One of my favorite decks in Yu-Gi-Oh is Libromancer. It's a super cool set of cards that's based around Manga archetypes.
So we've got this Shonen protagonist guy.
Tumblr media
We've got his "guy in the chair."
Tumblr media
Their friend, the magical girl.
Tumblr media
And this guy who's there? He's a detective but like, has little connection in the lore.
Tumblr media
And the whole thing is implied to be the Geek Boy fantasizing about his friends. Hence the name "Libromancer" (he's writing books about them). And the actual way they play is super cool!
Tumblr media
It's all about looping summons of Geek Boy and Fireburst's civilian form (Pictured above) to continuously generate card advantage, with occasional appearances by the civilian versions of Doombroker and Mystigirl. So it's essentially two friends constantly transforming from their civilian forms into their battle forms. It's all really cute and plays out like an episode of your favorite anime.
And it's hot ass.
The deck is unplayable garbage and bricks constantly. Playing it pure and opening an exact 5 card hand, you can end on up to three interruptions, unless your opponent doesn't have a Kaiju or a board sweeper in hand, in which case it becomes up to 1 interruption.
So what ends up happening is that the deck becomes this guy turbo:
Tumblr media
Because the Libromancers work quite well with him, for some reason.
Or you mix it with the Mikanko deck.
In either case, you're essentially playing the deck your splashing into your Libromancer deck but worse.
I don't know of other brews with them but I can't imagine it's much better.
I'm so sad Konami please let me play the anime fanfiction archetype.

Some of my general Libromancer headcanons 😳
Agent was/is part of an agency(?) but acts more like a private detective/worked solo before the other libros showed up and he was lowkey forced into being the leader. Who knows, maybe he had a previous partner that we'll know about in future support cards(im being hopeful with this...)
Agent and Magigirl are siblings!
Magigirl tries several times with several books to summon something and become a libromancer. When she's attacked by the monster shown in Libromancer First Appearence, she was actually trying to hunt it down but failed to summon something again 😔
Agent isn't an over protective brother. He's trained Magigirl under her request and while he's mad she got herself in danger, he's happy when she finally summons a fairy out of her book. He's also proud when she manages a full merge with her summon (Mystigirl!)
Geekboy is an otaku with all its letters, im talking him making fanart, doujins, fanfics, theories etc. for his favorite everything.
Geekboy does that think Deku does, you know, the super fast nearly unintelligible mumbling.
Geekboy has a BIG collection of Firestarter(the inuniverse comic character) merch! Official and unofficial. A bunch of it made by himself.
Geekboy refuses to let Fire call him by his real name, Fire complains that he [nsfw-ish] cant just moan the word geekboy when they're fucking cause it'd be weird so in that context is... probably fine.... probably.........
Fire is kinda whoreish. Ohh no my abs are showing ohhnooo my pecs are exposed oohhh nooooo. This is why Geekboy got him a sweatshirt instead of a button up shirt.
When they were buying regular clothes for Fire, he kept doing the stuff mentioned above.
Geekboy dressed Fire to his tastes, got himself the perfect boyfriend and dressed him up too. :)
Geekboy and Fire are boyfriends actually did I mention that? Gotta make it crystal clear.
While I mostly use their card's name (Libromancer *name*) when talking about them, "regular" names I sometimes use are
Magigirl/Mystigirl: Maggie/Magnolia. An easy one honestly.
Agent/Doombroker: Agent (yeah...)/Desu-nii
Last one is used by Magigirl mostly, sometimes GeekFire use it too when they want to mess with Agent a bit/are begging for idk mc donalds. Its a play on his japanese name Deathbroker/Desuburoka. I just think its cute.
Fire: He goes by Fire. Thats it thats the whole name.
Geekboy: Michiren/Michi. This is actually just. A funny one, and how I refeer to him as with my partner. Michi in spanish... is the way we say kitty/cute cat...

No hand traps, three archetypes, and nothing but GAS
If you know you're going first switch the libro cards for the snake eye cards. God bless anyone who tries this.

It's time for another Yugioh Monster Card Backstory video! We cover more old and new monsters this time, with extra new monsters since modern archetypes gravitate towards major, self-contained storylines, so you get some backstories with your new playstyles.

Libromancer Fireburst
My first thought on looking at this guy was if he was in Animal Crossing his clothing would be a part of the cool theme. Not because I think he looks cool (which is true), but because of the flame decals on his shirt and pants. He looks kinda nerdy even with them, but something about his confident pose and expression really dials that down. I’m so in love with the pink accents from his hair and glasses; A+ design decision. Speaking of that, the color choice here is fantastic, being both cohesive and distinct enough to not drown out any details, even with the extreme flame effects going on. The stippling effect on the green shocks of flame help with that too, while also providing an appropriate comic book like effect.
