This is a Ford F-150 (2004) model. And recently, they launched an electric version of this. I get it. Trucks/pick-ups are part of the American culture and it makes sense for Ford to do an electric version. But honestly, I love their 1950s F-100 - a hot rod version. Its super cool - a good paint job can either make it very classy or totally gothic. . With Isuzu VCross, I believe that the “truck” culture is coming to India. During our US ride, my son and I accidentally spotted the Floyd Garrett’s Muscle Car Museum sign. This was one of the best discoveries. This is a unique spot featuring some of the greatest American cars built from ’50s too ‘70s. I believe (if my memory is right), they had close to 100 cars parked in a large indoor space. Take your time in this museum. For my son, the Dodge Daytona is kind of special because it is the “King” in the Disney movie, Cars. In the 80s, I grew up watching war time movies. Often, soldiers jump off a helicopter and run deep into the jungles of Vietnam. Perhaps, those images fuelled my fascination for helicopters. . I always wanted to fly in one. Just to experience it. In India, it is extremely expensive and it doesn’t make economic sense (at least for me!). . While riding around Tennessee, my son and I noticed a bunch of helicopter tours. We made it our mission to fly in one. . Considering this pandemic situation, I’m only glad that we took the opportunity when it knocked on our door. . Since it is the Olympics season, I thought I will share my connect with the Olympics. That’s me holding the official London Olympic torch at the Coco Cola museum. . Once upon a time, I was good in track and field but then, I tore quite a few ligaments. Else…. . . …. no “else” because I ran against the best (district sports hostel athletes) and they kicked my butt!!!! Being good in a school wasn’t good enough against these professionally trained dudes. . My mom’s dad was a boxer in the Indian Navy and was a successful one. Inspired by the 1982 Asian games, I do remember wearing his medals and jumping around. And in the process I lost them. And my mom wasn’t happy. And between shifting houses, I have lost most of mine. . Growing up, I do remember watching the games and having favourites. Carl Lewis was my main man and hence, I ended up doing 100m, 200m and long jump. The Ben Johnson episode is still very clear in my memory because my idol was trashed. . I have total respect to all the Indian athletes because in India (except for cricket), sports is a hobby and not a career. . PS: I tore my ligament during my long jump trials. The pit was substandard. My spikes locked into the ground and my ligament snapped! And now (30yrs later), I noticed another such substandard pit in a very popular school. This picture was taken in 2019, when my friend and I decided to ride to Grossglockner. It is the highest mountain in Austria and a paradise for motorcyclist. I didn’t want to go back without completing this. Considering it to be hard time (in terms of weather and duration), I decided to leave my son with the team in Italy. . It was a bright and sunny morning in Italy. And by the time we reached Austria, it was cold and raining. As the rain grew harder, there were less motorcycles on the road and soon, we had to deal with SUVs and trucks. . Most of the shots were taken on our GoPro and unfortunately, one too many water drops that spoilt the view. . For about 6 hours of our 8 hour ride, we were drenched in rain. . I think we spent less than 10 minutes on top of Grossglockner because it was extremely cold and we didn’t have a place to hide. . Too bad I didn’t take my son on this day trip. It would have been another experience in his life. In 2019, my son and I were making the most of our trip to USA. With our base being Atlanta, we decided to ride through the Tail Of The Dragon. Actually, we did better by staying in the famous Deal’s Gap motorcycle resort for 3 days. And across the road was the Killboy’s store. . Killboy clicked some fab pics of my son and I. .
