Oh, if it wasn't his favourite cousin, Kurotsuchi? They hadn't seen each other since when? Deidara's little blow-up at Iwagakure when he fled as a kid? Kurotsuchi had been so upset by that. Because family! Blood is thicker than water! Blah blah blah. Bullshit. "Tch, still suckling from that old man's teet, Kurotsuchi? Reckon so since I've heard you're the Fourth Tsuchikage now. You were always his favourite," That last statement was peppered with a twinge of bitterness.

Naruto X Kurotsuchi. That is an interesting one knowing how her grandfather feels about his father. How does that romance play out?

Kuro's one of those lesser used characters... XD She and Naruto have similar temperaments, but she's more rough and tough.

... Until she nearly causes a diplomatic incident. Then she becomes hysterical. (人◕ω◕)

It'd be a bit hard for two Kage's to be romantically involved, so my most common experience with this ship is harem fics where other villages enter their kunoochi into arranged marriages with Naruto because of the Leaf winning the Third Shinobi World War. Not particularly imaginative, but Leaf-Stone interactions are tricky to write without delving into massive AU territory. I've seen a fanfic or two with Naruto taken in by the Tsuchikage, too, so it's not impossible for Naruto and Kuro interact frequently.

As long as Naruto doesn't learn Hiraishin, everything should be fine~ ... Or Itachi's Shadow Clone Explosion Jutsu. I've read some good crackfics in my day. Naruto brings the Tsuchikage closer to death, usually. Not 'cause of deliberate attacks. ... Naruto just makes life fun for everybody. (人◕ω◕)

Well, she surely wasn't so clingy, always chasing after him and going along with whatever schemes he got up to back in the village. Those days were gone. That was a hard reminder, but she was an Iwa Shinobi, so having hard lessons drilled into her wasn't anything she couldn't handle.

Now, she's snickering, hands placing behind her head as she leans to one side. She's far too comfortable. Far too arrogant. Could she take him on? Hmm, who knows just how strong he's gotten -- probably just as dangerous too. She wonders who would win if they ever were to fight. Probably her. Yeah, that sounded about right, she was the Tsuchikage's granddaughter after all, she wasn't about to go down so easily, not even for Deidara.

It was too deep for her, it meant she'd have to think about her feelings too much, and that wasn't a road she was willing to go down right now; seeing him again already brought back too many memories, and emotions to go with it. If she was her old self, she might have started to cry like a baby about it, but man, nah, she had changed after all.

How truth can be hidden deep within her dismissive, playful words. It's her strength, a facade she easily flows into and hides behind, for within moments hands drop and shoulders rise, a dramatic sigh escaping her lips; purposely dramatic.

            The forest was harrowingly quiet for only a moment--Mayu was tense. It had been years, she had no inkling that things had changed so drastically since she was gone. A new Tsuchikage, too? Either way, it wasn’t enough to invoke change in her. Her life had already been changed, this was her reality; hidden deep in the woods.

           Being a shinobi wasn’t meant for Mayu despite her fighting spirit. Maybe it was her way of life once upon a time, but that quickly changed. She doesn’t want to talk about it, she doesn’t want to think about it, halting the train of thought before it slips into the darkest corners of her mind. Though she was looking the future of Iwagakure in the eyes, it was in the past for her. Mayu would hope it stays there. It was for the best.

POETRY SENTENCE STARTERS.

      Karin hated this war. Forget all the death and suffering, it was her exposure that hammered in her head. Hiding who she was and what she could do was an old, difficult habit to keep. Bright red hair reminded many of the Uzumaki Clan and just a glance at her skin made their curious — or shocked, or interested — about the bite marks. Long sleeves and over the knee socks were practically a uniform, guaranteed to keel thirsty eyes away. But what could she do? Tsunade needed help and Orochimaru ordered to heal her. The attack on Sasuke forced her to use the chakra chains. If anyone still doubted her bloodline... Now there’s no denying. 

    A movement of the hand was quick to pull the sleeve down, hiding the exposed piece of skin. Indignation fluttered through the shinobi from Iwagakure, angry words escaping their lips. ❝ No shit. ❞ The answer came bitterly, an attempt to force a wry smile failed. Mistreated? That was the least that could be said about the hell that was Kusa and Oto later. ❝ Not everybody is the Tsuchikage’s grandchild. Some people have to fight to survive. ❞ Being a shinobi was a daily struggle for life but at least they had physical and mental training. Karin did not have it. They threw her in a hospital, treating her as an effective healing method — not a human being. A terrible thing to see in someone so young.

Hinata’s face reddens at the unexpected contact, but she doesn’t shy away or express discomfort at Kurotsuchi’s sudden affection.  In fact, Hinata finds comfort in the simple act of having an arm slung over her shoulder.  This was her first visit to Iwa and it was clear to her that everyone knew she was an outsider.  While the gazes of villagers and shinobi alike were not necessarily aggressive, they did stare at the Konoha shinobi. She wonders what made her stick out the most.  If she had to guess, it was probably her Byakugan.  She keeps her gaze low, feeling self-conscious.

“Th-Thank you,” Hinata murmurs to Kurotsuchi, though she doesn’t say what she’s thankful for. She assumes that they know she means the embrace. “I was— umm, if I’m honest— I was beginning to feel a little self-conscious.  I think it’s obvious that I’m not from here, isn’t it?”  Tentatively, Hinata lifts her gaze to look into their face.  “My eyes?”

In the aftermath of the greatest shinobi war their generation could remember, it was not uncommon to find the gokage of that era in each other’s villages in order to reach quiet, diplomatic solutions to the issues at hand. When the Tsuchikage was in town, it usually indicated one of two things-- A cause for celebration was about to be announced, Or one of Iwagakure’s ANBU members had been found snooping around. The latter was always followed by a firm and swift denial from the yondaime. Today, she was visiting to once more protest these ‘unfounded claims’, and collect her rogue agent.

“ I guess they don’t make ‘em like they used to, ”        she quipped to the young man escorting her. An ANBU from Konohagakure, she presumed. He had the bearing of one. “ When they go off the chain, they’re always gettin’ caught. ”
