I've always always had the idea in my head that Ezra, as an "engineer", has always wanted to do other thing besides be a tech soldier.

But he's really good at it. Like, one of the best. Probably better at it than he'd ever be doing something else, he thinks.

And he's used to combat and explosions and being aboard a ship and life or death situations, having an omni-tool in one hand and a gun in the other. He's an N7, he doesn't belong in any goddamn lab or exploring Prothean ruins. This is who he is, through and through. It'd be a waste to do anything else.

Still. He thinks about a career change all the time.

#oc: Ezra Shepard #does Ezra have a degree...how good at tech stuff is he #Like I've generally leaned towards 'not as good as Tali' and him mostly being a soldier first #(regardless of class this is how Shepard feels. Partly because the game has to default a certain way like. Logistically)#like you can't have a million extra lines of special dialogue for different classes #but also that's purposefully the vibe. Other squadmates are more specialized in different things above Shepard's abillity #and Shepard is a really good military leader and combatant #which is why I'm like. For a cutting edge ship like the Normandy Ezra isn't going to be doing shit with Adams in engineering like Tali does #even though he knows his way around ships. I might even consider that a personal mental thing he has #like he jokes about everyone else being stupid grunts but there's a lot he's not confident in his ability to do #until he has to. Really like the engineer interrupt in Omega #maybe later Ezra will find he's really good at getting colonies up and running.
