During a recent hike while surveying the fire damage to a nearby trail, I nervously approached my favorite oak tree, unsure of whether or not it survived. The Phantom trail, as it is known, was once a lush, moss covered forest 🌳 trail, but after the fire 🔥 is now a devastated and charred piece of earth, unrecognizable from its former self. I was relieved to see my favorite tree still standing, though it was completely black, having sustained quite a bit of damage battling the fire. To honor its fight for survival, I stopped to sketch it, as I have done several times in the past.
