Lacquered tray made out of kiri wood (桐―paulownia) decorated with patrinia flowers. Patrinia　（女郎花） is a genus of herbaceous plants native to grassy mountain habitats in China, Siberia and Japan. In Japan it is associated with "Beauty" and "Ephemeral Love" and its swaying in the autumn breeze is reminiscent of a delicate and lonely woman. Coming in its original box, this delicate tray is from the Taisho era.
