hi lin!! here for a little selfship chaos:

something happens (illness, injury,etc. it's up to you!) that keeps you from being able to do some things for yourself, like putting on your shoes, brushing your hair, etc, so arthur has to help you/do those things for you. is he good at it naturally, or does he need some guidance? is there anything that's particularly tricky for the two of you to navigate?

I think in my modern au, Arthur is one of those guys who is just naturally good at being a caretaker. And while he doesn't really do things the way that I would do them, he does them with love and concern for my well being. He'll throw dinner on the grill, wash a load of laundry (and maybe accidentally throw a red sock in with the white clothes), and make sure I'm comfortable, medicated, and pampered as much as possible.

He'll enlist the help of the kids, too- have them cuddle in bed with me and read books, color pictures or bring wildflowers in from the meadows behind the house. They tell me jokes and help keep all the animals fed and happy. I guess you could say it's a family affair when mom is down and out, and Arthur is the leader of it all. My strong and capable guy.

HI SWEETS!

I'm really good! I've got a routine for meds. Thank God the injections are over, because I've got some mean looking bruises on my belly. Most of the surgical glue has flaked away (I might have picked at it a leetol bit...) and I'm feeling better and better each day! I'm getting in a little over a mile a day, plus doing little stuff around the house to avoid sitting for too long. Overall, I'm feeling amaaaaazing!

I am taking my daughter to the mall today for her birthday. She turned 11 this week, and her favorite thing to do is shop (look out hahaha). Should be a fun day! And maybe tonight I'll come back and put some of my old fics back in my blog where they belong.

Are you off this weekend? I haven't been here a whole lot this week, so I'm sure I've missed some of your posts. Anything new you wanna share?

hi, sweetheart! this ask arrived just in time. I needed a little respite from the day I've had (feels Monday part 3), so I'm glad you asked!

My selfship with Arthur is a little complicated. I have a modern AU where he's a truck driver (he hauls livestock), and we end up married with a bunch of kids after a few years. I own a little deli before I start popping out kids. Our favorite thing to do when it was just the two of us was road tripping. we have an old winnebago, and it's our goal to visit all of the continental united states. we collect souvenirs from gift shops and roadside stands. we're also partial to camping and riding horses.

I also have a loose AU that's set in 1899, where I'm a piano player in a saloon in Saint Denis. We meet one evening while he's in town for a job, and he finds himself drawn to continue coming back, even after the gang accomplished what they needed to do. He finds out that I'm essentially homeless and just renting a room in the outskirts of town, but I've been playing music in the saloon to save money to support myself. it's pretty loose lore, but when we do get to spend time together, he takes me out riding, laying in grassy meadows, finding orchids, and exploring secret wonders of the countryside. he also loves to hear me play the piano.

This is actually a semi-autobiographical thing that I started writing over a year ago. I'm not exactly sure where I was going with it, but I found it while I was combing through my docs for this post, and I realized that maybe it has some potential to be rounded out into something meaningful. So, I guess it's a character study of myself and this guy who I allowed to string me along for almost 15 years (non-consecutively), but I could also see it being something I'd like to explore with a blorbo from my shows. I think it would fit Oliver well, but I have zero confidence in my ability to write him convincingly. We shall see.... but it makes me happy that it interested you! It re-ignited a spark for this idea. Maybe I'll actually finish something this year 😭

I KNEW IT! Though I'm a Midwest lady, so it's impossible that you've filled my Kroger clicklist orders.

I always feel bad for the kids who bring my order out to the car and have to tell me that something was out or substituted. There's genuine fear in some of their eyes, and they always seem so relieved when I tell them it's no big deal. I mean, I didn't have to do the shopping myself, so I can't be picky.

Hi! So I didn't actually get a chance to speak with her today. I did go visit at the university though, just to confirm details. I won't see my boss till Monday, but I really don't think it's going to be an issue to ask for one set day off each week. She's always been flexible with me in the past and is well aware that this job isn't my main source of income.

I'm so excited to get back. I didn't think I'd miss it as much as I have, but being back on campus today really made it clear that I'm doing the right thing. Thanks for cheering me on!

It was the most special day I've ever had the joy of participating in! There were about 30 of us to witness their love, there were lots of happy tears, a meaningful ceremony, a thousand pictures taken, a delicious dinner at a nice restaurant, and SO MUCH laughter and joy and love love love. I wish I could post pictures here, but know that they both looked wonderful! It was a perfect day!! Thank you SO much for the well wishes.

The pastor who married them also made a point to tell me, "from one parent to another, you must have done something right" He had nothing but positive things to say about my daughter and her new wife, and my heart just swelled with pride seeing her be so sure about such a big decision.

I'm SO excited for them, and I can't wait to see how they continue to grow together.

YEAH!!! They were going to wait until after they graduated college, but they're worried that they'll lose the right to do so with the..current administration..so they're having a small ceremony with family and a few friends tomorrow.
