honestly the worst aspect of K6BD (setting aside any like. directly moral/political/cultural sensitivity stuff) is that like... its protagonist is in such a place that whenever she does something unexpected or weird (or even "predicable-yet-still-shocking") theres a VERY low chance for my reaction to be "OH?!?!?!??!?!? YEAH THAT TRACKS!!!!" ("YOU SLY SONOFABITCH") or even "SHE WOULDN'T FUCKING DO THAT D:<" but just. "oh yeah i guess she'd do that in that situation. sure, fine, continue. its weird but it makes sense for someone in that situation to act that way".

#not that she CAN'T have her own 'wham episode' moments but it feels likm #like since book three its been getting drier and drier from a protagonist standpoint #i think that was partially because of just. the nature of book 5 itself. she had little room for agency yet alone CHOICES during *all that*#but... good lord it didn't Start there (arguably started with the revelation she was still being trained by Inc) and what choices she does #make- even the BIG one- end up muffled by what i guess i can only call a 'subversively accidentally and COMPLEXLY boring protagonist' probl #problem #also GOD from a queer standpoint its fucking sloppy. the implimentation of pretty much any of the themes in the comic is sloppy as shiiiit #wish i had the time/energy/coherence to get into that but fucks sake its almost 2 AM lmao
