I’m entranced by shibari- it’s evocative and emotional. Pose is based off a beautiful image of @notcamdamage in @kissmedeadlydoll ’s ropes. She looks like she is falling up into the clouds. https://www.instagram.com/p/B3LFpkIFhqV/?igshid=tgxxj8h07kpm

do you have any posts/tips on what ropes are good? also, do you think it's worth to start learning even when you can/want to only do it to yourself?
jute: my personal fave, and the only thing i ever use. easiest to work with, but admittedly it bleeds little fibers like goddam everywhere. most common choice for people who value rope as an artistic form. my pick: classic/oiled from mocojute.com.
hemp: comparable in price to jute. softer than jute, but also heavier/slower. more common for no-frills ties such as those you find in american porn. my personal pick: twistedmonk.com
cotton or nylon: cheaper than the options above. MUCH slower. more common for basic ties, decorative body harnesses, or “bedroom” bondage.
common choice for beginners who want to try rope with a minimum initial investment; but frankly, if you’re starting with a passion for rope, i would save your money and skip straight to investing in jute or hemp.
Rope from a hardware store or climbing supply: just don’t. the same characteristics that make these ropes ideal for tying down luggage make them shitty to work with on people.
and lastly, there are a lot of people who elevate self-tying (and even, self-suspension) to an artform beyond words. check out @theropediary or @kissmedeadlydoll for some great examples.

I kept these photos like a treasure, because they are from an important moment in my life, with people -artists that I value and admire. This was 2016 on my trip to New York where I met @kissmedeadlydoll l and we joined our ropes in the beautiful gaze of the photographer @twofacedkitten 🥰 You can see the same scars that we have the people who we do self tying 💪 Please check at the work of these two goddesses of art.
