On the 16th September 2002 EWS got into the spirit by putting 37670 St Blazey TMD on the fuel tanks trip from St Blazey to Longrock HST depot. This was the 150th Anniversary of the West Cornwall Railway and to celebrate Wessex trains was launching the first refurbished 150 DMU 150244. On hand were the author of the written history of the WCR to sign his book, the Mayor of Penzance and of course lots of other dignitaries of one sort or the other. Not surprisingly there were a fair few people around as Wessex were offering free travel on the newly refurbished unit to Truro immediately after the naming ceremony. 150244 was to be named ‘The West Cornwall Experience’  So what could possibly go wrong? Well 37670 ran into difficulties in front of the incoming unit delaying it’s arrival in Penzance and leaving very little time for the ceremony. At least EWS managed to get a rescue engine to the poorly 37 and brought the train into the platform at Penzance for people to see. It was a unique event as normally the fuel tankers would return empty from Longrock directly to St Blazey.
