𝙃𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙨 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 as her fingers pull the edges of the prison uniform away from her body. Beige had never been her colour , made her look like a paper bag. She’d complained about her outfit all throughout the night , or until the guards came around to chide her about it. It had only been a day , and the gymnast was already restless , quick to stretch her arms above her head with a satisfactory groan once they were let out into the yard. ❝ They need some windows in there , don’t you think ? ❞ She chimes at a prisoner passing by , only to be shot an unwelcome glare. Getting the message loud and clear , she turns her attention back to finding her friend. The sight of the unmistakable buns has her cartwheeling towards Mai , landing on her feet with a frown.
❝ We need to get out. ❞ She’s counting off in her fingers , ❝ The food is terrible – it’s going to go straight to my thighs ! Everyone here really gives me some major negative energy , and look at me ! ❞ Another gesture at her uniform , forehead creasing with worry. ❝ Not flattering , nuh uh. ❞

@sagunita based on my filipino classes in hs and college, a lot of people do tend to consider it a language on its own because of the amount of people that speak it (7M+) same with bisaya/cebuano (20M+), but since most of the people that do speak it belong to a certain part of the country it’s considered more of a dialect. dialects technically /are/ languages though it’s just that they’re more people-specific than all around like english or filipino
AHH i get how the technicalities could be confusing. i think for the most part, people just try to avoid the political connotations that come with calling filipino languages (that's not tagalog/filipino) as dialects.
but while there are several accounts differentiating languages and dialects from a geographic/demographic standpoint, there are also accounts from linguists stating that dialects are subsets/variations of a single, recognizably different language that are interchangeable between each other and would still allow intercommunication (i.e. bisaya has kana, urban cebuano, boholano, leyteno, and davaoeno dialects and korean has gyeonggi, jeju, jeolla etc.)
a lot of this is arbitrary, though, just like the technicalities of language and grammar. so i just stick with calling ilokano a language (because someone who only knows tagalog wouldn’t be able to understand it) and north ilokano/south ilokano as its dialects (because speakers of these dialect would be able to understand each other).

𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 , the princess of the fire nation thinks to herself , as her golden eyes stare out the window . she’s done well enough for zuko to allow her an actual ROOM - but it’s still heavily guarded , restraints set in place . she’s sent a message to mai , asking her to come up - and she’s allowed to bring anyone who makes her feel more safe , and comfortable . this is the worst part about HEALING , azula thinks : owning up to her mistakes . she’ll turn around at the sound of someone coming in , not sure how to act . ‘ mai - thank you for coming . ’

AT THE MOMENT YOU WANT TO:
TO BE FREE.
you've been trying to leave for so long. something is keeping you there, like being chained, or locked in. in the moment, you feel trapped. your heart desires to feel freedom, and this could be physical or mental, or even both. physically. you may be truly trapped, confined in a situation that seems to have no end, or even trapped in your own emotions. you desire to let go, to feel free once again and at peace. there are ways to free yourself, all hope isn't lost.
