A/N: Barely any of the characters in HQ look Japanese at all (maybe that's just an anime thing but whatever) so I decided to give them ethnicities. I'm not being racist in any type of way and this is just for entertainment purposes!

GILAS ROAD TO CHINA

Fiba world cup is already set, the best basketball teams around yhe world will collide to know which national team is the best in the world. The national basketball team of the Philippines, the Gilas Pilipinas made it to world. The last time Gilas made to the world cup was at year 2014 that was led by coach chot reyes.

This year Gilas Pilipinas face a lot challenges in their road to world cup. Gilas first assignment was the Japan national team. Jayson Castro turned into heroic mode and help Gilas to win on the road. 3 days later, Gilas regroup to face the chinese Taipei. Gilas has a slow start but they still managed to defeat Chinese-Taipei 90-83 at home.

The team suffered its 1st defeat at 2nd window when they fight against the Australia. They loss to tbee powerhouse team of Australia at Melbourne, Australia. But coach Chot Reyes and his troops regroup 3 days later to defeat the Japan 89-84.

Gilas next assignment was the Chinese Taipei, Jun Mar Fajardo leads the team to defeat the Chinese Taipei 93-71, at this point gilas was tied for 1st at Australia with a 4-1 record. July 2, 2018 Gilas fortune was about to change as they face again the Australian team. They lost 89-53 game at the Philippine Arena but what we would remember was the brawl between Gilas and Aussies, that causes the suspension of the 10 players on both parties. The incident causes a lot of changes at gilas fortune, Chot Reyes stepped down as head coach of Gilas and Yeng Guiao replaces Chot as head coach.

The new look Gilas squad tested at its first game to Iran and they lose 81-73 despite of a big game from Standhardinger that made his gilas debut. 4 days later Gilas revenged with a 92-81 come from behind win over Qatar in a closed door match as part of the sunction of the brawl.

Gilas set to play the whole 5th window in front of the home crowd. Gilas battle Kazakhstan but lose in 92-88 game despite of great performance from Stanley Pringle. The team still have a chance to finish 5th window with a win as they will face the Haddadi and Barammi-less Iran, but Gilas loses their steam and their 5th window ended with a loss 78-70.

The 6th and final window of Gilas Pilipinas started at February 21, 2019. The team should defeat their last 2 assignment in order for them to clinch a spot at Fiba World cup 2019. Their 1st match for the 6th window was tha Qatar, Gilas makes the Qatar feel the true meaning of Filipino Basketball by giving a blowout win 84-46 in favor of the Philippines, Andray Blatche leads the pack with 17 points and 15 rebounds. The gilas next assignment was a rematch with the Kazakhstan team. This is a must-win game for the gilas because if they win they could clinch a spot on the world cup. The Gilas squad sufferred a cold welcome from the Kazkhs but Gilas just let that situation pass through and it also gives them a boost in their hearts to win this match. Andray Blatche and the rest of the gilas controls the game at the very beginning until the end and they finish the game with a 93-75 win for the Gilas.

The Gilas clinched a spot at the world cup 2019. Gilas face highs and lows on their road to the world cup. The Gilas will give all of their heart and effort to make their fellow country men proud of them.

Hey I saw you reblog something that said "recast black widow with an asian actress" and that got me thinking for a Black Widow muse. I know it's in reference to Scarlett taking a Japanese role but actually I'd like to use an Asian woman whose ethnicity was part of the former USSR since that's where Nat is from. So from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgia, or Current Russian Siberian. North Korea, Vietnam, and Mongolia were close allies ---

— so maybe fcs of those ethnicities too but I would really prefer to stick with the USSR ones if possible! Preferably around Scarlett Johansson’s age. Please & thank you!

New story in Politics from Time: Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Warns Kazakhstan of China’s Influence

(TASHKENT, Uzbekistan) — U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday pressed Kazakhstan to be wary of Chinese investment and influence, urging the Central Asian nation and others to join calls demanding an end to China’s repression of minorities.

Bringing a message similar to the one he has delivered repeatedly to other countries, Pompeo told Kazakh officials that the attractiveness of Chinese investment comes with a cost to sovereignty and may hurt, instead of help, the country’s long-term development.

“We fully support Kazakhstan’s freedom to choose to do business with whichever country it wants, but I am confident that countries get the best outcomes when they partner with American companies,” he said. “You get fair deals. You get job creation. You get transparency in contracts. You get companies that care about the environment and you get an unsurpassed commitment to quality work.”

Pompeo was expected to make the same case in Uzbekistan, where he arrived late Sunday and went immediately into a meeting with religious leaders to discuss religious freedom. He planned to meet on Monday with Uzbek officials and hold security talks with the foreign ministers of the five Central Asian nations

Pompeo began his brief visit to Kazakhstan by meeting with ethnic Kazakhs whose families have gone missing or been detained in China’s widespread crackdown on Muslims and other ethnic and religious minorities in its western Xinjiang region.

“The protection of basic human rights defines the soul of a nation,” he said, thanking Kazakhstan for taking in those fleeing persecution. “The United States urges all countries to join us in pressing for immediate end to this repression. We ask simply for them to provide safe refuge and asylum for those seeking to flee China. To protect dignity, just do what’s right.”

Pompeo also congratulated Kazakhstan on its repatriation of Islamic State fighters from Iraq and Syria. Kazakhstan has taken back nearly 600 fighters and family members detained in areas formerly controlled by the group.

“I have and will continue to commend the Kazakhstani government for its leadership in repatriating foreign terrorists fighters and their families from Iraq and Syria,” he said. “I hope this commitment to justice will inspire other nations to do the same.”

Kazakhstan has come under some criticism for pressuring an activist who had campaigned for the release of ethnic Kazakhs in China. Threatened with a long prison sentence, the man signed an admission of guilt for inciting ethnic tensions.

Pompeo also urged Kazkh officials to continue reforms that would allow greater U.S. investment and said the two nations were discussion the possibility of opening direct passenger flights between the countries.

At a news conference with Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Pompeo praised Kazakhstan for its efforts to counter the spread of a new virus from China. He said the United States is helping the country with expertise from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and providing laboratory equipment.

Kazakhstan’s “quick action to stop the spread of the virus has been incredibly impressive,” he said.

Kazakhstan is among the growing list of countries that have suspended travel links with China.
