Small Steps, Incremental Changes, Tipping Point In Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point he looks behind the big changes to find they began with many small steps. Some by quite a few people who meet at a certain point to create something amazing. This year, with pandemic uncertainty, how can we possibly plan for the year? I decided to set big dreams aside, and focus on small steps that walk towards dreams. The dreams are big, but in reality they might not happen this year, but they will happen. In the meantime, I'll walk towards them. My word for this year is two "Small Steps". How's your goal setting going? Books I've read in January towards my 52 Books in 2022 Goal (I just need to work on which category they come under): Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone - Diana Gabaldon (began in December, completed January) The Relaxed Author - Joanna Penn Treasure Island - Robert Louis Stevenson Breath, The new Science Of A Lost Art - James Nestor Financial Freedom - Grant Sabatier Home Truths - Susan Lewis Educated - Tara Westover Educated also comes in under #7. It's going to take ages to do the 52 books in 2022 challenge if I keep repeating the same challenge. I have my listening speed set anywhere from 1.25x to 1.40x the normal speed. Yes, the books I read are audio. I listen when driving, doing housework, gardening and walking. My eyes aren't what they were and by the time I've written for two to three hours, they've done their dash on printed word. #amwriting #writersnetwork #christianauthors #christianauthor #christianwriter #nanowrimo #christianwomenwriter #authorsoninstagram #authorofinstagram #bookstagram #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #greynomads #womenontheroad #romancereaders #christianromance #grief #52booksin2022 #the52book.club (at Waimate) https://www.instagram.com/p/CY12KervOIs/?utm_medium=tumblr

Two Days on Drip - Tail Up Again Thank you for your warm messages for healing for Benji. Yesterday he took off at haste after rabbits, tail streaming in his wake, and finally, he was back to his usual self. The spring bulbs have begin flowering in Hagley Park. Spring is coming. Today was short story Monday. I use the prompts from Reedsy that come weekly. Why don't you give it a go and let me know how you've got on? #amwriting #writersnetwork #christianauthors #christianauthor #christianwriter #nanowrimo #christianwomenwriter #authorsoninstagram #authorofinstagram #bookstagram #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #greynomads #womenontheroad #romancereaders #christianromance #grief #sickdog (at Christchurch, New Zealand) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRxDvgsLZnr/?utm_medium=tumblr

On our way to Derby, it would seem one of the most prevalent trees is the Boab. The soft bark makes it ideal for carving as do the boat nuts. Today at the information centre we spotted some beautifully crafted nuts. This was supposed to be our overnight stay but unfortunately it's the centre of some roadworks. The book is progressing with the feedback from the Beta Readers adjustments being made. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #adventureprestige #boab #freedomcamping #roadtrain (at Forrest Highway)

This is the life. Freedom camping by a lake with plentiful bird life, a small croc or two (freshies) relaxing by the fire keeping the bity things at bay. Casserole is in the oven and happy hour drink at hand. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #freedomcamping #adventureprestige #lake #campfire #fire (at Mount Hardman)

Today's journey took us from Mary Pool to Fitzroy Crossing. An important waterhole for stock back in the day. A quick grocery top up and some lunch before finding out freedom camp for tonight and what a beauty. This little lake is teaming with birdlife. The campsite was created just over nine years ago when the station holders son was killed in an accident that could have been prevented if someone had pulled over for a rest. Other campers have their campfires burning. For those heading east it's their first opportunity to have one coming up the tinder dry west coast. We had a great tail wind reducing fuel consumption to 10 L/100kms. The poor travellers heading east were more than double that, punching into the wind. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #freedomcamping #adventureprestige #lake #birds #egret #lakeellendale #ellendalelake (at Mount Hardman)

The Bungle Bungle was "rediscovered" in 1982 when a doco was made about it. It became a National Park and then gained Heritage Status. There's a meteor crater around it. Our journey took 2 hours to get in (just over 50kms) the road is rough and 4WD only. We took the Bungle Bungle 4WD day tour fto@ the Bungle Bungle Campground on Mable Downs. Mable was the daughter of the first station holder. When they drove their cattle to the station the stockman all abandoned the family do at 10 years old Mable took over the reigns of the wagon and did her stint on guard duty at night. She eventually married Tom Cole (the other one). Our day finished around the campfire and a bushmans meal. A very full day. The highlight was certainly the Cathedral walk. Just amazing. The road in was rough with sharp stones being uncovered. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #adventureprestige #bunglebungle #hiking (at Bungle Bungles (Purnululu))

The big red Outback of Australia has developed a deeper hue of red as we've neared the Western Australia border. Overnight freecamp at Sullivan Creek meant we could walk the Escarpment Walk before the day got too hot and humid. But before we completed the walk Mr S had his shirt off and we were both drenched in sweat. We think even our hair was sweating. Another very beautiful spot with red rock cliffs all around, driving through. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #freedomcamping #walks #escarpment #adventureprestige (at Gregory)

Looking out across the savannah towards the East Alligator River where Tom Cole owned land to chase water buffalo and supply their hides and later on that of the crocodiles to market prior to the Second World War. Mindil Beach after enjoying street food from the Thursday night markets. One of the most beautiful sunsets we've experienced. People clapped as the sun slipped away. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #freedomcamping #adventureprestige #markets #sunset (at Darwin, Northern Territory)

Tolmer dual drop (through an arch) to the pool below. Also of interest is the rare ghost bat and orange leaf nose (horseshoe bats) live in the caves and under ledges. The pool is off limits for swimming. We noted a huge deck and new night lights have been installed and are hazarding a guess that tour operators will be operating an evening meal with bats. In March this year an announcement of new works to improve the park including new Campgrounds, 4WD tracks and 5 new swimming holes. With more tourism it won't be long before Litchfield is like Kakadu. No charge to visit the park (yet). We really enjoyed our visit. It's always a risk at the crossover with some places still not open, however they were mainly 4WD tracks. And of course with the wet the Waterfalls were running well. This is an incredibly special place and our road trip there is right up there is another highlight of our journey. Our tropical pause to recalibrate and adjust to the warmth and humidity. So excited, we're on our way to Litchfield Park. A decent chunk of writing going on for Camp Nanowrimo 2018 along with an online story telling course, just loving life. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #adventureprestige #paradise #campnanowrimo2018 (at Adelaide River, Northern Territory)

Today I learned that there were more bombs dropped on Darwin and surrounds than on Pearl Harbour. All those killed in those raids have been re-interred together at the WW2 Cemetery in Adelaide River, Northern Territory. The walk there I n the early morning was filled with butterflies of all shapes, sizes and colours and the little red Northern Territory kangaroos were scattered all over the grass feeding. They prefer to eat short grass. I also got my first sighting of the blue winged kookaburra. In my haste to photograph it, I didn't realise I'd stepped into an ant patch ( the biting kind ) by the time I'd chased them from my toes and looked up again he'd flown away. Geoff walked to meet me and we returned to the caravan resort, hot and sweaty, and enjoyed a cool soak in the pool with a book. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #adventureprestige #ww2cemetery #adelaideriverwarcemetery #campinglife (at Adelaide River, Northern Territory)

Boulder scrambling exercise this morning led to the triple drop Robin Waterfalls after staying the night beside the stream. The sound of water rippling nearby made us realise how much we've missed water while travelling up through the desert. Our original destination yesterday was Douglas Springs but the road is still closed from the wet season. The upside is finding camping sites like this without the crowds. The downside is missing a few places along the way. In between I'm still getting my word quota in for my next novel. #kiwigreynomads #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #campnanowrimo2018 #freedomcamping #adventureprestige (at Robin Falls)

Following the Overland Telegraph part of our austerity Road Trip around Australia, we visit the place where the line from Adelaide eventually meets the line from Darwin. My only issue is that the line was singular at the time and placed on top of the pole, not the multi bar carrying poles we got used to before they started burying the lines. Following what we can of the line, particularly through the desert never ceases to astound us what an incredibly amazing feat it was to connect Australia with the world. We could have free camped here but with the temperature and humidity at 37 it was too much for me and we continued to Daly Waters. #eidlewise #travelnzopenspaces #kiwigreynomads #adventureprestige #freedomcamping (at Birdum, Northern Territory, Australia)
