon as Layla’s car left the town, alone, Seth slithered out of town and onto Texas to start his plan.

First, he found Robert, which wasn’t hard when he knew where his work was and his home were. He spent most of Friday watching the man, making sure that his movements wouldn’t be too missed. It wasn’t a lot of time but he’d had a private investigator checking him out too. The man didn’t have many friends, if any, he didn’t seem to have family, at least that visited and Saturday nights weren’t too busy besides some time spent at the bar. Once the man came home on Saturday, Seth would already be there.

He sat in a recliner in the home, the Primordial gun from his pasts life warm on his hip, just waiting to be fired. He only placed one bullet in the chamber since that’s all it would take. Seth wasn’t the type to let someone linger. He hated torture because he hated prolonging the inevitable. One shot from the recliner to the brain, making sure the height difference between the shooter and Layla wouldn’t be evident. He’d thought over every detail he could. He kept a mask on, his car in a Walmart parking lot, his gloves secured— he’d even figured out that this recliner was the one that Robert would come to to sit in the dark. The silencer would mask the noise, leaving the body for someone to find. Whoever it was would come long after Seth and Layla were back in Olympus. It would be so easy.

When the man finally entered, Seth couldn’t help but smile from behind his mask, the dark keeping him concealed until Robert leaned over to turn on the familiar lamp. As soon as he did just as he said, Seth lifted the gun. “Layla Thane says hello,” he taunted before shooting the man in the brain. The blood spatter launched into the ceiling, all over the furniture behind him and the body collapsed to the ground.

Seth stood, pulling out a UV light he always kept with him for excursions like this, he double checked for blood on the recliner, hair, anything linking him to his house. Without any such thing appearing beneath the light or with his own eyes (behind glasses), he left the gun on the floor, placing each fingerprint precisely as the blood spread from Robert’s body. In his last attempt to make it seem like an amateur performed the murder, or just someone in a rush, he wiped the gun with a paper towel. The residue would still linger but may not be as clear, if he did it well enough. And leaving the Primordial gun would point toward Olympus if they would trace any of it. But the fingerprints were the smoking gun, truly. Once he was satisfied with the crime scene he’d made easy but not quite blatant, he continued out of the house, taking off the shoe covers once he made it to the porch.

Seth let the night mask him, the quaint neighborhood already long since asleep. It would be hours until the first of the neighborhood would wake and days till someone would find Robert. Once Seth made it far enough away, he removed his mask, gloves, and placed them in his bag. He wandered into the back of the Walmart parking lot, entering his car with his back to the camera’s he’d already avoided. And with a smile on his face, he lingered around the town till Sunday morning hit, driving back into town. He stayed around Layla’s home long enough for her to return before heading home for sleep. And he would certainly sleep peacefully knowing that there was no way Layla Thane wouldn’t go down for this. Murder charges when everything pointed your way wasn’t something the Thanes could pay off this time.
