Kanaya can't conceive of something as weird as a human, just yet - so she’s doing the troll equivalent of anthropomorphizing.

From what she recorded, it seems the group had very little knowledge of what they were getting into. And yet they appear to have been the only of their kind to have risen to the challenge in a session stacked heavily against them. You are convinced her leadership was the difference.

Honestly, she’s not that far off. Rose’s leadership was extremely important in getting John safely through his First Gate - and then the Horrorterrors showed up, ruining everything. 

I love that ROOSEL ALONDE is this huge badass in Kanaya’s mind. She seems to be a violet-blood, on the high end of the spectrum - which makes sense, since her walkthrough is written in what Kanaya would perceive to be an upper-class accent. 

It would be nice to have the chance to talk to her. Alas, she's likely been dead for millennia. Only the incomplete record of a long forgotten quest remains.

On the other hand, if you were to discover her quest ended in failure, it might be somewhat disillusioning.

You have a lot of inside information on what you and your coplayers are about to face. You are jacked tight the fuck into this thing in so many ways we don't know what to say anymore. And it's not just cloud visions either.

Alright, I know I said I wouldn’t speculate, but...

I don’t think it’s Sollux-style Visions, since she doesn’t seem to be psychic. For the same reason, I’ll discount the Voices, and any other variety of troll psionics. 

She could be employing Sburb powers, but I’m still committed to my theory that Terezi is the Seer, and there’s no real evidence that any other classes grant you information. Jade’s might, but her Title is pretty confusing, so I don’t think I should count her. 

Some sort of time travel could be in play - but that implies it’s Aradia giving Kanaya intel, and she’s been keeping people on a need-to-know basis since this whole thing began. I doubt Aradia would give future intel to anyone but her own past self. 

Doc Scratch could be telling her all sorts of things. I want to say Kanaya wouldn’t be as easy a mark as Vriska, but I’m pretty sure Scratch could adapt his manipulation style to any target he likes. This might actually be the most plausible option - I just really don’t want it to be true. Stay the fuck away from Kanaya, orb man.

In one dream, the clouds pointed you to the address of a server hidden in an obscure pocket of a realm unknowable to mortals. It contains a journal written by a young member of an alien species. She has documented her experiences playing the game you are about to play.

Most of the trolls’ sources are fairly suspicious, and I’m constantly trying to figure out where their hidden agendas are. This guide, though, is guaranteed to be trustworthy, because we’ve watched Rose develop it in real time. Plus, she wrote the whole thing before her corruption. This really is a best-case-scenario. 

Back when Rose first started writing this guide, I hoped that it could become a beacon of hope - a way to help out other sessions, and maybe gain some allies. In a very real way, this was the first gesture of friendship from the kids to the trolls.

It also explains why, a long, long time ago, I wondered how Kanaya seemed aware of Rose's personality prior to Project Trolling. Turns out their relationship began right here.

Equius may be a little weird about blood, but this guy sounds like a straight-up eugenicist. What the fuck are they teaching this kid in sea-dweller school?

Plus, how does bloodline purity even work in this context? All bloodlines are mixed inside the Mother Grub, so it’s not like you can control the process by segregating marriages. Does he want to purify the ‘slurry’ of troll DNA, before it’s consumed by the Grub in the first place?

CA has clouds and monsters - almost as though he’s seeing clouds on Derse. 

We didn’t see any when Rose was visiting Dave - but then again, Prospit only gets its clouds during the Skaian Eclipse. Does Derse have a dark Eclipse, where the Horrorterrors generate their own esoteric weather patterns? 

The other possibility is that CA is on Prospit, and the ‘misfortune and monstrosities’ he’s seeing are ordinary cloud prophecies. This would bode poorly.

The trolls are lousy with ‘sources’, so I don’t have a clue what Kanaya’s could be. I’ll throw something at the wall anyway, and predict that it’s an 8-Ball to complement Vriska’s cueball.

Heh. Terezi already fell for this one. 

Anyway, it doesn’t take a genius to pair the concept of quadrants with the four categories of relationship that we’ve seen so far. The flushed quadrant describes a ‘Scarlet’ variety of relationship - in other words, red romance - and, since it involves ‘longing to touch’ someone, it’s probably not the less romantic moirail. Kanaya is implying that CA wants CC as a matesprit. 

This is getting pretty complex - even more so than Karkat’s original description implied. I haven’t needed to be on my toes this much since the Intermission’s time fuckery.
