Experiments. LOEWE. Ready To Wear Spring 2023

The LOEWE house is famous for its extravagant and whimsical approach to the design of men's and women's clothing, and this does not prevent them from being at the forefront of European luxury and craftsmanship for over a century. The house gained wider popularity under the watchful eye of Jonathan Anderson, who breathed new life into LOEWE using bizarre silhouettes and surreal codes. LOEWE is the oldest fashion house in LVMH's "stable", so a lot is being done there to keep the brand's DNA alive.

As we remember, the collection for this fall and the coming winter includes car-shaped clothes, leather jackets, molded wool and leather dresses and lace-up shoes - bags. In the Spring and Summer 2023 collection, Anderson took a gentle approach while remaining true to his fantastic imaginations.

A giant fiberglass anthurium rose from the floor in the show space, and its motif was featured in the collection - Anderson molded it into entire bras that wrapped around the torso or bra cups. But the anthurium was not the generally accepted femme fleur - it's a poisonous flower, after all.

Models wandered around the aforementioned anthurium in excessively flared stiff dresses, some tops "replaced" the wax petals of anthurium, hand-painted floral motifs were decorated with shiny, ceramic-like clothes, and the leaves of tropical plants stuck to the shoes.

Taylor Russell, opening the show, wore a strapless black velvet dress with a bustle widening the hips and styling a baroque silhouette. Anderson repeated the look in three more colors.

In fact, repetitions define this collection. There were, for example, four strange dresses whose fronts were hung on a wire structure. The very short dresses are made of enameled metal painted with flowers.

The baby carriers were a kind of cloth-covered counterparts of the golden breastplates from the Spring 2022 collection.

So Anderson continues to experiment with fiberglass and metal, although softer elements have appeared in the collection, which testify to the knowledge of this Spanish brand in the treatment of leather. The collection includes oversized shirt dresses and sweater dresses with open shoulders and evening outfits made of delicate fabrics.

Pixel hoodies, t-shirts and pants were taken from the digital 8-bit world of games, and the metallized breastplates that made a big impression on the audience a year ago have replaced the (of course empty) baby carriers. For colder days, the collection includes the aforementioned two-color leather stylizations enriched with exaggerated sleeves that hung down to the shimmering floor.
