Orville is Original Star Trek

Have you been watching Seth MacFarlane’s new show The Orville? If so, then you time-traveled to 1969 while viewing this week’s episode called MAJORITY RULE.  Which was a (kind of) laugh out loud story about an American Idol obsessed population. Not since Let That Be Your Last Battle (S3 ep15; Original air date: 1-10-1969), when Frank Gorshin starred as Bele, the two-toned bounty hunter have morality plays been part of network TV. 

NIchelle Nichols is often quoted saying she knew what Roddenberry was up to all along--morality tales disguised as sci-fi. Mr. MacFarlane’s new show is heading in this direction; which is AOK with me; I love the original Star Trek!!!!

   Mr. MacFarlane is seven years younger than I (thank you IMBD), but we obviously watched the same shows growing up! I’ve been watching this series with some interest; is it an homage, (like Galaxy Quest) or a straight sci-fi show? I’ve yet to decided, but I do know I’ll keep watching to find out.
