     "      𝗶  𝗮𝗺  𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱!      "     who  were  they  trying  to  convince?     sensei  kim  or  themself?     either  way,  they  hate  how  bratty  and  whiny  their  voice  sounded.      the  way  everyone  looked  at  them  as  they  snapped  back  at  sensei  kim.    mercy  rolls  their  neck,  closing  their  eyes  for  a  moment  and  takes  a  moment  to  breathe.     what  had  happened  to  them?     why  had  they  seemed  to  have  lost  that  attention  and  focus  that  they  had  before  coming  to  the  valley?     they  knew  they  couldn’t  have  done  anything  they  had  in  their  past  without  that  focus,  without  that  dedication  and  desire  to  win,  their  discipline  had  been  unmatched  by  anyone  at  any  dojo  they  had  been  a  part  of.     yet  something  about  training  with  sensei  kim,  amongst  all  the  distractions  of  the  valley,  made  them  feel  like  that  seven  year  old  who  was  so  desperate  to  prove  to  their  father  and  terry  silver  that  they  could  do  this.     desperate  for  approval  and  praise  that  rarely  came.     hands  come  to  rub  their  face  for  a  moment,  eyes  opening  to  look  at  her  again  and  in  some  way  they  know  exactly  what  was  likely  to  be  said.     their  lack  of  focus  was  because  of  their  distractions.     their  biggest  distraction  being  yasmine,  who  despite  being  so  close  to  joining  the  dojo  would  absolutely  never  do  it  now,  which  was  exactly  why  mercy  had  tried  to  create  some  distance  because  either  way,  it  hurt  and  their  emotions  were  getting  the  better  of  them.     not  that  sensei  kim  would  care  about  any  of  their  excuses.     their  lack  of  focus  wasn’t  going  to  win  them  anything  and  they  would  continue  to  be  thrown  around  by  her  and  the  rest  of  the  senseis  she  brought  with  her  until  they  proved  exactly  why  they  were  a  champion  and  why  silver  had  dedicated  so  much  time  in  them.     but  sensei  kim  is  even  harder  to  impress  than  terry  silver  ever  was,  they  felt  like  they  were  working  hard  but  it  was  still  not  enough,  which  just  made  them  more  and  more  desperate  for  her  approval,      “     i’m  sorry,  sensei.     i  shouldn’t  have  snapped  at  you,      ”     mercy  admits,  looking  down  for  a  moment  and  they  took  another  deep  breath,  unsure  of  what  exactly  may  happen  next,      “     my  focus  has  not  been  where  it  should  be  and  it  shows.     but  all  my  distractions  are  gone,  i  just  need  time  to  regain  my  focus,      ”
