I manged to catch up with the dream smp (or atleast Tommys pov) the firs time around while the exile arc was still going (I believe the exact vod was TommyInnit Is Actually Depressed In Exile) and thats when I felt I could interact with the fandom without getting spoiled so I witnessed that popular theory/concept/AU-thingy of Tommy becoming Dreams protegee and getting a mask too n shit and I still think thats an interesting concept that I'll do something with if I ever find the motivation, but I also think its interesting how in practice, Tommy considered suicide before he considered joining Dream in that way yknow

Im abt halfway through the video where tommy dies and I have some thoughts

I find it interesting that Tommy straight up says that the prison is worse than exile, which he considers to be worst period of his life at this point, while also point-blank refusing to sympathize with Dream and infact going out of his way to make it worse (to be clear, I think its fully justified and pretty funny but still. interestin yknow)

Speaking of making things worse, I have so many thoughts about Tommy killing the cat you have no idea. What I like about it is that its almost like a combination of two character moments that I really enjoy; Tommy making it more difficult to visit him in exile and that small moment where Tommy takes Dreams clock away in prison. It showcases his spitefulness and how he does want to see Dream suffer like how he suffered. Also, since he didnt think that Dream would kill him, Im pretty sure he thought of himself as a man with nothing to lose anyway. Like, he didnt seem to have an attachment to the cat and it wasnt really making his stay in the prison better because hes trapped in a small room with Dream and no amount of anything could possibly make that good, whereas Dream has expressed that it made his stay in the prison better. I feel like it was kind of an attempt to gain some kind of upper hand over his abuser, even just subconsciously, in this situation where he theoretically has more 'power' due to his outward lack of attachment, if Im making sense here

Im watching Ghostbur n Philza talk after fundy told him he was getting adopted and hes asking Phil how bad he was when he was alive and how bad of a dad he was and Phil said that he was the best dad for a while before going off into the deep end but like. thats not true is it. Because yeah, Alivebur was definitely a bettet person before he went off into the deep end but like, I didnt feel like he was a very good father back then ? Idk to me it felt like he was really infantalizing Fundy in the lmanberg days and I personally despise that so it really stuck out to me, but also if Fundy still needed like, parental support, Wilbur wasnt giving him that either because he was too busy doing shit with Tommy yknow. I dont remember this being addressed but I feel like they might do that post Wilburs ressurection because that seems like a good opportunity

Wilbur is telling Tommy that hes free now bc Dream thinks the discs have been burned and for some reason my brain just went on high alert like, my first thought upon hearing that was "Is he though. is he free from Dream. Bc to me it sounds like Dream can just kinda do whatever he wants with Tommy without having to worry about the discs being colatteral during their fighting" and like ??? Idk man, I dont really understand my own thought process here either tbh

The only thing I can come up with that makes sense is that the discs being gone (in Dreams mind atleast) now doesnt actually change anything. Like, burning the discs earlier, burning them before the exile would have freed Tommy, but at this point its far deeper than that and Dream has a far stronger hold on Tommys psyche thats not just gonna go away just bc Dream thinks he cant get the discs anymore. Like, he knows how to get Tommy to do what he wants at this point, fiscs or no discs, doesnt he??

I've talked about this before but Ive been somewhat spoiled for the ending of dsmp so I already know that Tommy and Dream are gonna end on good terms or whatever and a lot of people dont like that because something something it sends a bad message something something and Ive already made a post about why complaining about "bad messaging" in media thats not for kids is stupid so Im not gonna get into that again. I just wanted to say that when I look up posts about the finale and I see anyone talking about how its OOC for Tommy to sympathize with Dream or forgive him or whatever, Im just gonna assume you didnt pay too much attention. Like, Tommy forgave literally everyone who wronged him, who ever did anything bad to him no matter what it was. And granted, nothing that Techno did or Wilbur or even Tubbo to an extend, was nearly as bad or deliberate as the things Dream did to him but still, this guy clearly feels bad about 'betraying' Techno during the days building up to Doomsday despite yknow, everything that happened on Doomsday. And sure, Im not gonna say he didnt betray Techno, but I wouldnt say that he was unreasonable or that he should feel bad or anything, but he inexplicably does idk what to tell you. Also, to be fair, the people that have been complaining about OOC stuff during the finale have mostly been complaining about Dream but Im just saying this in advance

I know I should probably just wait until I finish this stupid series to start having opinions about the finale but I cant help it man, I keep looking into my for you tab and I keep seeing posts about it and it took me 40 days to watch around two thirds of the dsmp (if the playlist is to be believed) i cant keep my opinions to myself for that long

Its kinda wild to think about how miserably and sortof obviously Dream failed. Im not talking about him getting defeated and thrown in jail bc its clear he still have some tricks up his sleeve, I mean like, he tried to rid himself of attachment and he didnt even come close. He named his armor, his sword, his trident even though it was completely unnecessary because they were his, because they meant something to him yknow

Ive already said this but Ive been spoiled so I know Wilbur and Quackity are gonna be gay for each other and everything but like, Wilburs only been there for like 2 minutes max and its already so painfully obvious that he loves this country more than he will ever love another person yknow
