#love this random shot of mccoy in sickbay w the doctors marcus while the ship is on red alert and being shot at#particularly bc its a break in the montage of. people getting weapons. running down hallways. getting to battle stations.#he's just sittin there reading#jolted every once and awhile by warning shots#knowing that soon the casualties are going to start pouring in his door#its this strange moment of peace in the belly of the beast that you get to see#particularly bc ive always liked to imagine sickbay is one of the safest places in the ship#the least susceptible to jolts and shakes#ive always thought that there was lighter g in sickbay too. or the option to turn it off and let the patients float#if they have conditions/are in a state in which abrupt movement would cause them considerable pain#you know#give the doctor some magnetic boots so he can still get around to them and boom you've protected the guy with the broken leg from falling on#the floor when engineering gets hit w phaser fire. yanno?#anyway. the fact that the doctors are in this shot is great bc it sort of gives credence to the idea that - physically - its very safe there#they're both civilians so they didnt sign onto being fired at like the officers on the ship did#yanno#trek#star trek#also its just a pretty shot. love me a cut glass door.
