the urge to make this a no romance story vs the urge to make the narrative foils fall in love
#bloodfinch#i'm sure one approach will feel more intuitive as i write#so i'm not going to try to force myself into a decision#but they both definitely have their strong points#on a related note the crown prince (benceline's eldest child) may be a more important character#than i originally thought he would be#he and one of his sisters might become pivotal#not really sure yet i need to think more about it#the 4 royal children (almost all full adults) are:#adalrich (the duty-oriented joyless strangely fitzwilliam-darcy-esque crown prince)#hadelinde (second eldest. born to be a historian forced to be a princess 😔)#lansel (the spare prince. always in shenanigans. life of the party. occasionally trips and falls into a moment of suaveness)#gisanna (14 and really into dramatically gazing out of windows at the moon and reading poetry)#adalrich and hadelinde are the ones who might be important#it's important to me that all of the royal children suck at least a little bit#but finch and adalrich ARE foils........#but also it would be so much easier to write this with no romance.........
