fans “spite-creating” fanwork should be like “im tired of ppl mischaracterizing this side character i don’t even care about in a way that is in no way problematic but it annoys me so much i wrote a whole in-depth analysis of why the fandom views this character COMPLETELY wrong” or “all the fanart ignores this character’s CANONICAL FRECKLES and i spent 8 hours painting this hyperrealistic portrait of this character with their freckles” or “i don’t ship this but people who do always do it WRONG so i’m writing a BETTER version” and like silly fandom stuff not. like.

#txt #mine #fandom crit #og #this post is actually brought to u by going thru my drafts and finding my half-outlined steddyhands fic #that i started writing bc it bothers me how badly steddyhands fics always make stede so nice to izzy right off the bat #i started writing the OUTLINE not the fic itself i would never spend that much energy on a steddyhands fic. i don’t ship it #like for one. so much steddyhands content is anywhere from ‘kinda’ to ‘overwhelmingly’ racist #even if it’s done well (which i DO think is possible. barely) and NOT racistly it just doesn’t appeal to me #like u have to make izzy fix himself before the romance. using romance to fix izzy is so lazy #and i don’t like izzy enough to put the energy into writing izzy fixing himself so that he gets to bone stede and ed #but if u LIKE writing abt izzy getting better and then getting laid. like all the power to u just dont do it at ed’s or other pocs’ expense #anyway not only am i the only one who knows how to do steddyhands right but i’m the only one who knows how to spite-write right #spite write right. jfc
