At first I didn’t find CDE attractive because it was normalized for women to lust after that physical look and I say this as a woman overweight herself. We just aren’t taught to find ourselves attractive. Then one fateful day I ran into Marina’s blog and found Sky High Lovin and she made a comment on how on your worst days no matter how you look you need that extra love and it all went downhill from there. Big Daddy E has become my kryptonite and my favorite Elvis version. To know he wasn’t aesthetically what society wanted and he wasn’t 100% confident but he still had women in love with him (still has us in love w him) and he was such a man with his hairy chest and UGH I WANT HIM !!!

anon, i had a very similar awakening with the first big daddy e fic i read. it wasn't even called that back then and it's a fic that like- i would have never read on my own and yet i did. and it had pretty much the same effect. which is extra hilarious to me because i had told myself if i was gonna write elvis i'd stay away from the prime big daddy years because i almost felt exploitative but then i realized no- no that elvis needs just as much love as everyone else.

like i said in my answer to norah's question/survey re: bde part of it really is just giving him the extra love. reminding him that hey- the papers and everything might wanna call you fat and forty and everything in your body might be rebelling against you but i'm here with ruined underwear and a heaving bosom and a heart that'll take care of you in whatever way you want me to.

There will be! And in fact, it’ll be a whole one shot, eventually!

Discover him? I’m not sure what you mean by that doll, but I do pride myself that I was in the founding club here when the nickname and appreciation began. It’s rather a southern thing to nickname someone that with fond intentions, seemed natural.

When I put a “big daddy Elvis fanfiction” tag on my Sky High Lovin one shot, there were no others yet published in the fandom, which now cracks me up -because now look at the tag! I know quite a few great writers who are more consistently publishing for that era and would always be happy to point ya to them, if you’d like.
