Anyway I hate "X meets Y" marketing as much as anyone else but if you think tiktok invented cliche genre books that dont have much originality than you must either be a teenager or only now started paying attention to like media in general
#seasalt talks#writing workshop#hot take but most media is generic and boring#just bc only now you're noticing doesnt mean tropes or fucking fanfic ruined culture#look at 2000s YA 70s bodice rippers or just the vast majority of any genre#romance in particular is suspectiable to this bc of the intense turnaround rate writers need to be profitable#at some point you just got to accept the picky eater inside of you and be ok with being selective about your tastes#no amount of bitching is gonna suddenly make every book a masterpiece that shakes your world#and frankly most ppl dont need that and are fine with having cute little predictable fun timez
