#learning another language is difficult and shouldn't be something we just expect of people just bc it's such a widespread language

here's a friendly reminder that if english is your second language it's not "to be expected" or "the bare minimum"; it's actually so impressive and so much work to learn another language, let yourself be proud of it

One of the Reader's notebooks are left open on the table. It seems they had stopped writing in it mid way.
"Dear Headwyn,
I hope you are well. How are things back home? It's difficult for me to recieve any letters where I am right now with it being so far away from the Sahrian Union, but I'm writing this on XX day XX month so I don't forget the many things Ti'zo and I have encountered since we set off on our journey and will have it sent next time it is possible. Right now we are staying with a new friend I've made. His name is Kaveh and he's an architect. I think you and him would get along great. He's very friendly and has a passion for learning things. I'm hoping I can talk him into visiting. If I can we should all get together for some of your cooking. Ti'zo and I miss everyone lots. Please send my regards to those who remained, I don't want"

Ugh. He told Alhaitham to clean up after himself! Kaveh hated cleaning up after him. But he always did, maybe that's why Alhaitham was so spoiled. Kaveh reaches out towards the book. But his eyes catches a word he recognizes. It was one of the Reader's friends. The scholar has taught him his country's language and although Kaveh felt self conscious on his skills, he grasped the language fairly well. As expected of The Light of Kshahrewar.
He carefully lifts the book and starts reading it. It seemed like the Reader was writing a letter for his friends back home. Kaveh had heard tales about them. All fine folks who banded together to overthrow an injustice government. From those who were scholarly like the Reader, to those who didn't have a chance to learn.
...It felt familiar.
Back to the letter, red eyes follow along the letters. With each word read, his eyes widened in surprise. The Reader felt Kaveh was close enough to write about to his friends back home? And he wanted to invite him over? They certainly has talks about it. And sometimes he had thought they were simply humoring him and altruistic ways.
But it seemed like Reader was serious about it. Enough to bring a close friend in on his plan.
"Oh Reader..." Kaveh didn't know what to say. He rubs his eyes. He's definitely not crying.
"Oi, you shouldn't be snooping in other people's things."
Kaveh jolts in place, shutting the book. "H-Hey! Don't scare me like that!"
It was his roommate, Alhaitham. The bratty scribe has returned home it seemed. Currently he was chewing on a peach as he stared at the architect. "Do you want to get in trouble again?"
"I— you! I was cleaning up! I thought you left you books lying around again."
"So if it was my book you would read it?" Alhaitham said with a smirk tugging at his lips.
"I— No! I happened to recognize something and I thought I'd help them."
"So you did read their book."
"Oh my God, I told you I didn't do it on purpose!" Their bickering starts again, just as it always happens. The sentiment the Reader had wasn't forgotten. Even as he went back and forth with his bratty junior.
In another time he'd speak to him seriously about a visit. For now he had to put the book away, and keep a certain scribe off his back.
