came to the slightly horrifying conclusion tonight that i would genuinely probably have an easier time nailing dirk's voice if i spent more time on reddit
#dirk's got a very unique cadence that for some reason is extremely difficult for me to write properly#his headspace isn't too hard to get into#his entire personality is abandonment issues and autism i can figure out how he thinks about something pretty easily#but god i CANNOT make it sound exactly like him#i have the opposite problem with roxy actually#roxy's got a distinctive voice that is both easy and fun#but jesus i cannot get into her head she is like a black box#haha insert void joke here#part of it's that she and dave talk very similarly#dirk and rose don't#like yeah they both kind of sound like they're vomiting up a thesaurus but i cannot imagine rose unironically saying the word 'fuckin' '#in the middle of a string of philosophical navel-gazing#whereas dirk does that multiple times in canon#homestuck#dirk strider#original
