The result from our morning art workshop with @ps241stem_institute my kids in Harlem! Character art using exaggeration, lighting/shading process & messaging. My awesome scholar @jayvon.russell always brings great ideas and thoughtful observations. Today when I asked what the message should be, before I even opened my mouth to suggest BLM, he says BLACK LIVES MATTER! and naturally it's the best message for all to know & feel. Go follow Jayvon, he's going to have a lot to say as he grows into himself & we want to show him that HIS VOICE MATTERS. in addition, the character is interesting, because while it's sort of my style of character art, it turned out to be a very androgynous character, and that sparked a nice little conversation on gender & identity while evolving the character art together. These yout are the future leaders, & peace makers & I am personally and professionally elated, proud, excited & honored to be a part of their creative journey. Shout out to the homie @toofly_nyc as one of her Dunny's was one of my examples for this mornings lesson.
