What a great start to this week! Can't wait to see what more our Kiara fans have in store.

It will be Day 2 of KTAW tomorrow, and our themes for the day are Character Appreciation and Throwback! Anything goes for the first theme, as long as it deals with an aspect (or more than one!) of her characterization that you like. With the second one, you can bring back pieces you'd written in the past, and even walk us through the process of how you created them if you want!!

Any content is welcome!! Just make sure your work centers Kiara, and presents a positive depiction of her. Fic, art, meta, headcanons, edits, icons, interactive media, even simple character appreciation posts!! We also accept WIPs, so if your piece isn't entirely complete by the end of the week, fret not - you can still send us the WIPs!

The themes are simply inspirations. If you bring a piece for one of the days later, it's entirely okay...just make sure you tag the posts with the day you meant it for! We will always be keeping a bonus week in case you couldn't complete the piece during the week itself, so our official deadline for pieces will be June 1st!

We'd also like all of you to know that KTAW 2024 will be open ALL YEAR ROUND. So if you're unable to finish a piece before June 1st, pls do send it whenever you're ready to (and tag us!), and it will definitely be up on our masterlist!!

KTAW Day 2: Character Appreciation

Kiara is such an underrated character! She's clever and downright unstoppable. Learning 10 languages and excelling in diplomacy is no small feat. She is able to navigate the courts with remarkable ease and knows how settle disputes. Her hardworking attitude is pretty inspiring to me. What also is very admirable is how she joined the Unity Tour even after she suffered PTSD from the assassination attempt. We got to peek behind the curtain slightly to see her really struggling from that trauma and although she withdrew from the tour she still stuck around and fought against her fear. Plus she's super pretty lol ♥️

This can be read as an individual one shot, although in the end it mentions sprinkles of teenage Kiara that I wrote here.

“Congratulations Lady Kiara. You are now officially the Cordonian council member.” Liam stretched out his hand. Kiara gave a wide smile as she took his hand to give a confident shake.

"Merci. I will give my best."

“I will see you later.”

" Au Revoir." Kiara curtsied and walked out of the Council office.

As soon as Kiara closed the doors behind her, she leaped at Penelope who was waiting outside for her. Pen hugged her as they both gave out a happy squeal.

Drake was about to enter the council office when he witnessed the tiny celebration. “I assume you have been appointed.”

Kiara turned around to meet his brown eyes. “Yes. I am.” Her parallel thoughts ran wilder than her calm poise. ‘And after this I am going to take my next step towards you Drake. Towards our happy future.’ But this step needed more courage than she needed for her career. ‘One step at a time.’ She reminded herself.

“Well Congratulations! Time to party.” Drake added.

Penelope asked excitedly, “Would you like to join us?”

“I am afraid, no. I have an important meeting with O... I mean, the duchess of Lythikos and the King. Some other time.” He waved his hand. “See you later.”

Kiara kept staring at the closed door that Drake just went in to. Penelope tried to pep her up. “What a shame! He is gonna miss all the fun.” She pulled Kiara out of her reverie and dragged her out to the exit.

The Security at the gate stopped Kiara to give her a message from her father. He was waiting at the guest rooms in the Capitol to meet her.

Her happiness knew no bounds. “Pen, Baba is here! He came all the way from Castelsarreillan! I knew he would come. He has always been there for me.

Finally, her dream was coming true. Her hard work was fruitful and she had bagged the honourable post of the Minister of External Affairs at the Royal Court. ‘Baba would be so proud!’

She rushed to the parking with Penelope and directed her driver to the Capitol. The minutes felt longer than an hour to Kiara. She was eager to meet her father and share the news with him.

The SUV halted in the grand Porte cochere of the building that usually inhabited the visiting VIPs. The foyer was decorated in royal colours of gold and blue. The wall behind the reception displayed the flags of each duchy.

Kiara had no time to look at any of these beautiful details. She dashed through the floor towards the elevators while Penelope filled in the visitor details at the reception.

They stepped onto the third floor. She knew the standard suite reserved for the Duke of Castelserreillan. She rang the bell and waited, jumping on her toes enthusiastically.

Her father himself answered the door, which was a bit surprising for her but she was too excited to ask. She ran into his arms, “Baba! I made it.”

He gave her a warm hug and patted on her back. “I knew you would Kiki. I am so proud of you. Come, meet Maman and Zeke. They are here too.”

He looked at the door with a slight disappointment, as if he didn’t want to see Penelope at that moment. But like a wise old man he hid it behind a smiling face. “Please come in Penelope.”

Pen stepped forward and greeted him. They walked in. Joelle and Ezekiel were seated in the living room, both engrossed into some discussion. Joelle was talking in hushed tone while Ezekiel had his head lowered and moving in small nods.

Hakim stood behind Kiara and held her shoulders. She looked up at him sideways. He was smiling down at her. He then called out her mother, “Jo, Look who is here!”

Joelle got up, spreading her arms to welcome Kiara who scurried into her embrace. “Maman!”

“Toutes nos felicitations.”

Ezekiel was standing quietly besides them. “Hey Zeke!” said Kiara.

“Kiki.” He spoke softly.

It was too obvious to Kiara now that there was some tension in the room. She looked between her father and Zeke. Hakim had a stern look while Ezekiel had his eyes glued to the floor. “Qu’est-ce qui ne vas pas? What’s wrong? What am I missing here?”

Hakim sighed, “Penelope dear, I would like to talk to my daughter. I suggest you relax in Kiki’s room for some time.”

“Sure sir.” Penelope walked away politely.

Hakim motioned others to Ezekiel’s room. Kiara sat on the couch between her parents while Ezekiel stood in front of them. She kept looking at them dumbfound.

Her father took her hand in his before he spoke, “Kiki, I am really happy for you. You have worked hard and stayed focused to achieve your goals. And I am sorry to bring this up now but I don’t have a better way to explain this.”

He then turned to Ezekiel, “Son, come here.” Hakim stood up and curled his one arm across Ezekiel’s back.

He then addressed Kiara, “The way you made your decisions, Zeke has made his choices. We are your parents and we will support you in whatever you do, but one of his choices is directly going to affect you Kiki. And so here we are.”

Joelle kept a comforting hand around Kiara as Hakim continued, “Zeke has decided to forgo his title as the future Duke of Castelserreillan. You fall next in line and the responsibility of looking after the duchy will fall on you.”

Kiara’s mouth was agape.

“I know its too much to ask from you when you have just now joined the Council. I am always there for you, you know that, right?” When there was no response from her, he asked, “Kiki?”

Kiara realised she was sitting stunned. She shut her lips tight to swallow in before she gathered her voice, “Je vais bien. Oui, I am alright. C’est juste que... oui, it was unexpected. But we can definitely work it out, droit Baba?”

“Yes dear. We will work on it when the time comes. I will take care of the duchy till I can, so that you can concentrate on your work at the court.”

“That works for me.”

“So, you agree to take the responsibilities.”

“Oui Baba, C’est notre maison. I will do anything for it.”

Hakim finally exhaled a sigh of relief. “That was quick and smoother than I thought.” He was about to sit down when Ezekiel reminded him, “Baba, the other part.”

Kiara’s chocolate brown eyes widened, “There’s more? Quoi maintenant?”

He stretched out his hand to his wife. Joelle slipped her hand in his and got up to walk him to their bedroom. “We will leave you both for the rest. À demain.”

Hakim shook his head. “I think that is not something for me to tell. You both can talk about it. Let this old man call it a day.”

Kiara and Ezekiel looked at each other in understanding and greeted their parents. Ezekiel crashed down with a thud on the couch. He threw his head back and closed his eyes.

She knew her brother well. She sat down besides him. “Zeke, you know you don’t have to think twice. Just say it all and get done with it. Dites-moi”

He opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. “Kiki, it’s not as easy as it may sound.” He sat straight, his hands covering his face. “I gave them one shock after another.” He threw his hands in air, “And my timing was worst. I messed up your special moment. Je suis vraiment désolé.”

“Its okay Zeke. We have our moments but then life happens. Nothing is more important to me than your comfort.” She clapped his shoulder.

“Oh Kiki! You are always the mature one.” He reached out to give her a hug. She hugged him and patted his back.

She then brought up the other topic. “If you are comfortable, Zeke, should we now address the elephant in the room?”

Ezekiel rubbed his nape shying away, “Ce... actually, it’s rather personal... it’s about my partner or ... should I say the choice of my partner...”

She saw him struggling with words and decided to ease it off. “You mean you finally told Baba that you prefer men.”

His face turned pale. “Tu... how did you know? Since when?”

She smiled at him. “Se relaxer. I know it since I was nineteen.”

“But how on earth?... que...I never discussed... I was not even living at home that time. I was off to the veterinarian school.”

Kiara repeated. “I said relax! It was that Christmas holiday. You visited us. Penelope was more eager to see you than I. But you ignored her advances.”

Ezekiel hid his face in his palms. “Oh no! I am such an idiot! Pen... She was... I never realized. Désolé.”

“C’est bon. That was a sad new year eve for her. She felt very lonely but it was a long time ago.” Kiara turned to her brother to change the topic. “So, did you find someone?”

For the first time since she met him that evening, he smiled. He nodded his head and blushed at the thought of it.

“Who is the lucky guy?”

“You know him.” He grinned.

“Someone from Castelserreillan?” She wondered.

He shook his head. “Non. Someone right here.”

“Stop playing games. Just give me the name.” Kiara said in frustration.

“Bien.” He raised his hands surrendering. “It’s Max.”

Kiara’s heart skipped a beat. “Maxwell Beaumont?” She asked bewildered.

Ezekiel beamed, “Unbelievable, right? It was... for me too. But he is so sweet I couldn’t stop myself.”

Kiara blurted, “I am happy for you Zeke.”

Ezekiel hugged her again. “Thank you for being so supportive Kiki. It means the world to me. I am truly blessed.”

Kiara forced a smile. “Now if you will excuse me, Pen is waiting for me. À plus tard.”

She lumbered back to her room. How could the day turn out so heavy? She wanted it to be over already. She entered her room to meet a worried and anxious Penelope.

“Kiki? All well? What happened? Why was everyone so serious?”

Kiara threw herself on the bed. “Too many questions Pen! Give me a moment. I’ve had a rough day and all I want right now is a drink and someone to cuddle with.”

“I knew you will need it. Here, have this.” Penelope poured themselves a drink each. After gulping down the first one in a single shot, Kiara started filling in the details about the first half of her conversation with her father.

Somewhere after few drinks down, a groggy Penelope switched on the TV. “Let’s search for a gooooood movie.” She slurred.

The newsflash on the TV caught Kiara’s attention. She snatched the remote from Penelope to increase the volume. Reporter Donald Brine’s voice filled up their room.

“In a major turn of events today, the duchess of Lythikos, Lady Olivia Nevrakis, publicly accepted her relationship with Mr Drake Walker who belongs to...” Kiara switched off the TV.

“No. No more. Not today.” She grumbled.

Penelope was on the verge of passing out. Kiara was lying next to her. Penelope patted on her head trying to console her. “It’s okay, Kiki. We will find you a better match than that. I told you, the clover brew coffee is not good for health.”

Kiara looked through her drooping eyelids, “Pen, I have to confess one more thing.”

“Hmm?” Penelope hiccupped.

“Zeke told me that he is in relationship.”

“Woo-hoo!” Penelope let out a shriek, trying to stand on the mattress, wobbling on her feet.

“You don’t want to know with whom?” She is totally wasted, Kiara thought.

“It’s not me, I know. Who is it then?” Pen continued her attempt to stand still while pondering on the question.

“The hot chocolate.” Kiara uttered softly.

“Oh!” Penelope collapsed on the bed. She gazed at Kiara who looked worse. She cracked up laughing, “I don’t drink hot chocolates anymore.” Another hiccup and she fell on her pillow and passed out.

A tear rolled from the corner of her eye on to the satin cover of the pillow, leaving a circle of wet patch. She did not expect to see it by the time she woke up. It would evaporate.

“Maybe you are right Pen, its time for me to give up clover brew coffee.” Kiara lied down on her pillow and closed her eyes.

Headcanons: Kiara the Polyglot

Learning Languages

• Both Theron siblings grew up learning French, Darija and English pretty much from the cradle. Joëlle and Hakim spoke often in these languages at home, they sang lullabies, whispered soothing phrases, read out books to them.

• Greek and English were the national languages of Cordonia. Joëlle and Hakim made these tongues a more prominent part of the kids' childhood when they reached 3 and 4 years of age. In this way, all members of this Great House are fluent in four languages regardless of interest and ability.

• They used the OPOL (one person, one language) strategy with all four languages but especially with Greek and English. There were close friends who were regularly involved in the Theron household and work, and who agreed to speak only in those specific languages to increase Ezekiel and Kiara's comfort with them. While the parents themselves continued to speak French and Darija.

• Kiara's interest in learning more languages began, indirectly, through her father. Hakim was a huge fan of the Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum. Her most famous love song, Alfi Leila w-Leila, was one that Hakim claimed always reminded him of Joëlle.

• Often, while sitting with her Baba, Kiara would notice that the Arabic he was listening to sometimes sounded a bit different from the Darija she was used to. Logically at 7 years, she was old enough to know that different places spoke the same language differently...but it wasn't until she connected the dots post a lovely Umm-Kulthum listening session that she realised what that meant. She lost no time trying to learn different dialects of Arabic after that.

• Later on, she would try to do the same for French too. As an adult, when she meets Lady Esther DuPont of House Beaumont, who was born in Louisiana, she would be very interested in the French Esther had learned growing up.

• Other languages like Italian, Spanish, Turkish, German, Amhiric, Swahili, Mandarin, Dutch and Japanese Kiara learned through various sources. All kinds of music would be played in the house and Kiara found that music and watching regional dramas really helped to understand vocabulary and speech.

• Telenovelas, for example. The reactions were often so huge and larger-than-life that it was almost impossible for Kiara NOT to identify words that elicited those reactions the most! Which is why Kiara often says, "I love people being dramatic in languages I don't know! You'll come out knowing at least 10% of the language that way!"

• While the Therons kept an interpreter around on foreign trips like every other noble did, they always made sure the kids would be familiar with at least essential phrases and vocabulary. Hakim always told Kiara that the local people can always tell when someone is a tourist - so when that tourist makes the extra effort to interact with them in their mother tongue, that effort holds great value.

• This was true. Kiara was known all over Cordonia for being a real charmer abroad, and many stories were spread about how glad people in other countries were when this little girl tried to speak to them in their language.

• After her marriage to Hana and mastering Icelandic, Kiara takes the opportunity to learn Farsi.

Translation

• There's a home theater system in the Castel residence with a library of films from the world over. Even when she understands the language well, Kiara still prefers to have subtitles on. As she grows older she watches certain movies on repeated rewatches just so she can figure out how far the translation captures what is being said and identifies the gaps.

• Translations begin to fascinate Kiara around the age of 14.

• She kept editions of Le Petit Prince in at least 3 languages and could sometimes be found looking at them side by side

• What she loves most when she watches film subtitles is to figure out where a language-specific idiom or proverb is being used by a character, and the subtitles say something close to the meaning of the phrase because it doesn't entirely translate well directly.

• Her first translation project involved looking up whatever obscure texts there were in the main Castel library, and translating them. The project was a great success and a lot of those published translations made waves not only in Castel but all over Cordonia too. This got her recognition just the year before Liam's social season, and several people approached her during that time for projects.

• Kiara thrives on challenges, which she often finds in doing literary translations. Direct translations can result in losing out on the essence and nuances of a text, so on some projects Kiara has to find creative ways to preserve that essense and ensure she doesn't lose sight of the source author's voice.

• As the head of the Royal Diplomatic Liaison, she also engages in a bit of diplomatic translation and interpretation work.

• Not translation related but I had to put it out there: Hana doesn't know Parsi Gujarati too well (though she knows Farsi) even though her mother was from the Parsi community in Cordonia, and really wanted to for the uncle and aunt she had grown closer to - Francesco and Perizaad. So Kiara gifted her a copy of the book Parsi Bol which contains all sorts of Parsi Gujarati idioms.

We are finally reaching our last day of HLAW!! And we've got such incredible entries - this time also from new people who have sent us such fabulous work! We're grateful to all our contributors - both old and new - for the love and enthusiasm you've shown us so far and hope to see more in store today as well!!

Day 5 is all about the relationships!! Whether familial, platonic or romantic, Hana gives each one her all 🩷 She is also someone who is attempting to learn a new normal - how to continue loving others while also taking care of herself! This is a chance to explore Hana's connections with other people, whether in canon or your OCs, and explore her unique way of navigating them!!

Any content is welcome!! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, interactive, media, headcanons, screenshots, playlists, meta...even screenshots of your favourite scenes would be great!! Our only requirement is that the content is centered on Hana, and that the depiction of her is positive. You can also send in WIPs in case you don't complete a work!

We will also have an extra week for anyone who still needs time 💕 May 4th will be our final official date for entries (to incorporate into our video!) but HLAW will still be open for entries for the rest of the year until the next event!

As the new heir of Castelsareillan, I decided Kiki should have a courtesy title to use and went with “Countess of Heartwood” to reference Bellmere

I chose the little owl as the specific species for House Theron’s sigil due to them being associated with Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and war (and thus found it an even more fitting nickname for Hakim to use)

The capital of Castelsareillan where Kiara was born, Sorbier, is French for “rowan”

Kiara’s enneagram is type Three, also known as “The Achiever”: the success-oriented, pragmatic type described as adaptive, excelling, driven, and image-conscious. She is a Two-Wing, who are generally more extroverted and charming than other type Threes, and her level 2 is the level of psychological capacity.

I head canon Hakim as being Moroccan through his father’s side, while Joëlle is ethnically of Mandinka descent

Many Cordonian noblewomen attend a finishing school their final year of gymnasium (Greek-equivalent to junior high) in preparation for their official court introduction, with Aurynn Academy being the premier

Of the ten languages Kiara knows, I included Vóreios Norse (an invented regional language of Lythikos) and Sabir (a pidgin language formerly used in the Mediterranean Basin which I head canon is still spoken); though she is fluent in all ten, they are listed in order from most familiar to least

Kiara’s tragus piercing is an old Castel tradition as the inner ear helps keep balance which is needed for archers; it’s now essentially considered a good luck charm

All of my character pages for TRR cast are of their status post main series, and like many others, I am a member of Team Hanara and imagine the two as having fallen in love over the course of TRR3

I also head canon that Kiara and Savannah were closer than canon indicates to flesh out both of their backstories

The only cousin named here (Aminata) is the one mentioned in canon whose wedding was missed

*Due to my lateness, please enjoy this extra bit of Cordonian history involving House Thorne becoming House Theron:

To avoid the Black Death, in 1344 C.E. all the kingdoms on the island of Pontios including Cordonia chose to close their borders. With exports severely reduced, this left the kingdom in need of becoming more self-sustaining, primarily in regard to necessities such as food. As such, a royal decree was passed the following year that all groves managed by hand would be replaced with apple orchards.

This included a major portion of Bellmere’s Heart Oak forest, and so commenced the Foresters’ Revolt. Unfortunately, despite the support of their noble house, the revolt was suppressed and Applewood was formed. The members of House Thorne were stripped of their titles and banished from the kingdom, and they ended up relocating to the northern forest south of the Blackspines. It would not be until two centuries later—due to their support of House Rys in the civil war—that the members would regain their status as nobility, now under the name House Theron.

Welcome to Day 2 of our KTAW 2023! We will be exploring Kiara the Polyglot!

21st February is special especially for Kiara fans, because it is World Languages Day!! We all know about Kiara's love for languages, her fluency in at least ten of them, and her desire to learn more. It would be fun to explore Kiara and her love for languages for Day 2!!

Any and all content is welcome - as long as Kiara is the focus and the depictions of her are positive. Fics, art, edits, moodboards, meta, interactive media, headcanons, playlists...even simple appreciation posts of her favourite scene!! We also accept WIPs.

Do not worry if your piece is ready a bit later than the designated day. The themes make it easier for us to organise our masterlist - if you have something out on a later day, it's no problem as long as you tag it for the day it was meant for (#KTAW Day 1, #KTAW Day 2).

Day 2 - Family

HC: The Lee-Thorne Children

Because TRH tried to fuck Hana over by pretending she couldn't have kids, and I was very strongly for Hanara by then, I'd decided I was going to take my revenge by giving the couple FIVE children! Three of them Hana gave birth to, and two (who are twins) came from Kiara.

In my HC, Hana basically loves the process of pregnancy (not so much childbirth - but she does feel a lot more connected and involved with the process), and Kiara not as much, therefore Hana does get the urge to have kids more than once and Kiara had a great birthing experience but wasn't really going to actively look for another chance to birth kids. All of the kids came from anonymous donors so the ethnicities are listed along with their names.

Kiara and Hana both have different origins and different places they view as home...so their kids' names are meant to honour those places.

Here's a short list of the five kids Hanara have in my P&T-verse, and a few hcs I currently have about them (still developing!):

Chaima:

• She was named so because one of the meanings for this name in Arabic is "the one with a beauty spot", which she definitely has above her chin, towards the left. Her ethnicity is Chinese, Parsi and Jamaican.

• As the firstborn, Chaima was doted on, but Hana also worried she was falling into some of her mother's parenting patterns while caring for her. Kiara, having actually experienced a healthier family environment, provides Hana with a safe space to channel her more negative thoughts and emotions.

• Kiara also identified early on that Chaima struggled with focus, and realized visual stimuli worked best. When she pointed this out to Hana the two worked on ensuring Chaima knew how to channel her nervous, easily-distractible into something that could help her achieve goals she may be comfortable setting.

• Chaima is very quiet, and loves reading. While her mothers help curate her reading material, as time passes they try to help her figure out what she likes best. Chaima never has to hide a book from her mothers - if something she has is found with objectionable content, the two decide how to broach on the subject in alternative ways with her, rather than guilting her out of reading it. She is very active in Castel's LGBTQ scene and is involved in a lot of their organizations.

Fleur:

• Fleur is one of the two children (twins) Kiara carried. She was named (obviously) as an affectionate little nudge to Hana, who loves flowers. Her ethnicity is Moroccan, French, Polish and Chadian among others. The age gap between Chaima and the twins are 3 years.

• As a child Fleur loved the idea of treasure hunts. Perhaps she may have taken that idea to extremes 😅 You would often find her picking random stuff off the road claiming it was for her treasure chest. This was something Kiara encouraged, having been in that phase in her childhood too - until she was confronted with the sheer amount of stickers and bottlecaps and used bills that wound up in her nice fancy velvet lined chest! 😂😂

• She's very sensitive and emotional, and when dealing with an off-mood likes to stay away from everyone else and deal with her emotions and discomfort in peace. Usually around that time her twin Guillaume is the only one she feels comfortable around.

• Kiara did some amount of local modelling when she was younger but was never interested in pursuing the same as a career or even continuing casually after she reached adulthood. Fleur is very different in this regard - she loves modelling and fashion and walked many international ramps and uses her career to promote causes she is passionate about.

Guillaume:

• He is Fleur's twin, and was named after Guillaume Appollinaire, Kiara's favourite poet of all time. His ethnicity is Moroccan, French, Polish and Chadian among others.

• He is the most musically inclined of Hanara's children, and is particularly talented with the harp. Hana by this time started to secretly do film score music compositions and was very conscious esp of ensuring he didn't feel forced into anything, esp in public.

• Guillaume however loves performance as much as he loves the art and initially misunderstands his Mama Hana as not being very impressed with his talent, however Kiki does fill him in on where Hana's overcautiousness stems from (with Hana's permission) because she sees the gap it's creating between them. They become closer than ever after that and I hc Guillaume inspires Hana to eventually come public when all the kids are grown. (A portion of this hc was borrowed from one of @thecapturedafrique's hcs too, credit to her!! 💖💖💖)

• Because of his interest in music he also keeps closer ties to his cousins in Morocco than the rest of the kids, considering his great-grandfather was a musician from the Gnawa community in Fes. He also keeps in touch often with his great-aunt Xīngxià, who mentored Hana.

• Additional hc: both Fleur and Guillaume team up to produce a line of haircare products, specifically for people with 4c and 4d curly hair.

Táo huā:

• Hana has the urge to have another child after Chaima is 7 and the twins are 4. So there is an 8- and 5-year age gap between them and Táo huā. Her name means ""peach blossom", which is a good luck symbol esp for love and romance in Chinese culture, but one definite inspiration for Hana was the same Shanghai jazz song that inspired her name (Méi huā). The song compares the plum blossom to the peach one in the lyrics in a way that extols the former's resilience and steadfastness, but Hana's takeaway is that she doesn't want her children to have to be forced to learn resilience. She also did it as a dedication to her cousin Chūntáo (whose name means "spring peach"), who has long been seen as the family's "black sheep". Táo huā's ethnicity is Chinese, Parsi, Hawaiian, and Welsh.

• Most people think Táo huā resembles her Mama Hana the most (they don't really, but it's the popular opinion) so they're usually in for a surprise when they find her to be the most chaotic of the Lee-Thorne clan. She's cheerful and impulsive and loves pranks.

• Kiara loves all her children but feels a special kind of joy seeing Táo huā in her element because she is so unlike herself and Hana, her own parents, and most of the kids. While Táo huā occasionally does get into a little bit of trouble occasionally, Kiara is firm with her but internally feels a bit of joy that they've managed to keep an environment where a spirited individual like her can feel safe and loved. Normally this wouldn't be as big a deal to Kiara - family is family and you need to feel safest with them - but seeing the effects of Hana's parenting on her self-esteem does ensure that Kiara doesn't take that kind of freedom for granted.

• Hana's relationship with Táo huā is internally a bit more complicated. There's some of herself she sees in this child, but in her she also sometimes sees what she could have become if her parents weren't as controlling. Most times she's able to process her feelings about her kids and her parenting with Kiara, but a lot of these feelings are even harder to articulate in Táo huā's case. There is an incident where Táo huā impulsively colours her hair pink as a teen, and Hana struggles to process coz she once wanted to do that as a child. Thanks to Kiara's support and role in helping Hana process - both Chaima and Táo huā have mostly very positive memories of their mother during their childhood.

Jehangir aka Zachariah:

• The youngest and final child. Hana had him when Chaima was 9, the twins were 7 and Táo huā was 2. He's the only kid in the bunch whose names to honour both his mothers' Houses are publicly know. His official name, Jehangir ("Conqueror of the World" and also the name of a Mughal Emperor) is a nod to his grandmother Lorelai's family in Bethulia, who are of Parsi (Indian Zoroastrian) origin. His name at home, Zachariah, is part of a family tradition among the Thornes where they name at least one son after a Hebrew/Biblical/Islamic prophet. His uncle Ezekiel was also part of a similar tradition. Jehangir/Zachariah's ethnicity is Chinese, Parsi and Singaporean.

• The gourmand of the family. While the entire clan is known for their impeccable and eclectic knowledge of world cuisines, Jehangir is the only one who focuses on it specifically. He is especially inspired by a close friend of his mothers', King Liam, who trusted Mama Kiki with hosting Cordonia's first International Gastrodiplomacy Summit and whose own mother did a thesis on Gastrodiplomacy.

• Jehangir eventually hosts his own food and travel shows as an adult. His show, Culinary Trails Across Cordonia, put the country on the world map for its excellent and interesting showcase of the culinary diversity in Cordonia. It explored places that most documentaries and shows didn't explore, seeing as many of them focused more on Lythikos, Fydelia, Portavira and the Capitol.

• Kiara's friendship with Liam had a lot to do with their mothers' own bond, and just before he got married she managed to find a copy of one of the first drafts of his mother's thesis in the attic. She gave it to him as a wedding gift. When Jehangir was starting out with this interest as an adult, Liam gave it to him as a gift, and as an affectionate reminder to Kiki of how their friendship began.

Day 2 of KTAW explores Kiara in terms of Family - whether it is the family she grew up in, the family she may one day raise, or the family she finds among people she is comfortable with. You can even think of her in terms of being part of a community! There are so many ways to explore this theme.

As always, any and all content is welcome! Fanfic, art, edits, moodboards, headcanons, interactive art - anything! As of this week, we also accept WIP excerpts in case you're struggling to finish a piece.

Welcome to our third Kiara Theron Appreciation Week! That time of the year when we get together and celebrate this wonderful character (though to be honest, every day is a great day to celebrate Kiara).

This year, we will be holding this event around May 21st, which is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development! Basically, a day specially meant to celebrate all cultures and diversities. And which estate is best known for its rich culture, art and literature? Castelserraillan, of course!

Here are our themes for this year:

Day 1 - May 21st - Culture/Festivals

Day 2 - May 22nd - Character Appreciation/Throwback

Day 3 - May 23rd - Languages/Wine

Day 4 - May 24th - Diplomacy/Nature

Day 5 - May 25th - Family/Friendships/Romance

Any content is welcome - art, fanfic, edits, essays, moodboards, interactive media, headcanons...even short appreciation posts and screencaps! Our only requirement is that the content should be Kiara-focused and depict her positively.

Each day has a theme, and some will have two. For those days, you can choose whichever theme you prefer or you can even combine them! It isn't completely necessary to post the content exactly on the day it's meant for...just make sure you tag it with the day and theme even if you're submitting it on a later day.

We also will be accepting pieces after the event is over, and all year round until the next KTAW! So even if you have your post ready much later, please don't hesitate to tag us! 🤗

Welcome to our third edition of the Kiara Theron Appreciation Week!!

We have received some amazing pieces during our last two editions - works that explored Kiara in all her complexity and appreciated her gifts. We can't wait to see what our Kiara fans have in store for us this year!

Tomorrow will be Day 1 of KTAW, and we have two themes you can choose from (or even combine - anything goes!)

Our first theme is Culture. As many of you who remember our first venture into Castelserraillan will remember, the duchy is known for its cultural heritage and diversity, for loving and revering culture and art. Kiara embodies this in her knowledge about different places, in her love for languages, in her work as a diplomat. This theme would be fitting for her.

Our second theme is related to the first, in some ways. Festivals are some of the most open and colourful ways to celebrate cultural heritage, and it would be great to see Kiara getting involved and celebrating different festivals!

Any content is welcome!! Just make sure your work centers Kiara, and presents a positive depiction of her. Fic, art, meta, headcanons, edits, icons, interactive media, even simple character appreciation posts!! We also accept WIPs, so if your piece isn't entirely complete by the end of the week, fret not - you can still send us the WIPs!

The themes are simply inspirations. If you bring a piece for one of the days later, it's entirely okay...just make sure you tag the posts with the day you meant it for! We will always be keeping a bonus week in case you couldn't complete the piece during the week itself, so our official deadline for pieces will be June 1st!

We'd also like all of you to know that KTAW 2024 will be open ALL YEAR ROUND. So if you're unable to finish a piece before June 1st, pls do send it whenever you're ready to (and tag us!), and it will definitely be up on our masterlist!!
