listen i know authors are out here just trying to market their work but every time i see a tiktok like ‘do u want [fictional character] but different? check out my book’ i am always like. actually no i do not.

#alli says shit #like listen i won’t stand here n say i never take inspiration for my characters #there’s multiple shows n books that have inspired power payback #but i’m of the mindset where i would rather ppl think of my characters for who they are #like unless it’s a retelling of smth i don’t need to be reminded of other characters to wanna read smth #i also think. it’s the english major in me #obv compelling characters are good for a story but i’m not reading smth bc the mmc reminds me of the guy from treasure planet
