Sharbat Gula - The haunting photo of a green-eyed, Afghan girl named Sharbat Gula, taken by Steve McCurry in a refugee camp in Pakistan, in December 1984. This was one of National Geographic magazine's most famous covers. Today she is 46 years old and despite her “fame” she still faces harsh reality of being a woman in a part of the world which deems human rights as a privilege for men. This extraordinary image is etched in the psyche of society ...
