There’s not been a lot of updates regarding the “Shake It Off” case recently and I’m wondering if they’re currently trying to settle it out of court.
#taylor swift#shake it off#1989 tv#like this is a huge hang up for her in terms of releasing 1989 tv#the last thing was that she motioned to have it dismissed and the judge disagreed#and that it was most likely headed to a jury trial in like august#I wonder if they managed to settle out of court and that’s why it seems she’s hinting so much at 1989 tv#like she couldn’t possibly release the album with it missing right?#the trademark stuff is probably easier to clear up and may have been already#but these guys seem adamant about it#what’s interesting to me is the amount of people that have sued over the same thing#like wouldn’t that indicate that nobody owns that particular phrase and it’s just part of pop culture/language???#we talked about this in my media law class and my professor thinks it should be in her favor since it’s common language but who knows
