WHAT'S (STILL) GOING ON, #6. Stevie Wonder, Innervisions. Guess if we’re down this route and not worried about repeats (I put this one on at some point in the last year or so), this one seems necessary. Livin’ Just Enough for the City of Systemic Racism. He’s Misstra Richard M. Nixon Know-It-All (which is practically gentle compared to “You Haven’t Done Nothin’” a year or so later). Higher Ground and the funky apocalypse ... man, that skit or radio play or whatever you’d call the break in Living For the City is just this side of cheesy but it still makes me sad for the character who goes to jail unfairly. It works well, the little synth noodling patiently in the background as it plays out. Unfairness stings.
