Liar! I 15. profanity police

yn sighed as she rummaged through her closet, looking for something to wear that didn't scream: "I just got my heart broken by a pathological liar!" as ryujin had so kindly stated.

in all honesty, she didn't even want to leave the house, but her friends were insistent because apparently her getting fresh air would help her get over beomgyu, which she didn't believe but she didn't have the strength to fight them on it.

she had settled on a simple outfit, slowly treading down the stairs and opening the front door, being greeted by the sight of ryujin, yeji, jake and niki waiting for her.

"where are we going again?" she questioned, gazing at her friends as she awaited an answer.

ryujin answered without looking up from her phone.

"we're going to that coffee shop that you could not stop raving on about, and hopefully this'll cure you of your depression."

"I don't think that's how heartbreak works." jake quirked his brow in confusion.

ryujin rolled her eyes and starting making her way to the coffee shop, the other falling into step with her one by one.

"well, I don't remember asking what you think jake."

jake muttered something that sounded like "rude" under his breathe, earning him a smack from ryujin.

"you okay niki?" yn asked the boy, who seemed particularly antsy, playing with the collar of his shirt.

"yep, totally fine and totally not hid-" his sentence was cut off by a manicured hand covering his mouth.

"he's perfectly fine, isn't that right niki? don't say anything, just nod." yeji stated, not taking her hand off of nikis mouth.

yn was confused, but she shrugged off it nonetheless. it wasn't unusual for her friends to try to prank her, so she figured niki was about to spoil their whole plan, like when they though her a suprise party and he sent the invite to her to make sure she would like the colourscheme.

she smiled slightly at the memory, already feeling better than she did under the covers, listening to break up music from old disney movies.

maybe the whole fresh air thing wasn't complete bullshit.

yn opened the door to the shop, the bell ringing as she made her way inside. she was immediately met with the smell of freshly baked goods and coffee, almost putting her in a trance as a she made a beeline towards the queue.

a loud, very very familiar voice pulled her out of her coffee fueled hypnosis and she stopped abruptly, turning to face the right, just to make sure she wasn't having auditory hallucinations.

surely enough, there he was. sitting between an irritated yeonjun and a hyperactive hueningkai, there. he. was.

just as yeonjun pushed his head off of his shoulder, beomgyu looked up, and it was as if the lunch he had just eaten was begging to come back to the surface.

beomgyu and yn stared at each other, both equally shocked and wanting to sneak out through the nearest exit.

yn turned to his friends, taking in the either sheepish or completely evil looks on their faces. she then turned to her own friend group, who had all seemed to find the wallpaper and tiling of the store particularly interesting in that moment.

yn let out a bitter chuckle, shaking her head at how gullible she had been today.

those two-faced fuckers set me up.

yeonjun stared at beomgyu with wide eyes, trying to process what he had just heard.

"beomgyu... what?"

beomgyus lips pressed into a thin line as he looked everyone in the car but at yeonjun directly.

"it happened that day, when taehyun dragged me to the gym. I asked if we could fake date just to get chaeyoung off my back, but I wasn't actually expecting her to yes. and now..." beomgyu trailed off, staring at the cars passing on the road.

"you actually like her." yeonjun said, more of a statement than a question, to which beomgyu lightly nodded.

beomgyu turned to yeonjun, looking straight at him for the first time since his confession. "I was gonna tell her, today actually, but then...you came in."

yeonjuns eyes softened as he pulled beomgyu into another hug. "I'm so sorry dude, you know I would never, I mean if I had known-"

beomgyu cut off before he could finish his sentence. "But you didn't, so you definitely shouldn't feel like this is your fault. maybe it was for the best anyway."

"what do you mean?"

beomgyu sighed for what felt like the 20th time that day.

"maybe you interrupting me happened for a reason." He shrugged his shoulders, trying to hide the tremble in his voice.

yeonjun opened his mouth, words of comfort promptly left unsaid as beomgyu cut him off.

"I don't need you to comfort me yeonjun. I mean, the entire time we've known each other, I feel like I've given her more reasons to hate me than like me. the whole reason we even got this close was because I lied about us dating in front of the entire school!"

the back of his head hit the car seat in defeat. "I basically forced her into this mess, even though I could've solved it like a regular person without her involved. why would she want to be with someone like me?"

yeonjun stared at beomgyu, not really knowing how to react to his best friends sudden outburst, opting to simply put a hand on his shoulder, hoping that the simple action would somehow comfort him.

"can we just... not go to school today? I know we have an english speech due today but I just can't-"

yeonjun flashed him a knowing smile and put his seatbely back on. "english can wait beomgyu, where do you wanna go today instead?" He asked, starting the car and drumming to the beat of the song playing on the radio.

beomgyu slightly smiled at yeonjun, relieved that the secret hadn't cost him his closest friend.

"I could eat."
