in the japanese, the aria sisters are called the 'white porcelain sisters'. and upon closer look at their faces on the high res art from the promotional tapestry, you see the little cracks which I thought were scars before. arias, the butler, is also named after a statue.

the sisters are honestly probably animated objects like the furniture but more elaborate, which would ABSOLUTELY explain why laby is stuck where she is: she got cursed to stay there because she was, in all likelihood, capable of creating stupidly high level fiends as servants as she pleased; this goes back to 'archfiend' being a very specific type of high level entity in YGO, including the OG summoned skull. the silver castle is thus its very own special hell dimension of fiends no one can get into without dying instantly...except knight.

which recontextualizes lab's love for knight entirely! because all lab has are her own creations, which are certainly sentient beings with their own will, but they're naturally subservient to her! part of her! knight is the only person that can actually interact with her on a regular basis!! screw lovely or lady labrynth, she's probably the lonely labrynth more than anything.

Master Duel's update for March was last week, so here's the current status of the cards we're currently missing. It's still surprising how deeply we've cut into AGOV considering we've barely made a dent into DUNE's selection.

Most of the new pack's cut into the post-DUNE cards from side sets like Animation Chronicle 2023 for the Earthbound Servant cards and the Red Dragon Archfiend structure deck. The inclusion of Tistina in this month's update also means we have almost every TCG Premiere card from DUNE before we've gotten most of the rest of the set, which I find amusing. The Earthbound Servant portion of the new Selection Pack also includes Earthbound Fusion from Phantom Nightmare, and it's always cool to see them pulling cards from that far out.

As a Labrynth main I'm very pleased that Transaction Rollback made it in this month, though having to wait longer for Arias is disappointing. Maybe next month.

I know I talk about lab a lot but. yugioh is SO GOOD at translating completely different things into its gameplay. labrynth would be so easy to make into a dungeon crawler.

the furniture alerts the rest of the mansion and sets up a big event if you don't stop them. cooclock jumpscares tyou and makes it seem like the next thing to hit you came out of nowhere. archfiend is the combat boss so they bring in the combat tricks, and scales to your level. the servants need to be handled quickly or they set up everything else in the mansion for you. not combat threats but more like level themes, but if you leave them alive they'll also make your life miserable. devil's choice.

-ariana? she's the polite entry level servant. thematic. introduces you to the place so she searches for other lab things. does her job. -ariane? more charismatic. probably recruited other fiends to hang out in the labyrinth, that's why she can recruit any generic fiend. but she seems a little headstrong so she gives up something else to do so. -arias? she's the midboss, you have to handle her NOW or you get that shit dropped on you IMMEDIATELY, and she's CREATIVE, it doesn't have to be a lab trap. -I hope the next aria (arial? ariad?) is big and in your face. she looks like a kusogaki.

standard lovely. you WILL experience her traps (cannot respond to traps with monster effects, she brings them back from grave), and they ARE fatal (no matter what the trap effect, someone fucking dies.) lady lab? battle mode? she's improvising. bringing in the new stuff. she fucking sprinted out of her inner chambers to fight you. this is her regalia, her sunday best, as long as she's in her element you gotta face her HEAD ON (can't be targeted or destroyed by card effects)

EVEN THE BACKLINE. welcome and big welcome? FOE encounter events. welcome just brings in what you're fighting, real simple, and if you fuck up again you're gonna have another encounter event, so it comes back. big welcome is laby coming in a bumping someone else out of the way for the fight cause she's just like that. farewelcome? you let it go off, you go home. BYE. you reset the traps too, idiot. set up is set up. barrage is when you're stupid unlucky and get an RNG double dip. and the field spell is just icing on top. it tells you exactly what this stratum will do to your face. the lady's inventions will kill you. and the generic stuff will call the rest of the fucking roster to finish you off.

FASCINATED with the implication that labrynth and knight have been at each other’s throats for so long that they’ve long surpassed reasonable limits. tiny cosmos of infinite level grinding. laby randomly has a full Archfiend as a servant. despite all the rampant bullshit going on in the castle, knight-chan solos it for breakfast every time. what’s going on here. how did this snake vs newt situation start. is the rest of the multiverse aware there’s a level 998 fiend engaging in lesbianisms with a level 999 knight. what’s the truth.

So apparently Labrynth archfiend is like, a woman? It'd make sense, I guess, because Labrynth is a useless lesbian, but Archfiend is literally a silent suit of animated armor!

One funny thing about Labrynth is that, not only does she have an archfiend working for her, he is bound to her hell castle so deeply that he gets stronger the more traps have been activated. He literally gets stronger just to make sure the lady knight is always fighting something crazy before she gets to Lovely herself. I’m imagining that one day we’ll get secret surprise lore that makes her like, a retired world conqueror or something.

THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING, THERE'S SOME INSULAR POWER LEVEL SHIT GOING ON HERE. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE THE SCISSORS AND BUTLER MIDBOSSES YET. IF THEY EVER MAKE KNIGHT-CHAN A LA ILLEGAL KNIGHT SHE'LL BE SICK.

Another round of reveals for Premium Pack 2024 tonight! Seven new ones:

Three new "Toy" cards - essentially lower-level Artifacts with a Continuous Spell that can Set them from the Deck. Toy Tank in particular is pretty fun because it can just Special Summon any Level 6 or lower from hand with no extra conditions.

Ebon Sun - a Continuous Spell with some niche effects.

Red Lotus King, Flame Crime - Resonator/Red Dragon Archfiend support that can mill a Normal Trap when it's used as Synchro Material. Labrynth/Resonator builds will probably get a hoot out of this one.

Two support cards for the White archetype of Fish - I don't pay much attention to Fish but good for them.

I bet Labrynth’s pet archfiend is named Archie. Her section is going to be a comedy where she complains about all the evil fiends and darklords and stuff giving her a bad name. I want adorable gay demons.
