“Love?” Renjun's head appeared from behind the door of your bedroom. 

After a hectic week at work, Renjun had decided to spend the weekend with you because one, what was better than relaxing with your favourite person in the whole wide world? And two, he was practically dying to see your beautiful face because it had been way too long since he last met you.

Even though he had been excited and was looking forward to spending some time with you, he was crushed once your figure came into his sight. 

Several books and what seemed like notes were sprawled across the small study table. The rest of the table was decorated with bright, eye-catching highlighters and a variety of multi coloured pens and pencils. Your laptop sat in front of you, the professor inside the screen going on about some topic you had lost focus on long ago. Although the earphones connected to the laptop were plugged in your ears, you had knocked out a long time ago. 

Your head rested on your crossed arms, eyes shut with soft snores leaving your slightly-parted lips. Your hair was a mess, in fact, your whole state was a disaster. With the finals catching up, you had been pushing yourself way too hard. You spent hours upon hours studying without breaks, and eventually, came to the point where you just couldn’t take anymore in. After a mental breakdown, you finally dozed off listening to the boring, monotone lecture.

Renjun clicked his tongue in defeat, shaking his head as he knelt down next to your sleeping self. He knew you had been working too hard, after all he was your boyfriend.

“Babe?” He whispered softly, removing the earphones and tucking those stray strands of hair behind your ears. 

“R-renjun?” you opened your eyes lazily, wondering if you were hallucinating or dreaming. 

You were greeted by his soft, sympathetic smile with his hand now running through your hair. 

“What time is it?” You asked him, a sinking feeling taking over you once you realise that you had slept in the middle of your studying session. 

“Well, it’s late.” His reply came after a pause, not even bothering to check the time from any of the various sources which could tell the exact hour.

“Great.” You groan, closing your eyes again. The said word was greatly sarcastic because you had wasted precious time which could have been utilised for at least completing one more chapter. 

“Hey, hey,” Renjun’s sweet voice made you look back at him, “You’ve done enough for today. In fact, you’ve done more than enough. Let’s get you to bed okay?”

“But-” You open your mouth to protest, only to be shushed by your beloved boyfriend. 

“I don’t want to hear a word, love. We’re going to bed and that's final.” He took your hand in his as he helped you up. Sure, his parent-side was annoying at times, but that was one of the reasons why you loved him so much. He was just looking out for you and that was more than anything you could ask for. 

Helping you back up on your feet, you couldn’t help but think what you did to deserve such an angel besides you. He always made sure to take out time for you, even if he was keeping up with his busiest schedules. 

Maybe because your thoughts were still blurry because of your drowsy state, you suddenly wrapped your arms around his waist, burying your face in his chest. Your sudden affection caught Renjun off-guard, but since he had missed you dearly as well, he returned your hug. 

Holding you in his arms for a while, he planted a soft kiss on the top of your head. 

“Love,” he said quietly, as if he wanted his voice to be heard only by you even if you were in an empty room, “I know you’ve been going hard on yourself. And I just want to tell you that you’re doing great.”

He pulled apart just for a second only to look at your tired, sleep-deprived eyes. He gently cupped your face, his loving gaze making you melt into a puddle right there. You gave him a sheepish smile, something he loved to see. 

“I love you, okay?” 

It wasn’t very often Renjun would tell you that. He believed that the more someone used them, the more they became worthless. So he was very considerate with those three words, only using them on special occasions. But right now, he thought he should remind you how special you were to him, how you were his universe, how you made his world spin. 

“Don’t ever forget that.”
