cDream doesn't have a god complex. He has a savior complex and he's self-righteous about it. If you asked him, he'd tell you he's the second coming of Christ and he has to do what he does to save humanity from damnation and also the flood. Then he'd tell you cTommy is the Anti-Christ and he's trying to lead you to temptation. Also the cardinal sin is building a country.
And undeniably, he'd be right because if he wasn't Christ then why would God give him the power of resurrection? He'd ask you that and you'd have no way to argue against him. Then he'd crash out and tell you that he's like a God and you'd have to tune him out and remember that's just how he expresses joy.

I have to disagree hard with this one I fear, on multiples points. George doesn't need to assimilate into Kinoko for her to look like she belongs there. Not only does the biome its built in happen to George's favorite, the entire mushroom themeing is because of George. Karl puts George in charge of building because he liked her mushroom house a lot and wanted the country to mimic it.
And even if George did struggle to be a part of Kinoko, it's very clear that the country itself means a lot to her. I mean, it's to the point where if she had to choose Dream or Kinoko she'd choose the latter. And I think the reason it means so much is that it's familiar. It's a safe community of friends that she helped build. It makes sense for George to lean more into Kinoko at a time where Dream is gone. And imo she did. If you look at George's relationships with other countries she's been a part of, her involvement with Kinoko is the most similar to her involvement in early Greater SMP.
I have a lot more to say on this topic but I tend to ramble so I'm just gonna do that on my own time LOL. Long story short George visually fitting in to Kinoko's environment is almost inevitable since it was most definitely built with her in mind. Also George having a cutesy design makes sense because uhh those red mushrooms are poisonous and dangerous dark things usually have a bright approachable exterior in nature. And blah blah blah idk back to not posting.
I think giving him like mushroom motif is cute to visually tie him in to kinoko kingdom but the whole point is that cgeorge never successfully assimilates into a community ever again after he loses dream. And the cottagecore/mosscore thing is cute but i think its almost like, too cutesy for a character that i personally see as this tragedy on two legs

tbh I have never seen any cdream apologists call csapnap evil, rather I often see them calling him a stubborn dumbass馃し馃徎
I've seen all of the above and not only on dreblr. However, even the take that Sapnap is stubborn or stupid in some way for wanting Dream locked up, or for any other reason is simply incorrect.
A lot of you fail to understand that Sapnap has every reason to dislike Dream and want him out of the way. Dream has personally hurt Sapnap. And people comparing his takes on Dream's imprisonment to those who have NEVER been effected by or even seen the effects of Dream's behavior is unfair.
And of course, as I'm saying this, know I'm not talking about every dream apologist. There are definitely outliers and exceptions to every rule. If this doesn't apply to you or the things you've personally seen that's fine! But there are people who think this way and this post is mostly directed towards them.
Now, from what I've seen, a lot of people don't understand Sapnap's relationship with Dream towards the end of the smp, so let me explain. Sapnap and Dream have never seen eye to eye on really... anything. George has always been a follower, but Sapnap does his own thing. There are times where Sapnap is on Dream's side just out of obligation the L'manberg war is a good example because Sapnap had no issues with L'manberg's creation until Dream did. There's also doomsday, since Sapnap felt wrong going against Dream and his allyship had to be bought by Tommy using Mars. Sapnap goes against Dream directly during the disc war because he technically caused it and therefore felt obligated to help Tommy, since they're also friends.
A lot of people don't know that Tommy and Sapnap have been pretty close friends since the beginning. Out of the Dream Team, Sapnap is actually the only one to not have a hatred for Tommy or his behavior. There was a time or two when he parroted George or Dream's opinions but it's obvious from the beginning that Sapnap feels differently than them about Tommy, L'manberg, and nations in general.
Saying all that to make the point that: Sapnap's disagreement with and fallout with Dream didn't come out of nowhere. Him going to Tommy to ask if he thought Dream actually cared about him wasn't random. He didn't just go up to an enemy and ask their opinion, Tommy is a friend. A friend who also knows Dream well. So when Tommy tells Sapnap that Dream doesn't care about him after the whole Spirit speech, he's obligated to believe him.
And now you're probably saying "Well Sapnap should've just talked to Dream about it." And he does. During the dethronement fallout. During this, Sapnap brings it up in front of Dream and George and Dream is simply dismissive. And he uses all his effort to convince George that he cares all while demonizing Sapnap and claiming he's trying to "split them apart" just for asking George for her feelings and opinions. Sapnap obviously doesn't like the way George or himself is being treated in that moment and it shows. As they're going back to El Rapids, Sapnap even says that he feels left behind by Dream. He feels that Dream is taking power and cutting both him and George out of it. And he absolutely is. When George is crowned king, Dream explicitly says that if anything were to happen to George then Sapnap is next in line for the throne. Yet Sapnap doesn't get the throne.
And now you may claim that "Dream wouldn't make Sapnap king because he doesn't want Sapnap to be targeted like George was." or "Sapnap has a nation, he can't get the kingship" and to that I say, Sapnap can protect himself, unlike George and Dream knows that. George was also king and sitting VP of Manberg at the same time, so Sapnap being part of El Rapids wouldn't have meant he couldn't be crowned. Sapnap wasn't crowned because Dream didn't want him to be. That's all.
Now moving past the dethronement, we can also talk about how Dream killed Quackity, hunted down and tried to kill George, and threatened to kill all of El Rapids (including Sapnap) into the mix. Then you can factor in how after all that, Sapnap still found it weird to go against Dream during doomsday (even despite his fianc茅s being on L'manbergs side) or lets not speak on the fact dream gave mars to tommy during the pet war.
Then you get to the stage conflict, and really this was the nail in the coffin. Had this only been a rescue mission for clingyduo maybe, just maybe, Sapnap wouldn't have been ok with keeping Dream in the prison. But that isn't the case. Because Dream had to (in Sapnap's eyes, he doesn't know things were staged) once again put power above Sapnap and most importantly George. People like to pretend that they were unaffected, especially saying that Dream had nothing of George's, but that isn't true. In that possession vault, Dream had Beckerson and a place for Mars.
You guys don't seem to understand how devastating this is for Sapnap. Those fish were a symbol of not only the earliest days of the smp, but also symbols of Dream Team's friendship. Beckerson was Dream and George's fish. Beckerson was George's fish. And if there's one thing Sapnap cares about protecting it's George. It's the reason Sapnap doesn't tell George about the things Dream does, and why he seemingly doesn't tell George that the prison allows visitors after Dream specifically requests to see her. Sapnap cares about George above anything and everything on that server. And he was fooled to believe that Dream, his best friend Dream, would've used their fish to try and control her. That's a problem. That's a problem that needs to be detained.
And yes Sapnap believes things aren't going well in the prison for Dream. He thinks he's getting worse, but the only proof of that he's seen is that he wouldn't talk. Dream going mute is in no means worse than Dream getting out and hurting everyone and everything Sapnap cares about. Dream is Sapnap's friend but he does not hold that friendship above everything else he has. Especially since, in Sapnap's eyes, that friendship has been onesided for a long long time.
And this doesn't even mention that after all this, Sapnap still hears Dream out after his escape. He could've easily killed Dream in Snowchester, but instead he lets him talk. He stalls. He tries to agitate Dream so that he makes the first move. Because Sapnap doesn't have the heart to actually lay him down. And while Sapnap immediately tries to kill Dream with the deathbook, Dream dying somewhere random where Sapnap doesn't have to see is much much easier than killing him himself. Something he feels obligated to do just for aiding Dream in getting as bad as he was. After he learns he can't kill Dream he starts daydreaming about how much of a power duo they'd be as a team. Because deep down he still sees them as a team.
And they would be if they communicated better. They would be if Dream saw them as equals. They would be if Dream hadn't put those damn fish in his vault. The burden of fixing what remains of their friendship is on Dream because at the end of the day, Sapnap's only fault was reacting to the things Dream did.
So when I see Dream apologists calling Sapnap stubborn, or stupid, or a bad friend, or a sociopath. I consider that a horrid take, because all Sapnap has done ever is care for his friends. And I won't see Sapnap made out to be the bad guy in Dreamnap's relationship because no matter how you bend it, he isn't. And the fact that a good few of you villainize him and George when it comes to Dream team's relationship ending shows that you ignore the povs of other characters just as much as Tommy apologists ignore the pov of Dream. If you want to blame everyone involved, then do that, but make sure the weight is on Dream. And that's just how I feel about this subject.
Sorry about the rant anon but I do not play about c!Dteams relationship and this has been boiling in my brain for a while. amen.

very interested in what u have to say the ctommy line "he's like my owner" about cdream and cdream having ctommy listen to a disc of him being tortured in exile. please rant about that slash not forced
This is a really fun ask because boy oh boy do I have thoughts. And I'm sure it will upset the masses (especially my take on the second part of this ask)
Now, to start with the owner quote... genuinely the bane of my existence. Mostly because people tend to use it to try and understand discduo's general dynamic when it should only be used to understand how Tommy feels. Tommy sees Dream as his owner, sure, but this doesn't automatically mean that Dream feels the same way. The only thing this quote does on Dream's behalf is highlight the amount of control he had over Tommy during exile. Or at least, shows how much power Tommy percieves him having. I say percieve because in reality, Dream had no power at all over Tommy. The realization of that is what motivates Tommy to leave exile in the first place and what keeps him going afterwards.
That quote, to me, shows Tommy's mental decline and his dependence on Dream as his only "friend" the only thing "keeping him alive" someone he depends on. Very similar to a pet and owner relationship. No matter what an owner does, a pet is unable to fight back, unable to run, unable to escape because it depends on it's owner for survival. This is how Tommy sees himself and Dream during exile. And that's all that quote is meant to show. I'd argue that Dream saw exile as more of a "mentorship" preparing and molding Tommy into a weapon he could use. Not unlike Techno post exile (though he definitely went about it in a moderately better way)
Now. Let's get into my favorite topic. Post prison discduo's relationship, because absolutely NO ONE has gotten this stage of their dynamic correct so it's all up to me. This will upset the "Dream is so obsessed with Tommy that he started fucking with him the second he got out of prison for no reasom" crowd, so i ask you to get your sighs and eye rolls out of the way now and enjoy the rant.
Before we can talk about the torture disc, we first have to talk about Dream's appearance on exile island. So... what was that about? Did Dream, fresh out of prison, really decide his first course of action would be to torment a child for no reason?
Well!
Obviously not.
Dream went to exile island for one reason and one reason only. To retrieve the axe of peace and repay his favor to Techno. Tommy just happened to be there and so Dream took the opportunity to scare him. But why? You might be asking. Why would Dream attack Tommy? He could've just left. Well, the answer is obvious, in fact Dream out right says it before he starts attacking Tommy.
Dream's main goal once he gets out of prison is to get revenge on the people who allowed him to be tortured in prison. Obviously, that means Sam and Quackity, so why then is Tommy attacked? Simple. Dream believes that Tommy direct caused and supported his torture. And this isn't a random moment of Dream blaming Tommy for his problems either. Dream is attacked by Quackity immediately after Q talks about Tommy's death/revival and Dream asks if people "thought it was cool." That makes it pretty obvious that Q was torturing Dream at least partially on Tommy's behalf. And given the fact that Tommy is the only person alive who has been affected by revival (and the reason Dream's life was originally spared due to Tommy wanting to keep the possibility of seeing Wilbur again) It makes perfect sense that Tommy is not only the reason that Q wants to torture Dream, but also may be the reason he wants the book at all.
Dream is not an idiot and could've easily pieced this together, causing Dream to treat Tommy the way he did Sam. Taunting, scaring, and threatening him as payback.
Now, let's go back to the original topic, the torture mixtape. We've already established that Dream has a real reason (in his mind) for targeting Tommy. But why did he do it the way he did? Well, we see during most of the post prison lore that Dream is not at his full strength. Tommy and Tubbo comment on how slow and weak he is during the dsmp finale. Dream also needs to recruit Purpled just to take down Quackity, who would've been easy work for let's say doomsday era Dream (minus the slime army which Dream didn't even know about when he recruited Purpled)
Dream's inability to fight is very important because it explains why Dream resorted to taunting, threats, and triggering Tommy's trauma. It's a scare tactic. Because scaring Tommy is really all he can do to get him off his ass. Even though Tommy is a weak opponent, Dream wouldn't be able to kill him in genuine combat. I mean, hell, Dream barely even comes close to harming Tommy or Tubbo during the finale. And so soon after his escape Dream was much weaker than we see him during the finale.
Post prison, Dream's goals barely even include Tommy anyway, and he's more of an annoying obstacle than a genuine opponent at that point. Tommy isn't even worth half the effort Dream gives to Quackity and Sam. Dream used the threats and mixtape to scare Tommy into avoiding him so that he wouldn't have to fight yet another opponent.
Also sidenote: Dream definitely knew Tommy was getting that axe to try and kill him. Again, he's not an idiot. Keeping Tommy too afraid to try anything is important for Dream's survival and his overall plan for the server.
Anyway! That's all I have to say about this topic. I haven't slept and I'm slowly going insane so uhm... if I repeat myself too many times justttt pretend I didn't.

The progression from Dream's very adamant "I'm not God." during dethronement to his excited "I'm a God!" during prison arc needs to seriously be studied. No one ever talks about this and it drives me INSANE.

I don't think cDream's limbo is the prison. Just sitting in pandora's vault wouldn't be meaningful enough, cDream does that regardless, he goes back willingly even though he's free. His limbo needs to be something a little more meaningful.
I think cDream's limbo is what cTommy sees during the finale. Imagine it, everytime cDream dies he's forced to rewatch the best times of his life. On repeat. He has to wander through the smp when it's still lively and fun, watch his old self with his old friends. Always observing, never interacting. He's forced to watch the life that he ruined, the life he gave away. Just to hopelessly pursue it in life, which only breaks the shards even more.
cDream will never have that era of his life back. Being reminded of that is more of a hell than a limbo, but maybe it's what he deserves. He believes it's what he deserves.

I鈥檓 so glad to have someone who actually acknowledge C!Dream more than just Tommy鈥檚 abuser because to me while that is a part of his character I always feel like just focusing on that and Tommy and dream as a abuser and victim is not a disservice for Dream character, but also Tommy鈥檚 character. like Tommy is more than just a victim kind of found it ironic that the people who always use exiles as an example end up kind of accidentally dehumanized Tommy in a way. I got this entire essay in my head about how the fandom is so overprotective of Tommy to the point that they would excuse every single action that he did that even in universe is presented as a bad thing, but that鈥檚 a story for another day 锟硷考
I agree wholeheartedly. Tommy apologists like to pretend they're the "good people" when really all they're pushing is the rhetoric that a victim will never be more than their abuse. Everything tommy has ever done is just pointed back to "he was abused." Even if you talk about something as early as L'manberg it'll always be "he was a kid, he went through a lot" To a lot of these people, Tommy is nothing more than his trauma. He's hurt, a wounded animal, he can't do any better. And it's such a disservice to Tommy's character when people infantilize him like that.
I think the discs are a good example of that last point. I remember seeing a post recently explaining away Tommy's unhealthy obsession with the discs saying "it reminds him of the early days" or something. And I can not even BEGIN to dissect how wrong that is. Tommy's dependence on and obsession with the discs is presented as a BAD THING narratively since the beginning. I mean. before Tommy went through anything he was already putting the value of these discs he found above the happiness of Tubbo. He kills Tubbo's pet bee and when he asks for the discs in return, do you know what Tommy does? He burns down Tubbo's house. And it's like, how can you present Tommy's obsession with the discs as a cute normal thing when it's always shown as being a negative aspect of his character. He gets actual character development during the staged disc finale and the actual finale when he's able to finally put Tubbo's life above the discs. And these people, who are supposed to be so well versed in the character, can't seem to grasp that small of a character trait because they haveeee to infantilize Tommy because he's a victim. I would love love love to see your essay btw! I love seeing people's takes on this topic because it's rare people ever talk about it and it's something i'm kinda passionate about. So if you ever jot down your thoughts on here, know i will reblog tf out of it LMAO.

Decoding c!George: Discussing the fandoms mischaracterization and disregard of Gnf [Explaining George's character.]
Tumblr media
Note : I will not be using "c!" because i find it tedious, but this is about the dsmp characters. I will be using she/her pronouns for George throughout this blog and all of the following ones. If this bothers you, feel free to read this using whichever pronouns you prefer. Enjoy.
I couldn't count on seven hands the amount of times i've been hit with "Does George even have lore??" in response to me mentioning her at all. Due to how obnoxiously genuine I find that question usuallyis, I decided to start a little series! In it, I'll be going into depth about George's lore whilst critiquing, hating, and debunking common potrayals/headcanons for the character.
This post will focus on George's general character traits, while the next ones will go more in depth on specific arcs, details, dynamics and theories. The next planned posts will be about George's lore and Dnf.
Alright, now that the introductory portion is out of the way, I can start with the analysis. The first step to understanding a character is figuring who the character is. So our first section will be talking about the basics of c!George as well as common potrayals, misinformation and more below the cut.
The bones of c!George ))
Tumblr media
Let me also get this out out the way first and foremost: George a fully developed character. Traits of ccGeprge should Not impact your portrayal of her AT ALL.
With that out of the way, how do you portray George correctly? Who is this character? What are her motivations?
At her core, George is actually a very similar character to Dream. George also craves power and control. They have the same aspirations (that being the servers reunion and a return to the early days of the smp), the same opinions on L'manberg and Tommy (George's takes during the pog v swag debate seem to parrot Dream's (or rather, Dream parrots George later)), the same violent outbursts in response to a loss of control or respect, and the same belief that they are above the rules of the server.
A big part of c!George's character is her obsession with strength and power. This has been a core part of her since the very beginning of the server. Prior to L'manbergs existence, George spent the majority of her time maxing out her armor and weapons. She was the first member to have fully enchanted gear, and it was op. To the point that Dream and Sapnap wanted to strip her of everything because she was using her power to terrorize the server and they couldn't fight back. Due to this, George was the first character to ever be labeled a tyrant.
George also tends to cling to titles that represent power. The most prominent example of this is the dethronement conflict, where George tries to keep the title of king. It's to the point where she plans a takeover of the entire smp in order to reinstate herself as leader. George also seems very keen on taking control of L'manberg, saying at one point that "It could've all been [hers]" had she made it to the election. In the godhood stream, George continuously refers to herself as "God" even denying XD's divinity. When Karl says there's already a god of the smp, George replies with "I am God." She even has the confidence to call herself God to XD's face. She seems to see herself as powerful even when she lacks power. A good example of this is her telling Eryn that she's king of the smp, despite having lost the title an entire year prior.
Contrary to most potrayals, George is a very social and energetic character. She'll talk to and hang out with anyone on the server, despite any negative relations. People typically portray her as being constantly sluggish or lazy, but this portrayal is incredibly inaccurate. George doesn't sleep for long periods of time because she's tired, but because she lacks the ability to wake up. This is shown during the elections where George is genuinely upset and bothered by the fact she wasn't able to attend. Whenever she's actually active on the server, she stays in action; running around, building things, pvping, gathering resources, etc. Her constant sleeping/dreaming does not define her character and is instead something that's seen as negative by George herself.
So George isn't apathetic towards events, but what about towards other characters? For the most part, people who portray her as not caring for others is completely accurate. George doesn't care about other people being hurt/dying or about countries exploding. Especially if these things are in her interest. George only reacts negatively to her own countries and friends being hurt or threatened. This is most noticeable during the godhood stream, where George becomes panicked when Dream talks about destroying Kinoko. George also worries when Sapnap and Dream get in an argument during the dethronement, repeatedly asking them why they're fighting. She also tends to defend her friends from mobs, showing that she has care for their safety.
It's very common for people to lean into George's "apathy" in their portrayals. Although it is a part of her character, it's commonly over-exaggerated or misplaced. Usually, George's lack of awareness is accidental. She lacks a lot of facts about the server and its members due to her sleeping for so long. Many people seem to think this is on purpose, as if she purposefully avoids events. This is incorrect. There are many examples of George trying to be a part of the main server. Some examples include: George wanting to build her house closer to the action and refusing to live with Sam because his home was too far away, clinging onto the vice president title despite easily being able to drop out after missing the elections, trying to help blow up parts of L'manberg after the war, and her asking other characters for tours and updates. I could list a million more instances of George actively trying to join in on the lore despite not actually being able to contribute much, but it would take up too much of the blog.
There are, however, instances of George having a strange care for L'manberg. She seems upset about it's destructive, which is likely because she blames herself (at least partially) for it's destruction. That being said, she seemed to have a dislike for new L'manberg and only cares for the Manberg era of the country (likely because she was in power.)
So far, you have a character who is obsessed with power, strength, and titles. One who's very social and energetic, who tries to be a part of the server despite never being able to, who cares for her friends and property, and who wants to return to a more peaceful era.
Is that all there is to George's character? No, of course not. George is a very complex character and these are only her base characteristics. Unfortunately, this is getting long and probably hard to understand. So, I'll leave it here for now and in the next portion I'll talk about the dream lore and what it tells us about her character.
Tumblr media
Also
I hate writing my thoughts down. So I actually might not ever speak again. Especially because nobody fucking cares about this character. UGH.

I've never seen anyone point out the parallels between c!Tommy telling c!Tubbo that the discs were worth more than him vs c!Dream saying he doesn't care about anything but the discs in front of c!Sapnap.
It's like c!Dream succeeded in making c!Tommy a little bit more like him during exile, just maybe not the way he intended to.

c!Dnf for dummies: Rambling about cDnf because none of you understand them like I do. Part 1: The basics + Dream's Pov
Read this if you hate dnf or if you like dnf because either way you're probably wrong about them. This is especially for people who dislike cDnf but never shut up about cDream or people mentioning cDnf/cDteam's in fics because you NEED IT!!!
Ughhhhh ok. I have tried to write about Dnf in depth so many times but its impossible because you need sooo much context to even begin to understand their dynamic. Dream and George are two of the most complex characters and are near impossible for most to understand because neither of their ccs know how to press the start stream button.
But that doesn't matter because here at cDnf university I am dedicated to the grind so I can talk about these bitches all day. Ok first order of business, FUCK cDrunz, FUCK cRivals, FUCK cAwesamdream and most importantly FUCK cDiscduo ok? Ok. If you're reading this and you don't already like cDnf then chances are you like one or more of those dynamics. GET THEM OUT OF YOUR HEAD. Ok?? OK!!
People are def only reading this because Dream mention. We love cDream yayy. Exactly. Yayyy. But to understand cDnf you need to consider and understand Dream as a stand alone character outside of any other dynamic. Ok? Ok!!! Now we can start.
What is c!Dnf?
Dnf is, of course, the relationship between Dream and George. Their relationship is undeniably romantic despite this never explicitly being stated. They engage in both romantic and "sexual" activities throughout the many vods and are seen as a couple by multiple of the other characters.
To make their relationship easier for people who don't know much about George to understand, imagine shipping Dream with himself. George, like Dream, is a character who prioritise power and control above all else. They both believe that the only way to achieve peace is by forcing everyone to return to the original ways of the server. Both characters struggle to understand the needs and wants of others when it doesn't benefit them. And they both use manipulation in order to achieve their goals.
Dream and George are both extremely intelligent characters who are able to work together without planning anything. Because they usually think so similarly, they tend to disregard each others feelings or thoughts when they contradict. They believe they have full control over each other, even though they don't. This is most obvious during the dethronement conflict.
Dnf's care for each other is undeniable. While Dream hides his feelings from the server pretty well following dethronement, George doesn't. Post-prison Dnf is the hardest era of their relationship to understand due to the lack of interactions between the characters. That being said, this doesn't mean they ever lose care for one another. The finale confirms this.
People often over-simplify the relationship between these characters in fics, art, and even analysis. Typically George will be seen as just another one of Dreams victims. And while George is a victim of Dream's behavior, she is far from being an innocent one. In fact, due to how she views Dream, it's clear that she doesn't see herself as a victim of him at all. Other times, Dream will be the sole victim. This is rarer, but not uncommon. Many people potray George as someone who dislikes Dream for his actions or his beliefs. As I stated before, their beliefs are shared between them so it鈥檚 once again an incorrect potrayal of their dynamic.
To truly portray Dnf correctly, pitting them against each other or denying their affection for each other is never an option. Despite their relationship being toxic it is never loveless. If you ever write them in a way that permanently severs their friendship then you'll never be able to write them accurately. That being said, there is a way to have conflicts between the characters since they do clash a few times.
The foundation of c!Dnf.
In the early days of the smp, George and Dream lived peacefully. Although there were conflicts between the original members, they were almost never between the two of them. The only time Dream and George were truly at odds was during George's "Tyranny" era. During this short era, George made very op armor and weapons and used them to "terrorize" the other members. No one could fight back against her because she was stronger than everyone else. So Dream killed her and confiscated her things. Eventually she got them back and there was no issues between the two of them.
This event is, in my opinion, one of the key moments of Dnf's dynamics. It's the first event where Dream is willing to go against George. And it's in a situation where she has power over him. This is very important to note because it is a pattern in their relationship.
Two more early smp events that I believe really set up Dnf's dynamic are Tommy's first exile and the burning of Ponk's lemon tree.
Tommy's first exile happens shortly after he joins the server. Tommy kills George and steals her things before being killed by Dream. After this, they both become aggressive. They take him to the courthouse for a trial. When he escapes, he kills George a few more times before once again being killed by Dream. Afterwards Dream chooses to exile and then ban him from the server.
Throughout this conflict, both characters move as a unit. They aren't talking in a vc (confirmed by Dream) so their only communication is through mc chat. Something a lot of people miss, are the parallels between this exile and Tommy's second exile. In both situations, there's an issue between Tommy and George and Dream steps in. Once Dream steps in, he seems to take control of the situation but George is still in the background pulling strings. In this situation, George is actually the first one threaten Tommy with a ban. Dream simply repeats the threat and follows through with it.
This is also an example of Dream overreacting whenever George is attacked. This is one of the bigger examples, but Dream is known to become aggressive and attack on George's behalf. It's one of the reasons characters hesitate before attacking George later. It's also why no one comments on Dream's overreaction with Tommy's second exile. To them it makes sense because George was already established as someone important to Dream. And I'll get more into that later.
The burning of Ponk's Lemon Tree is an early case of George being granted special privileges. After Ponk griefed George's base, her chat suggested that she burn down Ponk's lemon tree. When George asks Dream if she should, he tells her that she can. So she burns down the lemon tree close to the Community House. After this, someone in the chat mentions the bigger tree. Dream takes note of this message and tells George that she should watch Ponk's vod and find the tree. Once George finds it, he kills all his chickens while Dream laughs. Once Ponk logs on, Dream tells George to quickly set fire to the tree in order to do more damage.
As mentioned before, the court house does exist and is in use by this point in the smp. Despite that, Dream chooses to allow George to take matters into her own hands. He also encourages George to find Ponk's bigger lemon tree despite her being satisfied with burning down the smaller one. It's not normal for Dream's character, even at this point in the lore, to start bigger conflicts unnecessarily. This is another example of him making an exception for George. Dream backing George's action also seems to be the reason Ponk doesn't retaliate the way they do when Sapnap burns down their tree later.
While all of these instances are tiny on their own, they are important to understanding the greater dynamic between the two characters. Not only does it create a pattern of Dream treating George differently from the others, it also shows why George perceives him as a protector later on. The early days of their relationship are also important since they make it clear that these are the times they look back on fondly. The times they want the server to revert back to. It isn't just because it was "simple" or "peaceful" but because nothing disrupted the status quo.
It's also important to understand why a slight against George was considered a slight against Dream for so long. You can't understand a lot of the relationship and conflicts between characters without understanding this first.
How does c!Dream view c!George?
When I talked about the foundations of cDnf, I talked about how early conflicts established simple aspects of how their characters interact. I also mentioned how these early conflicts shaped the way they're viewed by the rest of the server. Now I'm going to dive more into how they see each other.
While deciphering this from the vods is incredibly difficult, once all of the pieces are together it's actually really easy to understand. Due to the nature of their characters, they are forced to see people through a lense of "Ok, how does this person benefit me?" Because they were the first ever characters on the sever, they could only benefit each other through teamwork. They had to work together in order to survive without any weapons or armor. Because of this, they saw each other as equals.
There's a noticeable shift in how they view each other once the smp becomes established, though. George is a weaker fighter than Dream and she tends to mess around more often. This puts her in more conflicts. Naturally, Dream aids her in these conflicts since they've established themselves as allies. However, this also changes George's position from an equal to someone beneath Dream. She, possibly without knowing, puts herself in a position where she must rely on Dream's strength and resources for survival.
The power George (and Sapnap in some instances) give Dream is the power that he later latches onto. He doesn't put himself in a leader role, he's pushed into it. George uses Dream to end conflicts by running to him whenever she finds herself in trouble. This is why Dream was seen as the leader by other characters later. This is why the server became the DreamSmp and the "team" part fell back. This is why he believes he must insert himself in ever minor problem on the server.
When George falls behind Dream, it doesn't go unnoticed by him. The way Dream talks to and about George during the L'manberg war shows a small shift in how he views her. George is inactive on the server in the time leading up to the war. While Dream and Sapnap are building cobble walls around L'manberg, Dream mentions that George was approached by Tommy and Wilbur. He claims that they tried to get her on their side, but he isn't worried because George is on his side. What's interesting about this is, when George joins, Dream actually asks if she's on his side. She then says that she doesn't actually know what's happening. Dream gives her the basics and George laughs when he lists the members of the country. Dream explains that she's laughing because she's wondering why she'd ever team with them.
This interaction is significant in understanding how Dream views George because it establishes something that will later become a pattern. Dream making a decision on George's behalf without consulting her about it. This was the first sign that Dream no longer saw George as an equal, but as a follower. He's decided that their goals align without actually confirming that with her.
Following this, another interesting thing happens. The Lion King plagiarism.
What stands out about this event, is actually Sapnap and not Dnf. As established before, George barely understands what's going on. Because of that, she hasn't assisted him at all with the preparations for the war. Sapnap on the other hand, has been assisting Dream since the very start of the conflict. So why then, did Dream choose to promise the land to George? Well, it's established in Dream's conversation with Punz later in the SMP, that he defines loyalty as having not ever gone against him. Since Sapnap went against Dream during the Disc War, he's no longer fit to take over the server in an event where he's no longer around. But, since Dream sees George as someone who shares his ideals, she is fit to take over if something happens to him. We'll come back to that later.
Throughout the stream where both these events take place, Dream is still treating George primarily as an equal despite chipping away at her autonomy. He even trusts her to guard him when he enters L'manburg to place signs. Granted he also knows that Eret isn't a threat. There's a large shift in his treatment towards her during the actual war, though.
The now deleted and near impossible to find behind the scenes footage of the L'manburg war from Punz's pov shows a harsh change in Dream's treatment of George. George is, obviously, the least prepared for the war which results in both Dream and Punz handing her anything she may need. At a point, Dream asks George to follow him because he thinks she's the most likely to die. George says she isn't going to die and Dream replies with "hopefully" before showing her a chest that contained extra weapons and armor.
There's another event from the second part of this video that shows clips of the actual war. When Wilbur logs on, Sapnap says he could one shot him. George repeatedly tells him to do it, while Dream tells him not to. George then says that she's going to start shooting and Dream once again tells her not to. When Sapnap starts shooting again, he seems to think that George is the one shooting. He says "What part of follow my lead, George, do you not understand?" and George quickly snaps back with "You can't control me." This is followed by silence then Dream says that George is the "only optional member of this team"
These two events establish something new about how Dream views George. The first being that he sees her as weak. At least in comparison to himself, Punz, and Sapnap. This isn't a rare opinion and is shared between most of the server. It's just worth pointing out because it lines up with another point of mine. Dream tells George that she is the only optional member of the team. The statement could be put off as just a joke, but I think it's more than that. The way Dream planned out the war made it near impossible for them to lose. He'd gotten all of their plans from Eret and already predicted exactly how it would end. Truthfully, he didn't need George to win the war. Punz and Sapnap are stronger than her and got wayy more kills. George's presence, truthfully, added nothing to the team or Dream's plan.
That being said, George's presence did matter to Dream. George being on his side mattered to Dream. And that's a big difference between Dnf and every other friendly dynamic Dream has on the server. Punz? Sapnap? Technoblade? They matter to Dream largely because of what they can do for him. All of them are strong fighters who constantly have resources that Dream can borrow. Being friends with them doesn't only provide Dream companionship, but also ensures that he is always on the winning side.
So, what value does being allies with George actually provide Dream? Well, power itself. As I said before, what originally gave Dream power was George insisting on running to him whenever a conflicts arose. George is, and always has been, the only character who is dependent on Dream having control. Dream sees George as someone who is weak. A follower who needs his charity to even survive on the server. The absolute control Dream has over George makes her predictable, easy to understand, and comfortable to be around. That's what makes her special to him. That's why having her on his side matters.
Now, this is all early smp Dnf and while this all carries into their later interactions, the proof for that comes from a much more complex part of the lore. The King George - Dethronement era of c!Dnf is where a lot of debate about them comes from. This is where people start to argue that George didn't matter to Dream as much as he pretended she did. The truth is, you can only begin to understand what happened here if you understand how these two characters perceive each other. So! I will be talking about this arc specifically in part 2 where I'll also be talking about George's pov.
For now, I'll skip to what happens after these events and talk about Dream's view of George prior to and during prison arc.
George and Dream hang out a few times in the period between exile and the disc finale. This shows that, despite what people say, they did not stop interacting because of the dethronement fallout. While nothing outside of their normal banter happens (aside from Dream being a bit more violent), it is important to note that the two of them were still friends.
We don't get a lot from Dream during the prison arc, but we do know that he wants to see George. He requests her presence on 2 occasions, once during Bad's visit and again during Sapnap's. It's also implied that George is who Dream's thinking of when Tommy asks him who he misses the most, though he could've been thinking of anyone. This at the very least shows that she's in his mind. While it could be argued that he only wanted to see George in order to get her to help him escape, this is unlikely. As we already established, Dream doesn't really see George as capable.
The only other point where Dream outright mentions George is after his escape from the prison. This is, of course, during his conversation with Sapnap. There isn't much to gather on his feelings towards George from this conversation. However, I do think it's important to note that he doesn't seem at all surprised by the idea that George misses him. His small pause after Sapnap says that George never talks about him implies that he's much more surprised about that. Him refusing to acknowledge Sapnap's words and instead changing the subject back to his armor suggests that maybe Sapnap's words got to him a bit.
I'd also like to point out that that part of the conversation isn't the only time George is brought up. Sapnap uses her name twice to try and get a reaction out of Dream. This goes back to my other point about how the other characters acknowledge George's importance to him. Dream refusing to talk about George during and after the prison arc may be due to his fear of people he cares about getting hurt. George is Dream's biggest and most vulnerable attachment, so making it too obvious that he still cares is dangerous for both of them.
That being said, I'd like to move on to the finale. The finale gave us a lottt to chew on when it comes to Dnf, all things considered. One of those things being a sign with George's name being one of the few fully legible signs in Dream and Punz's little hideout. There's a lot of interpretation for this sign, but the easiest explanation is that the two of them were planning to use George to destroy Kinoko. Not only does this line up with George's dream, but it would match the other sign that says "Purpled, Quackity, Las Nevadas" (iirc I literally can't find the pic </3) The other name on the sign with George's seemed to be Sapnap's, so it would line up since Dream threatened Sapnap. That being said, it could also be because Dream and Punz planned for George to be one of the first people they approach with the offer to share the revival book's knowledge. This also makes sense because Punz is one of the few characters who knows that George still cares about Dream.
Either option makes it clear that Dream still wants George on his team and hasn't actually stopped thinking about her. He most likely still considers her an ally since, unlike him and Sapnap, they haven't had a true falling out.
Now onto my last and final point: Tommy's limbo during the finale. Limbos change based on how you die, and Tommy dies after claiming that Dream was the same (still evil and craving power) prior to getting the revival book. Tommy then claims that death is something substantial before Dream kills him to prove otherwise. I feel like, too many people interpret this moment incorrectly. And this is because to understand this moment, you have to understand Dnf.
Dream seemingly kills Tommy, again, to prove him wrong. But I argue that Tommy saying that death matters isn't why Dream chooses to attack. That isn't the point of the conversation they're having. They're arguing over whether what Dream's doing with the revival book has a purpose. Whether his quest for power matters at all. Dream is arguing that what he did ensures that everyone can live and be happy forever. While Tommy is arguing that in his quest for power he denied himself the ability to ever be happy. He tells Dream that if he would've focused on the present instead of power than they could've even be friends. That's when Dream claims that Tommy ruined the server and made that impossible. Dream blames his need for power on a need to control Tommy (and people like him) and stop them from ruining the server. That's when Tommy claims that Dream was always the same, that he spent his entire life chasing power. And When Tommy says that, Dream tries to interject but Tommy keeps talking and tries to make his point about death being serious. That's when Dream gets aggressive. That's why Dream kills him.
And why does that matter to Dnf? Easy. Tommy dies, because Dream was annoyed at the fact that Tommy truly believed that he was always evil or chasing power. The vod chosen to prove Tommy wrong isn't one that features Sapnap, or Sam, or Ponk, or Alyssa, or any of the other og members. It would've been sooo easy for the vod to be a community house building stream or even just DTeam fucking around. Those vods would've been easy to understand for both Tommy and the audience. Instead we see the first ever Dsmp stream. A stream that only features Dream and George. This is important because, as I mentioned, there weren't any conflicts between the two of them in the beginning. Dream wasn't chasing power because there was no power to chase, and no one to have control over.
The rest of the finale really drives home George (and Sapnap's) importance to Dream even after everything. Dream all but completely confirms that everything he's done and planned to do was worth it because it meant in the end he'd live forever with his friends. Everything would be simple the way it was in the early days. Before Tommy and his friends ruined it all. I think this alone makes cDnf a core dynamic to Dream's character and understanding his actions in retrospect.
ANYWAY I've talked for long enough so I'm just going to leave this here. This took me HOURS (days?) to write and I wanted to say more but... I decided to spare anyone who actually wanted to read this. If you fuck with c!Dnf or hate it immensely uh... stay tuned for pt 2 yayy (it will be shorter trust me)

Dreamsmp season 2 except, because of cGeorge's forever friendship deal with XD, she still remembers him. Bonus, she sees cDream as this being that looks like and reminds her of XD instead of the other way around.
Oh and, bonus bonus, cDream is drawn to cGeorge for some unexplainable reason, but cGeorge is repelled by him because when she starts to regain memories, they're only the ones from her dreams.

ur recent essay really reminds me of a different essay discussing femininity depicted 锟糹n a character but instead of c!gnf it was c!tom
I鈥檓 kinda interested on your view on fem c!tom as he can align with 锟約ome of ur points on c!gnf
For context, this is the essay I did on cGeorge
Unfortunately, I don't see cTommy as a feminine character in the same way I see cGeorge as one. That being said, I do personally hc cTommy as fem nonbinary! So I have absolutely no problem with this depiction. Most of the art I like of cTommy potrays them as fem too. From a story standpoint, cTommy is in a stereotypically masculine role. He's the "hero" who "saves the day" through violent means. He, in my opinion, behaves like the generic rough and tumble teenage boy stereotype. Even in his interactions with female played characters he's portrayed as being especially important in comparison to them. This, to me, adds to why cTommy seems more stereotypically masculine.
You mentioned that a few of my points on cGeorge also apply to cTommy. When I was rereading my essay, the only point I could apply to him is the fact that he's also treated less seriously than other characters. The difference between their treatment is that cTommy is a child. cTommy being looked down upon is almost always directly linked to his age or his violent, unruly, or otherwise chaotic behavior.
Although I didn't say this in my essay, I compared cGeorge's treatment by dsmp characters and the fandom to the way female played characters were treated. cTommy is actually one of the contrasting characters I used for this comparison. The others being cDream, cKarl, cWilbur, cTechno, cSapnap, cPhil, cBBH, and even cSlime. These characters were constantly treated as important, not only by the plot itself, but also by the other characters. Meanwhile, female played characters like cNiki and even other characters like cPonk were reduced to their relationship to a "more important" male character. Something seen both in the lore and in the fandom.
Now you could argue that cTommy as a character is reduced to his relationship with cDream or cWilbur, but I wouldn't agree. With cDiscDuo, this treatment is both incredibly minimal, but also mutual. With cGeorge, she doesn't exist as a character without her relationship to cDream. This doesn't apply to cTommy. This comparison works even less with cCrimeBoys, since cTommy still existed without cWilbur for a large stretch of time. Compare this to when cDream was in prison. cGeorge's lore still revolved around cDream.
This was meant to be a short answer but I tend to ramble... the tldr is: I don't think that cTommy is an inherently feminine character. In fact he is a stereotypically very masculine character. That being said, I don't think it matters! I think if you see cTommy as fem, you should draw him as a girl because he is a fictional genderless character.
Also, small note, I don't think a male played character has to have a "minimal role" to be an inherently feminine character. cQuackity to me is also a character who is pushed into a stereotypically feminine role despite also having a "major role" in the story.

I've never really understood the whole "canon ages" thing with the dsmp. People like to say that cTommy was canonically 9 during the L'manberg war and that he was a preteen? during exile. However, they never seem to acknowledge that cDream would've been 13-17 in that case.
13 when he had to stop playing around with his friends and put himself in a position of power. 13 being called a tyrant by a grown ass man over what he thought were fair rules. 13 when everyone around him started to see him as a villain.
No wonder he turned out the way he did. He was never given the chance to be anything else.

hey I鈥檓 not really an expert on c!george but I kinda need to know for a fic I鈥檓 writing and I don鈥檛 trust the wiki at all
What was c!george鈥檚 reaction to prison break?
ooo this is such a fun question!! and i'm lowkey freaking out over being asked this lol. i'm like the c!gnf authority. (also i'm sooo sorry for taking so long to get to this </3)
Alright so, the closest we get to a prison break reaction from Gnf is the "I blew up the Dream SMP" stream where George dreams about meeting Dream post-prison.
When talking to Dream, she was almost deprecating? She immediately started questioning his intelligence, wondering how someone so smart could get themselves locked away for so long. She says that if he was really smart he would've thought of a backup plan incase he got trapped inside. Throughout their convo, George is visibly unafraid of Dream, belittling and criticizing him the entire time. She even gets annoyed at the fact that Dream has full netherite after leaving the prison while she has nothing.
She stands next to Dream a lot during their interaction and is the one getting in Dream's personal space while he keeps his distance (notably this is the exact opposite of what happens during dethronement). Their conversation is natural and casual which seems to annoy George since she mocks Dream for just giving her a simple hello, despite how long it's been since they last saw each other. In fact, George is upset by the audacity of Dream to greet her as if nothing happened between them and even expresses that to him.
People often write George as being afraid or extremely happy upon seeing Dream, but she's neither. It's likely she found out that Dream was free after Sapnap told her about the armor which is why she isn't surprised either. George seems to have an "it's about time, idiot" mentality when it comes to Dream's escape. George doesn't seem all that bothered by Dream's freedom aside from being upset he let himself be captured in the first place.
George only seems distraught when asked why she didn't visit and when Dream asks about Kinoko. She doesn't like her country or herself being threatened and only expresses discomfort with Dream when he starts to behave in a hostile way. That being said, George doesn't seem against the idea of joining Dream's side since she's unable to outright turn down the offer. Something that's worth pointing out since she isn't afraid to call him a clown when he first tries to get her to help him destroy Kinoko.
So! To summarize, when writing George's reaction to the prison break; I'd keep her very unbothered. Perhaps make her mock Dream and even the people who let him escape. I wouldn't make her too pro or anti Dream since she seems to be mostly neutral (with a pro leaning of course, since she's fine with talking to him and even suggests they attack Tommy's home together)
Hope this helps!! If you have additional questions pls pls send them! Asks like this are so fun!!

Maturing is realizing that cSapnap was always closer to cClingyduo than he was to cDream. So it makes perfect sense that when everything went to hell he chose them. It makes perfect sense that he went to cTommy for comfort when he thought cDream didn't care for him.
And despite cSapnap always being closer to cClingyduo he still hesitated to fight against cDream during doomsday. Because it felt wrong to fight against him, even if it meant fighting against all of the friends who stuck by his side.
