chapter one : man, screw america

pairing : hueningkai x non idol! reader  summary : kai was never the type to go out of his way to befriend his little sisters friends, yet somehow he was convinced. and instead of simply befriending her, he fell for her. word count : 0.5k

when you were young, younger than you could remember, you made a friend : shin yuna. she was the perfect daughter, the perrfect friend, the perfect student - the perfect everything. people expected you wouldn’t last, someone so perfect as yuna was bound to get bored by someone so plain as you, right? yet, years later the two of you were still best friends. the only difference was now yuna was famous, and you were a measly college student. 

it broke yuna when she found out you were leaving "america? of all places?" she groaned, begging you to stay. you had tried to explain numerous times to the girl that you weren’t going to be eighteen forever, and you had a great opportunity in america to study in the field you wanted to. she was an idol, you weren’t. and you couldn’t always rely on your rich best friend.

"it’ll only be this school year, then i’ll come home for the summer!" you reasoned, taking her hands in yours. but she wouldn’t hear any of it.

eventually, she came around - something about lia and yeji convincing her it wasn’t the actual end of the world. 

"when you get back, i'll throw a big party, and you can meet every idol i manage to befriend!" she declared, smiling widely.

"yuna... i'll be gone for nine months. that's not that long-" you sighed, rolling your eyes at her antics.

shin yuna. she was like fall - always changing up. one moment, she could be sulking in the corner, unwilling to talk to anyone, and the next she could be lively and making it everyones problem. it's what you loved about her so much. no matter who she was with, she never bothered to hold back that side of her personality.

and then there was you. according to just about everyone, you were like winter. a strange contrast to how bright and warm yuna could be, but also so fitting to when she was cold. you were unwavering, never changing how you acted no matter what. people knew what to expect when it came to you, yet they somehow were always surprised. that's what yuna loved about you, so regular, yet irregular at the same time.

she also loved how you had designated seasons that matched your personalities - all you needed were two more to fit the theme. and while you were gone, she planned on finding those exact people.

"it'll feel like forever!" she whined, clearly upset again.

weather change.

"but in reality, it's a short time period."

"can we at least facetime? whenever i want?"

you sighed again. it was like dealing with a kicked puppy. how could you look her straight in the eyes and say no?

you couldn't.

"well.. there's a time difference-" you started, a soft look spreading across your face as you readied yourself for her reaction.

"screw you. picking a school so far away." yuna huffed, pouting.

"yu-" lia attempted to step in, eyes wide at the maknae. yeji was standing silently in the corner, attempting not to laugh. ryujin simply stared in horror.

where the hell was chaeryeong?

"man, screw america too!"

writing guidelines !

basic rules —

𝖎. i will not be writing any nsfw fics, the closest thing would probably be innuendos to milder topics, but even then those may not occur that often. everything i write will be sfw.

𝖎𝖎. i aim to write for gn!reader, but that may not be the case for all fics; i also aim to make the stories suitable for all readers ( but if i don’t i will either title my fics accordingly, or try to make them suit as best as i can ) — feedback with always be appreciated to make them more inclusive :)

𝖎𝖎𝖎. i would love to accept any requests that follow the first rule as purely sfw fics ! obviously please do not spam any requests as they will simply be ignored, and though i may not be able to fulfil all requests i still love hearing other ideas for writing !
