Stuart, the guitar player of one of my fav bands, answered about 10 things that was a life changing for him. I think its a nice meme to follow, specially working as a mtfckr from home and  stopping just to sleep as I am since December. Ahhhh...

So lets go (I think it will be much more than 10).

1. Discovering skate rock and surf music when I was 13. Offspring, NOFX, Bad Religion... It was a sort of freedom in the shithole where I was born. Me and my best friend at the time, Vandre, use to smoke weed and listen to skate punk inside the trees. It was very funny and we use to feel the whole freedom in this pathetic situation. We even got tattoos together to mark these moments of liberation. One of my best friends. I miss him. 2. Leaving the place where I was born at 17. Aff! You can’t imagine. Welcome to Porto Alegre!

3. Philosophy, Anarchism and Feminism. Mind altering without substances.

4. Drugs. Mind altering with substances. A newly refurbished realm opened. 5. Travels. Life in first hand.

6. Music and art in general. I’m obsessed with beauty, meaning and sublime.

7. Mogwai and John Frusciante. Mogwai is a great, accessible band that manages to mix classical and popular elements without pretension, always in tune with the zeitgeist and that took me to visit the Highlands. In addition, we have a love story that lasts more than 20 years. Through Mogwai I got in touch with a completely new world and even moved to Europe. Mogwai is one of my biggest life changings. I wrote a thesis about music inspired by my experiences with Mogwai.

John Frusciante is a very special guy (piscies!)  whom I have a very big identity. His way to look at art and his commitment with it touches my so so deeply. He is a very sensitive and romantic guy and never cheesy.  I never feel alone when I’m reading about him, his thoughts or listening his work. Besides, I love his sense of humor. He is a sort of soul mate. There was a time I use to dream I was chatting with him everyday. One day I asked in my dream: “Hey, but we dont even know each other and will never on awaken world”. Then he answered: “No matter, this world (dream world) is the one that really matters”. I think it is a funny dream, specially knowing a bit about his thoughts. But if I had to highlight an episode relating Frusciante it would be the launch of Empyrean in 2009. This album really changed my life.

8. Live Concerts and raves. In the post-industrial societies that we live in, shamanic trance rituals took another form, neither better nor worse, but corresponding to their context. The energy of being among unknown people attuned to them through sound is one of the most beautiful things I know, something very tribal, that puts us back in touch with some sense of existence.

9. Literature and Writting. Another fucking way to free the mind. I write and read all the time.

10. Skating and surfing. Even though I was born on the biggest (and ugliest) beach in the world, I was always afraid to surf, because I’ve lost a professional surfer friend to the sea when I was a teenager and that left me traumatized. Moving to a wild beach in Portugal was also a life-changing episode, being in touch with the strenght of the sea is one of the most strong aesthetic experiences I already had. I feel so small and so helpless in the face of the magnitude of the sea. In 2020, I lost my fear of surfing and finally entered the water with my surfboard at sunset  and it was one of the most remarkable and horny experiences of my life. I'm still an apprentice, but surfing has turned into an endless lust. Skating is the same thing. I have a lonboard for dancing and I wanna change it for a cruiser and get faster. All this things about movement and speed always turned me on.

I think it's always all about freeing your mind. Each step is a life changing. This post was written while listening Bad Religion - Infected to remember old times.

Demostrando sus habilidades y talento sobre ruedas,  más de 50 jóvenes de Cali vivieron un importante encuentro con el programa Vértigo de la Secretaría del Deporte y la Recreación en el Super Push Vol. 3.Esta actividad convocó a los mejores deportistas de las escuelas Vértigo que se encuentran distribuidas en seis puntos de la ciudad, brindando la posibilidad a niños y jóvenes de Santiago de Cali de practicar deportes de nuevas tendencias, de manera gratuita.En esta ocasión el parche se longboarders fue el encargado de cautivar con el deporte uno de los mejores escenarios, el Patinódromo Mundialista de la unidad deportiva Alberto Galindo, en una sana competencia de equilibrio y destreza.Camilo Méndez, coordinador logístico del programa comentó “esta es una competencia a través de la cual fomentamos la práctica de deportes extremos; el Longboard en una modalidad del Skateboarding que se ejecuta en tablas más largas donde tuvimos competencias de salto largo, relevo y un taller de dancing, siendo   una variación de esta disciplina que impacta diversos sectores de la ciudad.El taller estuvo a cargo de invitados especiales de Bogotá, Dance Board Colombia quienes demostraron sus habilidades en patineta, mezclando la velocidad al son del ritmo de diferentes géneros musicales, convirtiéndose en una innovadora práctica del Skate.   En este encuentro de iniciación uno de los deportistas que se destacó fue Gabriel Huérfano, quien es de los primeros jóvenes que se sumó a las escuelas Vértigo de lonboarding “me siento genial cuando práctico este deporte, desde muy pequeño mi papá me enseñó y es una sensación increíble cargada de adrenalina cada vez que salto en la patineta. Este adolescente de apenas 15 años de edad, que cursa noveno grado, ha descubierto en el deporte un nuevo estilo de vida que le permite soñar.La Secretaría del Deporte y la Recreación continúa invitando a la comunidad a formar parte de este programa que facilita herramientas, monitores y escenarios idóneos para la práctica de siete disciplinas extremas.

I never realized how much time I spend leaning on my elbows. Like jesus can I just put my face directly on the table then if I can’t use them? lesson learned. wear elbow pads. I feel like hobbling around. knees are bruised and shoulders/arms sore from climbing (yes I know this is from my bad technique). Hips, legs, elbows are bruised and skinned from lonboarding (seriously, when is someone going to make like. hip pads for the filthy casuals. cause I fall on my butt about 89% of the time.) 

but also, this is fun. I haven’t been having this much fun since I was a kid climbing trees and riding horses tbqh. life is good!!
